Root [ROM] OMGB v7 1/20/2011 Gingerbread 2.3

It is from the first page of this thread. I have made some more progress, however, now I am trying to install the ROM and it is giving me an error
E: can't mount /dev/block/mmchlk0p1. Says it can't mount data.

Do you have another SD card you can try? Sounds like the FAT32 format isn't taking on your current card for some reason. Either that or keep trying to format it. Sometimes it takes many tries for whatever reason.

If you put the phone in disk drive mode, does the PC see the card and it's contents or are you even hosed beyond that point?

New plan.

Make sure you don't have any PB31IMG files on your SD card, if there are any, delete them now. If you don't have Rom Manager, get it from the market. Open it and select the top-most option "flash Clockwork Recovery". Now power off the phone. Once off, hold volume down while pressing the power button to enter hboot. Wait until it attempts to autoload a IMG file, then go to Recovery and press power once.

Once in Clockwork, wipe data, cache and Dalvik once more and try loading the Rom from the SD card.

my point was to try redownloading the rom and flashing it, your download could be corrupt.

Are you using rom manager or doing things directly from clockwork? I recommend not using rom manager as it's one less thing to troubleshoot.

At this point, I am using PB31IMG to flash. I was using clockwork all day yesterday and half of today. I have had more luck with the PB31IMG recovery. I am using 2 different SD Cards and am getting the same error on both, so that makes me wonder if it is the file.

I have formatted both cards numerous times, and downloaded the link from this thread, as well as from xda developers thread. My thought is, should I try to flash the first version and then upgrade to OMGB-6?

I think I'm so close, just can't get over this hurdle.

Using PB31IMG to flash isn't making sense. Did you load an alternate recovery through hboot renamed to PB31IMG? In any event, that is why I mentioned to try reflashing recovery a couple posts up. The fact that you are failing with 2 separate cards makes me think there's a chance you have an issue with recovery interacting with the phone's partitions. Just a guess but a quick fix if that's the problem.

Yes I did. I have no way to get into market to get clockwork again. I am going to try to partition the sd card. Just not sure what settings to use.

With the clockwork recovery, it wouldn't mount the sd card. With the PB31IMG recovery, it won't mount the data.

So the new recovery (whatever it is) will mount the SD card but not the system? If it will mount the SD card, you might want to cut your losses and load a stable Rom onto the card so you can get a working phone back.

Also, it'd be nice to know what recovery you are running not that it really matters that much I guess. PB31IMG is not a type of recovery...it's a standard filename for autoloading files in hboot.

It is Amon Ra recovery. The system is mounted, the data is not. I know just enough about this stuff to be dangerous!!!!

Got bored and flashed this last night. Runs very smooth, I love the kernal that it comes with being able to have more tuning options within SetCPU at 1.113 I was able to hit 1700 on Quadrant. I really like the flash animation almost turning off an old TV look when you lock the screen . But honestly besides smoother scrolling I dont' see much of a diffrence between GB and Froyo . I would definetly keep this ROM if the camcorder worked though it's very smooth
Bit the bullet and flashed today. I'm really liking it. Got all my apps to load, or almost all of them at this point. It's quick, that's for sure. Going to play tonight and tomorrow, check out battery life, and try to get Angry you know what to run. This is a keeper so far. I don't use the camcorder so I'm ok for now. Keep you posted.

....
And the one app issue I had was with angry birds. I had to uninstall it and then remove my sd card, then install the app, then I could use titanium to restore data.... Seems like angry birds forces info onto the sd card for some reason. And that is the other issue, don't think you can have apps on the sd card.
Got it. According to the OP you just need to install AB to the SD card. You can actually do that with manage apps, move to internal. Then I did the restore of the data only and I'm back to the level I ****ing can't beat. Thanks, dude. ;)

Loving the ROM but for some reason I can't get a few apps on my phone . I've tried restoring them via Titanium Backup and just re downloading them from the Market but they don't even show up in the market

Yelp
Urbanspoon
Taxi Magic

I use these apps pretty regularly and it's really the only thing bothering me about this ROM . Anyone have any ideas why these apps can't restore and why they're not in the market

Well, so much for flashing OMGB. Gave up and tried to flash another ROM just to have a working phone. No luck. Ended up having to unroot and go back to stock. May try again tomorrow, lol.

@jim: You need to flash google apps

I'm having the same problem as jim. Are you sure you need google apps? I have gmail and the market and stuff. The apps that are missing are just not showing up on the market. Also, where can i find the google apps so i can flash it!

FYI i cant find the zillow app either...

Was using OMGB for over a week and although it's an awesome ROM there are still issues on my phone that are too hard to ignore. The usb notification will still stay on after I unplug it and it will slow to almost uselessness. It has potential.
