Root [KERNEL][AOSP&SENSE] - Superior Battery Charging. +4.18V off the charger!

i flashed this last night. Battery charged to 100 then continued to add voltage after that per the battery monitor. Held at 100% for like 2 hrs.
4h 32m since unlplugged and im at 88%. usage includes about 10 emails some facebook browsing via friendstream.

Setup is as follows:

SBC kernal based off of the 4.1.9 more havs netarchy kernel
myn's rls4
some theme changes

Phone appeared to be kinda choppy immediately after reflash but since has been just as snappy as the stock htc 17 kernel that comes with myn's rom. Linpack scores in the 30-32 range. I don't put much stock in that though. It feels great. stable as can be so far. no force closes or other issues. I did not reset bat stats when i flashed. Should I have done this? I just wiped cache and davlik.

i just downloaded xda-developers for CM6.1.1.

flashing it now.

update with screen shots. not the best quadrant scores, but i will sacrifice for better battery.

currently charging to full from 85% via usb. i will do some testing (ie angry birds) and see what happens after full charge.

I can't get a good kernel that works for me. Cleared cache, dalvik and a fresh flash of Myn's rls4, SBC net 4.1.9.1more havs v5. Charged all night. Watching my battery drain like water through a sieve. :(

just downloaded Battery Monitor Widget - Android app on AppBrain per the dev's suggestion to check mA's after 100%. will post pics shortly!

You know this is working when you're 30 minutes past 100% and you don't see any -mA's in the battery widget monitor app (go download from Market, it is free!). If you start seeing -mA's on the charger at any point while charging past 100%, the charger has turned off and this isn't working for you. The only reason the charger will turn off is if you go over the voltage limit. The only way you can possibly go over the voltage limit is if you are using your phone while charging on AC. That is the only way

EDIT: update with screen shots from charging. I reached 100% charge via usb at aprox. 2:15p cst. the mA's did hit 0 at 2:45p. from 2:45p-3p, they have gone up and down. unsure if this is truly working. it may be, but because i am plugged in via usb and have a live wallpaper and constantly using shootme it is tough to really get a good pic of whats happening. only other thing i can try is another kernal with this same test. (maybe after i see how this one does off charge) i am OC'd @ 1.19. screen brightness is less than 50%.

i tried to capture a screen at the beginning of testing every time the mA's changed. but, between 2:25 and 2:40 i was decorating xmas cookies.

I just installed v7 on my phone. I hit 100% @ 1:33. Just checked the log after sending out some emails and txting and I'm at 98% @ 1:45. Pretty good for me. Usually when I take it off the charger once its full I usually drop 10% after 10 mins with the same amount of use. We'll see how it goes the rest of the day. Im running Myn's Rom RLS 4

its now 3:50p cst and just unplugged from usb @ 100% after pulling/posting the above screen shots. i will now do some testing and see what this kernel is all about.

from 3:50p-4:09p went to the store. sent a few txt's for ingredients needed. also checked facebook. all on 3g network. at 4:09p i droped to 99% batt. also took 7 screenshots of things that are running and such for later use after testing.

Can someone point me to a Kernels For Dummies sort of thing or gimme an explaination as to what all they do and how to use them? Thanks for any help you can give!

Are you running any custom roms on your phone? There are quite a few kernels available to evo users but some are dependent on the ROM you have installed. I have Myn's 2.2 rls4 ROM which is a Sense rom. The stock kernel #17 that comes with that ROM does well for a lot people. A lot of people have also done well with Netarchy kernels. Everyones results will vary. Custom kernels will allow you to under and overclock the cpu. Some will also provide better or worse battery life.

I haven't changed the ROM or Kernel at all. I rooted using Unrevoked and use SetCPU and that's about it. I'm reading through rooting for dummies but I'm still unsure if I can use this kernel without changing the ROM. I'd like to get better battery life and not have the battery dropoff right after I unplug. Any advice?

Since the sbc kernel is based off of netarchys kernel for sense you should be able to. I would first boot into clockwork recovery and create a nandroid backup of your phone prior to flashing the kernel. In case the kernel doesn't play well with your phone you can restore it to the way you had it.

Download an app called quick boot from the market. It will allow u to boot into recovery. Since u used unrevoked to root your phone you should have clockwork installed.
