Zenithink ZT-180 1GHz 10" tablet

Even my first generation (6/2010) Orphan M16 works at about 60 ft. from the router through walls so I'd have to guess you have a bad dongle inside... you cn add an external USB RA 2030 Wifi Dongle nd it just superceedes the internal as same chip family and driver... I grbbed a couple online for around $12 each and they do have improved range from the internal one as Antenna is now outside case so signal not partially blocked by motherboard and display... Originall I was going to strip the dhell and solder to repace internal but then I'd be back to restricted signal from inside so I just plug it in when I need a better signal...

I tried to search about the "USB RA 2030 Wifi Dongle" but did not find anything... search was using 2030 as 20 ft / 30ft... can you post the model # or who made it? I ned to be sure that is a hardware problem (or a software) befor to send it back to have replaced.

Actually I steered you wrong... the base chip that the driver supports is an RT2870(bg) and RT3070(bgn)... I went with one with RT3070 but rarely does n actually get used unless it's the only device connecting to a very close N router...

3 wifi related files I usually edit for a ZT-180 are;

/etc/Wireless/RT2870STA/RT2870STA.dat
***make Change to lower TxPower to 20%

/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
*** to contain ONLY the network relevant data you need

/system/etc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
*** To lock the update_config=0 and ap_scan=2

You really should browse through that first post over there to read the examples and related changes to these 3 files...

PS. on other devices we have source there's an easier way to handle Adhoc just like an Infrastructure AP using a patched wpa_supplicant Binary... I've directed the dev for zenithink firmware to the patch so Hopefully he will include it in a newer firmware release and we won't need to go through all these shananagins to get adhoc tehther working anymore... fingers crossed

AutoKiller set Preset to Strict(60,50,40) to keep enough mem available, and autostarts to mark all the crap that tries to start for no reason at boot time and just after to Not Autostart... another Mem saver AND Big Bootup time saver.... First thing to do after is the TXPower hack to improve Wifi, save battery, and not burn yourself when you sit tablet on a knee :>)

Just my $0.02 of wisdom but I think once you've configured these things the way you want them you'll be even happier...

Well, I received mine today and it won't boot :( It looked like it was at first the big android waving image came on in the middle of the screen, then it looked like it booted for a split second then shut off. I thought it just needed charged, so I charged it up. Now it comes on, shows the penguin in the upper left corner then shows the small andriod_ in the middle left of the screen and says like that. It does nothing else. I have reset many times, and nothing different. I then tried to flash 1030 firmware and when I do start burntool it just says no open stdiofile! and the device in burntool doesn't light up green. I am VERY disappointed, please someone help me.

Sorry to hear about your problems with customs, I had the same problem. I hope you didn't have too much trouble in getting it released. Care to share with us what you had to do to get it released?

Well, my wife works for the government ... she contact a few people ... received by mail.

WOW! I had to submit a bunch of forms, plus pay the minimum fee of $100 before I got mine. Figuring out what forms to submit, and how to correctly fill them out, was the hard part.

I work for local government (water department), but we don't have much pull when it comes to the Federal government.
 
hi im new an not that useful with all these androids ..bought the z.t 180 but came with no installation disk for laptop cant sync anything an laptop wont read my android tablet..anyway ways round this please,,, also memory got stuck ,, ANYBODY KNOW HOW TO GET 10.1 flash player wont download,, also ant get wallpapers

As ZT-180 currently only runs Android 2.1 you can't run Flash 10.1 which requires Android 2.2 and even then will need a version of Flash built for ARM 11 as current versions are built for Arm Cortex A8 and A9 (Tegra2) processors... the only firmware that runs on ZT-180 that allows it mount sdcard from OC is a test build 1126 w/mass-storage kernel...
 
Can anybody tell me how to reset the Zt-180 back to factory default settings (i.e Out of box), as i want to give it to somebody as a gift and i have downloaded alot of apps that they will not need.

I recently received 2 of these from Pandawill. I was a little concerned at first as I only got shipping details emailed to me for the 2nd one (I ordered a couple of days apart so that the package would be smaller and hopefully not attract customs).
I emailed Pandawill and they were slow to reply, but did come back to me with an apology and the shipping details.
Both units arrived the day after, so I guess I was worried for nothing.

Not had chance to have a proper look at them yet, but the basics all seem to work out of the box.
 
How to install/run an application from microsSD card? I mean, the internal storage is only 2Gb but after android OS software leave only 1Gb. I have a 16Gb microSD card... it is possible to run an application from the microSD card without using the rest of the internal 1GB? I know it sounds stupid but every time that I install something it is going to the internal storage instead of going to the 16Gb MicroSd card. I am missing something here? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

apps2sd is the functionality that you are looking for But unfortunately it was not available for stock Android 2.1... was added to 2.2... but even there some of the app uses internal memory but when coded correctly a large part of the size can be pushed off to the SD...

Restore to Factory defaults wasn't written for these devices until the most recent test firmware version... for stock 1030 firmware you need to refalsh the firmware to get back to stock factory only...
 
Hi, I have the tablet and I want to connect the usb from the tablet to my pc, but i don't have the driver. Anyone know where I can get the driver?
