This goes back to "The actions of a few affect the many". How many hardcore phone nerds are tethering 4g hours upon hours a day on torrents? I saw it in person the other day.....over on XDA, I've noticed that the biggest reason folks root their phone is for free wireless tethering.

I don't have any problem with "free" wireless tethering, but at some point sprint is going to see some big time congestion on their wimax networks and will adjust plans according. This "premium data" fee for all is just that. There was a press release some months ago with the CEO of sprint saying that he'd love to keep unlimited wireless instead of going the tiered route, but over usage would be the reason it stops.

Some people see "Unlimited" and will milk it for all it's worth, that's just some people's mentality. That's why we'll all be on tiered data plans soon enough......

Sorry to get off topic....

I don't see the "Unlimited", as unlimited. I have myself a 4-5 Gig cap (I use 3G Watchdog Pro), like most carriers have and keep my Network usage at a minimum. I mainly use my mobile network to download CyanogenMod Nightlies updates. I don't milk it. If Sprint called me tomorrow, and told me I'd be paying another 10 bucks a month for Data Usage.. I wouldn't care. I only pay $69 a month for my "Unlimited" plan anyway. :p

If everyone was as reasonable about usage as you are, then we wouldn't have to worry about tiered data plans at all.

I'd have to purposely try to use more than 5 gigs a month. Then again, I have a life outside my phone and have an adequate internet connection on my home pc. I too don't bat an eye over the $10 since we are all paying less than an At&t and Verizon customer for comparable plans.

Like I said before, there are always gonna be people who abuse things such as this and then whine when policy changes.

So back on topic, my permanent go to rom is still Azrael 3.1, but I've yet again been very flash happy and have been playing around with Miui again. If the absence of 4g and HDMI aren't deal breakers I recommend it. I flashed the latest stable build as of now 1.14 or something like that (1.21 is supposedly being released in the next day or so).

There are so many features on this rom stock that you'd have to add to any other sense or ASOP rom it's silly. It's really well thought out and is really clean and uncluttered visually. It does function a little bit like IOS and that's why some people have an issue with it. You can always download a launcher home app like ADW or LP to make it more ASOP like.

The only draw-back is that it's ported from an N1 rom and its source code is closed by its Chinese devs so updates can take a while to be released.

One of the biggest selling points for me is that battery life is phenomenal. I have flashed sense, ASOP, and a couple of other oddball roms and this one wins hands down when it comes to battery(it uses ASOP Kernels). It also is half the size of a sense rom to boot.

You'd think that $10 was $100 by the uproar about it on the forums......

10$ is 120$ if you're thinking in an annual sense, and that's the way I think about my bills.

As to all of you talking about people abusing the data plans, I pay 120$ a year for unlimited data and I expect it to be unlimited. Don't get mad at me, or anyone else, if I make use of it. Now I'm not streaming a lot of video or downloading and uploading torrents or anything, but I do use it for my primary internet connection when I'm home and I'm paying for it.

I'm about to try a new ROMi...

I'm on the last fresh and I've been getting some force closes a lot lately. Especially when using navigation.

I'm torn between mikfroyo and myn's. I planned on using Myns til I started reading today. I need everything to work.

Anyone want to try to sway me?

Miui Rom seems to be more organized and looks better. All of the other ROMS look the same to me (no real difference in looks), do the same and are plain UGLY...Give Miui 1.21 a shot, you wont go back!

What you don't understand is that the "Unlimited data" you're paying for is for your device and your device only, not your laptop, desktop, ipad, etc., etc. That's why there's a charge from sprint to use your device as a wireless modem or hotspot. If you were using data only for your phone the amount would be substantially less, no? Like I said, there are people who aren't paying for tether and using exponentially more data than those that have paid or don't use tethering at all. While that's not ethically right, I'm not judging. But these same people are gonna be up in arms when Sprint turns the spigot off and they have to pay for the amount of data they use. Enjoy it while it lasts.

i think mikfroyo needs to be put into the poll. i just flashed this yesterday and OMG this thing is insanely fast and smooth. and so far the stock kernel is giving me great battery life. and i can't wait til 4.5 comes out.

Well I see your point but I wouldn't be using any more data than I did with my dumb phone if it wasn't for the ability to tether. That may not justify tethering but I certainly feel like I'm getting my 10$ worth since I can tether.

Ran the latest MIUI rom for about a week, best "bells and whistles" rom that I've used. However, since it lacks 4G and caused me issues with VVM (plus probably some more issues that I haven't discovered) I just can't adopt it. Myn's is the best ROM for both "bells and whistles" and functionality IMO

Mikfroyo on my 0004 works best!

-CM6 lost my wi fi / phone screen would not wake up(sometimes) so I could dial or hang up when I was on a call
-warm had the known "internet" freeze at 3/4 progress?? whats that about, I like it, but made it useless to me without full internet service

-so far 3 days on mik's and loving it! less custom mods than some,,, but for me... works

The above statement is not accurate re: Myn's (warm) ROM. The problem is Ad Free.

There are at least 50 to 100 post in Myn's thread regarding the built in ad blocker and the problem with the host files. Simply update the program, hit Revert then update host files. Very simple. This is more for those who might be interested in the ROM not to be skewed by misinformation.

Yeah, even though I enjoy Miui quite a bit, I just can't get over some of the shortcomings of the rom, it's the same with all the ASOP stuff really. I just tried CM6.1.2 after trying a custom CM7 nightly and am now flashing my trusty Azrael 3.1 backup. Can't stand the random reboots and really don't have the time to figure out which kernel is good for my phone since there are a dozen of them out there. At some point I just want the phone to work.

Ugly is a strong word and subjective. :D
But I agree, I'm now running MIUI full time, I love it. No other ROM has this much control built in, doesn't mean others cant simulate, you just need to DL those additional features via other apps. I've had the absolute best battery performance with this latest build too!
MIUI has a lot to offer but it does lack 4G, which I'm not too crazy about since it's finally reached my area (office) but still nothing near my home so I cant use it as often anyhow. Besides, I get the feeling it's coming to AOSP sooner than anyone's willing to admit. I like the fact that it's tiny in size compared to Sense ROM's......some of those seemed to take forever to install, not so much with the AOSP ROMs, I like that. Lastly, for those experiencing problems, I strongly recommend running calkulins format all before installing.

i agree mikfroyo 4.5 is awesome!!!!
however, i am trying out king's ultra froyo and so far so good i am liking it. pretty fast and smooth. about the same as mik's. i'm giving it a few more days before i decide which one i will use for awhile.

you know thats base of Mik's v4.2 rom rite?

yeah i know. i have been trying out roms that are all based on mik's optimizations but for some reason or another i always end up going back to the original source. but i kind of like my latest rom right now. i like the minimalist theme going on this rom.

How come no MikFroyo in the poll?
There is no particular reason other than it wasn't a consistent first page ROM on XDA at the time I started the poll. Until 6 weeks ago, I don't think the MikFroyo craze existed. :D

Those of you who are sweet on the Sense ROM's owe to yourself to install and give at least a half day to MIUI. It'll blow you away!

I have to be one of it's biggest fans, even though I didn't vote for it in my own poll! LOL!

There has to be at least 10 functions built into this ROM that you'd have to download on most Sense ROM's. And the ROM is still only about 100MB.

Mik Froyo 4.4 is what I use, haven't flashed to the 4.5 quite yet.

4.5 is good. However if you like 4.4 just stick out until he gets his new base 4.5 done. He's going to create a base and then all the different mods/theme's will be flashable.

Fair enough. Yeah I am actually going to flash Mik's version of MIUI just to freak some of my iphone friends out. However if I wanted an iPhone I would have just got one.;)

I'm rolling with MikFroyo 4.5 so far. I have the Fresh zip on my SD card but haven't bothered to flash it yet since I'm content with MikFroyo. I don't want to go without 4G, so I guess there are limited options right? Is there a list of the available ROMs that support 4G?

any sense based roms will have 4g working. it is when you go to aosp roms (non sense roms) that you get 4g and hdmi not working. there is a beta of cyanogen mod out there that has 4g working. i heard that there are some bugs that needs to be worked out.

here is a list of roms:HTC Supersonic/ROMs - XDA-Developers
in the base rom column if you see aosp those are non-sense roms and do not have 4g working
