I just downloaded MikFroyo last night, after a few hrs of navigating around it I'm not overly thrilled about it. It's better than many other I've tried but Im not too crazy about the email/message client, too bland imho.

As far as Sense ROMs go, Nonsense and Fresh are def my favs so far.....still waiting on Myn's next release.

Kinda looking forward to CM7 release too, I had CM6 running, I liked it a lot but it had some bugs that wouldn't go away.

I voted for Myn but what I really don't see is the difference in Cyanogen and Myn2.2 is? Can anyone who has tried Myn explain the difference in it and other ROMs? Myn's works great for me so I see no real reason to change.

Hmmm, what similarities do you see between the two?

Myn is Sense based vs CM being AOSP, imho, CM is very different than all Sense ROMs.

I use Launcher Pro Plus and Beautiful Widgets with all the ROM's I load. I really don't need Sense. So loading Sense into my EVO with Myn is not the best way to free up memory. Also, the fact that I don't have to load an extra program to tether with CM6.1.2 is just gravy. CM6 provides a Hotspot natively. Additionally, I like being able to hold the back button to kill what ever program I am using, rather than backing out of it. The ultra bright flashlight is cool too. It uses both LED's full on. Another plus, the battery life is the best of all the roms I have tried. If you are coming from another rom, remember to do a full wipe to eliminate any bugs. And always-always-always do a Nandroid backup before you change anything on your currently working phone. And while you are at it, backup your gapps so you can load them later with CM6. Note: Swype, Shapewriter, Slide-It keyboards all work on CM6. It just depends on what you want to download.

i've loved the last 3 or 4 versions of mikfroyo. this one i have a little loyalty too, just like what mik has done. but i still try out different roms.

Another vote for MikFroyo. I used Myns 2.2 since I had my evo and loved it. But I'm a big Mik's fan now. Its a lot faster to me than Myn's was. I do wish Mik's had a better theme like Myn's.

I've been using Myn's since RLS1 and I can't see myself leaving. I've tried a few others before I found Myn's, but I wasn't really pleased. His ROM just seems to be a more complete experience, in terms of speed, battery life, aesthetics as well as support.

I started with flipz's Fresh and had it for a few iterations. I tried Myn's 2.2 Warm ROM and never looked back. Flipz has been pretty with life in general, so it hasn't been his primary focus (unless things have changed since around October). Myn's ROM is so smooth and pleasing to the eye as well as stable. Not to mention, he is very involved.

I started with Calkulin's EViO 2 v1.6.2 it was fast, but not stable on my phone with the 3.30 base (I have HW 0003, old camera chip). Need to try again since Calk updated to the 3.70 base, he is an amazing developer. ;)
Moved on to RicSim78's Azrael X (Missing from the list) v2.1 Director's Cut, then v3.0, & v3.1, fast & stable, amazing transitions, & 400+ MB free space on clean install. Was simply amazing with Riptide9's Color N Clear theme & Slayer69's Mods & transitions. :D
Currently on Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS 5 & I have to say the available Mods & Tweaks are nearly unlimited. From boot animations, to themes, to kernels. Very stable, reasonably fast. Definitely one of my favorites, so far... :D:D
ROMs on my list to try:
Netarchy's Burnt Droid, if his ROM is anything like his kernels it should be screaming fast!
Vaelek's Vaelpak v3.0 Senseless Sense sounds interesting!!!

Its MIUI MADNESS...YES.... Iphone for Android!!!!!!

That is precisely why I don't like that ROM, too iPhone-ish. If I wanted my EVO to look like an iPhone, I would've BOUGHT an iPhone, LOL.

Although, their clocks & music player are very nice I must admit.

a drop of Clint Eastwood's semen landed on an iPhone & the EVO 4G was born...:eek:

Voted for Fresh since it is the only one I have used. I know it works for me and this is my business phone, can't risk being down. I plan to try some others after I read enough good reviews/reports on them.

Word of advice, TRY THEIR LATEST ROM...1.14!!!

Forget that it looks like an Iphone, this thing is feature packed with options you'd only be able to mimic by downloading more apps then implementing them. The devs hit this one out of the park so much so that I essentially gave up 4G to keep this ROM. Mind you, I've flashed well over a dozen ROM's in the past 2-3 months, I feel that strongly about this one.

^ Ok well, maybe I was a little overly enthusiastic when I said that, truth is 4G is only available at the office, if I had it where I live I might feel differently. Hell, I've been paying for that service for months before it was even available in NNJ.

Salvage Mod runs great. I assume its as close as possible to a pure-stock gingerbread. I don't see many changes other than the boot screen.

Saw the new thread on XDA right after I posted this, looks amazing! DL'd it last night just for kicks. Main concerns for me are stability, bluetooth HAS to work reliably, & 4G would be nice. But it does look awesome. ;)

 No ROM is worth that to me, that's an extra $10 a month for nothing!

To each his own though.

Soon everyone will be paying that extra $10 a month regardless. I'd maybe feel the same if 4g had better coverage and the signal was stronger in the areas where I do have coverage.

You'd think that $10 was $100 by the uproar about it on the forums......

Mikfroyo on my 0004 works best!

-CM6 lost my wi fi / phone screen would not wake up(sometimes) so I could dial or hang up when I was on a call
-warm had the known "internet" freeze at 3/4 progress?? whats that about, I like it, but made it useless to me without full internet service

-so far 3 days on mik's and loving it! less custom mods than some,,, but for me... works

Bought my EVO 4G Monday, rooted it Wednesday, flashed MikFroyo Thursday, decided today (Friday) that it was all that I expected - AND MORE!

Unless something drastic happens, I'll never switch!

Well, coming from a Pre, I could use just as much data on that phone as my Evo so the "premium data" line is a bunch of phooey. Same with the 4g argument. The closest 4g cell in my state is hours away.

However, this phone is better than any other on Sprint, so I will gladly pay the extra $10. I just wish they would roll it into the "unlimited" data plan and stop calling it a fee. That word is way overused these days, and it just tends to make some people mad.

The $10 4G charge.. Sprint now calls it the Unlimited Service Charge (Probably not lol)

Sprint is saying all of their devices now REQUIRE a $10 a month charge no matter if the phone is 4G capable or not. Sprint says it is to help KEEP their unlimited plans, UNLIMITED..

Me personally.. I don't mind it. If Sprint can hold their own and not go the way of Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T.. I will be ecstatic! But I am pretty sure sooner or later they will have a Tiered plan just like all the others..

BUT.. And there is a BIG-ASS "BUT"... I don't care! lol I have unlimited, and if they decide to change their policies.. I should be safe ;) If not, I will raise 10 kinds of hell!

Interesting that a lot of people think this way, personally, I think it'd be exactly what the other carriers are hoping for......I cant help but wonder if since the other carriers have gone 'limited' if Sprint's new membership has increased.

This goes back to "The actions of a few affect the many". How many hardcore phone nerds are tethering 4g hours upon hours a day on torrents? I saw it in person the other day.....over on XDA, I've noticed that the biggest reason folks root their phone is for free wireless tethering.

I don't have any problem with "free" wireless tethering, but at some point sprint is going to see some big time congestion on their wimax networks and will adjust plans according. This "premium data" fee for all is just that. There was a press release some months ago with the CEO of sprint saying that he'd love to keep unlimited wireless instead of going the tiered route, but over usage would be the reason it stops.

Some people see "Unlimited" and will milk it for all it's worth, that's just some people's mentality. That's why we'll all be on tiered data plans soon enough......

Sorry to get off topic....

That post deserves a 'Thanks Bro' in the form of my reply, not no silly button!!!

Hahaha..but seriously.. I hear ya. A lot of people (and some i know) complain about the 10 bucks a month. Hey, Ill gladly pay it, its STILL cheaper than most other plans, and i dont have to worry about my minutes or data. New ATT customers are suckin it now with this 300mb and 2gb plans.. lol.

I would imagine so. I remember talking to someone a while back though, and we were saying how the 'data' is what is important to people more and more though. They are spending more time on their phone, not to mention how many apps are always 'syncing' and updating information over-the-air. We were saying how they are going to do away with plans based on your 'minutes' and start plans based on how much 'data' you want...with text and minutes being added to that like text and data is now.

I think ATT doing their thing is the beginning of it. And sprint could follow suit. But as of now, i think it is the way they are gaining customers, so hopefully it wont happen soon.

Either way, we are all in, so we should get the grandfather lol.
