Hope this poll doesn't start any ROM wars, :D just thought it'd be a good starting point to help ROM newbies in making their choices.

I'll start, my favorite is a toss up between Myn, Nonsense and Fresh.....final verdict will be known once Rls5 is out.

i use only myns and fresh, i get random reboots with fresh and myns gives me no issues. i also use the sbc kernel and am having great battery life

Fresh is my first rom, and it's been great so far. I've been waiting for myn to update to rls5, to give that a try. I have the newest version of evo and I am weary bout flashing radios and such.

CyanogenMod - Nightly www.cyanogenmod.com

It's been around longer than most ROMs. With a full force of people working on most devices to port, it has a larger user base than any other.

Since the creator of the ROM uses an EVO as his main device, he has a special ROM called Nightly, which has the freshest updates each night ready for download. It is also one of the only ROMs that doesn't require a Wipe each time you download an update.

It's smooth, a Non-Sense based ROM like the Nexus. Many custom options to choose from as well.

Furthermore, soon CyanogenMod7 will be released, and it will be one of the ONLY ROMs you will be able to FLASH since unless the rest of the ROM developers get their $h*! together get their ROMs to work with the new Edify binary.

But anyway, it's an outstanding ROM, with no force closes or errors to be seen. I hightly recommend it. I use it daily.

Well currently I'm in love with evoking/dc13's Titanium Black Project-X V3 gingerbread ROM (based on evervolv 2.3), despite it's bugs and many things not working properly. It's incredibly fast, looks great, and has awesome animations. I mean it is fast like nothing else I have tried before. If you can put up with the few bugs it has, it makes a great daily driver.

But ever since I have rooted I have used Myn's Warm and I will be going back tomorrow when I start class until things get smoothed out more with gingerbread ROMs. It is the fastest sense ROM I have used, looks very clean and sleek especially with the launchers people have made and all the transparent items. Everything he has incorporated into it just makes everything easier for me and it's just the way I like it. It's very stable, I almost never get force closes on anything (except market every once in a while but that's part of android lol). Using the SBC build 131 kernel, I get incredible battery life. 15 hours heavy use, 22 hours with medium use, 30 with light use. Also Myn is just very involved and updates regularly. He reads every post and listens to all the feedback that people have. I have donated to him more than once :)

Well stated.....a very stable and balanced ROM that also delivers good battery life. There always appears to be someone working on updates for this ROM.....no sitting around wondering if the ROM was abandoned.

So far I've only used fresh... it is important to me that everything works. I'll try myns soon and then vote.

myn's is awesome. this was the first rom I flashed. I tried cyanogen, and only had it for about an hour and I was missing myn. Very smooth and clean plus the addition of hulu is awesome. Can't wait for rls5.

Hmmm I just downloaded CM 6.1.2 last night, I wanted to give it a go since Ive always seen good things said about it. I'm getting constant FC's trying to get into the systems sound settings. I wanted to change a ring tone and I cant, the second I touch sound it FC's immediately. I tried rebooting a few times and nothing changed so I went back to what I was using.

I dont know much about CM ROMS so if one of you guys can clarify what the nightly build is and which build is the most current I'd appreciate it. I'd like to give it a try. I went to the link above but I'm uncertain if I picked the correct file....I went to downloads>supersonic (since I saw no Evo listed)> nightly build #203 seemed to be the last build, is this correct?

TIA!

I've only tried fresh so far too and it works really well. I haven't had any problems with anything yet.

When the new version of myns comes out I'll try it next.

im a big fan of myn's but since his is a bit out of date i decided to try something new till his new one comes and im using virus's. It is great, there are little xtras iv found that i like and i changed the kernal right away to the one with great battery life. There are gonna have to be something way cool with myns new one for me to stick with it. Il try it when it comes out but im really diggin virus's new one at the moment.

That is the latest Nightly Build. It was made on the 16th of December. It's been a while since a Nightly has been published. I assume it is because of work on CM7. But that is the latest, and it should be your best bet on the most current update.

The thing about the nightlys is that it is the most experimental of all the ROMs that are used. It is mainly for those who test ROMs for CyanogenMod. It there is an error, it will more than likely be on the Nightly. But it will also the one of the ROMs that the errors are corrected the quickest. But since there has not been an update in some time, I doubt any errors that are there, will be addressed any time soon.

I personally use the latest one, which is the most current.
CyanogenMod 6 - 12.16.2010 #203

I have seen no errors on this one; and have used it since the 16th of December.

I'm gonna have to vote for a rom not listed. I've been using Azrael 2.1, and now 3.0 and I have to say I'm really impressed. I'm not big into themeing so the stockish looks of the rom combined with the really nice transitions are right up my alley. I have had absolutely NO problems at all with the rom and is my default backup whenever I get annoyed with the bugs in the Miui/Gingerbread/ASOP roms I flash.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I actually tried it but unless I dl'ed the wrong copy it was too bare bones for me not including the market and such. I had a copy of gapps on my sd but it wouldn't flash it so I reflashed CM 6.1.2. and the gapps. I like the ROM and it seems to run smoothly but I'm not too keen on losing 4G and swype......I thought they had it now? Also if known, what is the best kernel for this ROM?

I just recently found one in the Nonsense thread (iirc SBC #15) that had to be written by the devil himself! :D That thing has amazing battery life.

Keep sharing your experiences folks, this is the best way for all of us to really learn about new ROM's without having to go chase down their specific threads.

mind sharing which version and where you download - XDA or ?

I don't have a loyalty to any one ROM or favorite...I'm frequently trying out different ones. Right now I'm using Mik's optimized base ROM (pretty darn fast) until one of the Gingerbread builds have GPS properly working...then I'm kissing Froyo and Sense goodbye :)

It's the fastest ROM out the box I've tried by far.

I have been using Fresh's ROMs since I owned a Hero so I guess you can say I'm a bit loyal. I have never come across any issues w/ Fresh so, I just stick with it but I've heard many good things about Myn's ROM.

+1 to Azreal as well.

Iv tried Myns and a few others but so far Azreal has been great and have had no issues.

Ill try RL5 when it comes out however.

Also using SBC kernel and loving the battery life on it!
