Telling someone "it's one of the best times you'll ever have" might not be the smartest thing to do when that person seems to hate his life. :p

Happiness is not what you have or don't have, it's the perception you have of your own life. Of course sometimes it's going to suck. However, if you have something to look forward to and can't really do anything to change your current situation, you'll probably have to wait it out.

Driving, drinking and having your first "real" girlfriend/boyfriend are usually stuff people look forward to... I don't think being a teenager sucks that much. ;)
