Root Alpha Froyo from Punk Kaos

All indications are that its voodoo or bust for kaos froyo going forward from him...,but i suppose its possible someone will.try to build nonvoodoo for it...but with all that is involved.in flashing and recovering from froyo...,voodoo5 is the least of the worries

jit is important...but since a lot of apps/programs dont utilize it fully its not as important or critical as its made out to be imo.
 
its probably nice for the devs that supercurio made voodoo5 so compatible between eclair, froyo and gb. I agree with NOsquid on the importance of JIT but concur with JIT thats its not the cornerstone of the OS either. At PK's rate of program its going to be working sooner or later.

You guys dont know how close I was this morning to jumping on v2, everything is on my sdcard. Then my phone rings and I knew it would be a long one. 45 minutes later and after simultaneously making kids breakfast and what not I realized I live on BT and thus no v2 for me. Heck no v-anything till BT works probably :(

Beside I learned how easy Odin was doing it.

BTW its pretty usable now as a phone (if you don't use bt) and internet device.
Still no camera or wifi but i've been using it all days and its pretty slick. Talk about smoooooth and NO LAG! woot!
 
Honestly, don't get too excited about speed until it's finished. Remember that a bunch of things that are supposed to be running are broken, freeing up resources.

Zing! ;) Hey I've been lead dog more than once on an SF experiment, just sharing the wealth and again I dont think anyone reading this uses BT more than I do :p
 
It seems almost pointless to go with a non-voodoo kernel for use with 2.2. I mean since it makes everything smoother, and more efficient using the ext4 file system why bother slowing it down and releasing a non-voodoo kernel where instead we can kind of move everyone towards using a voodoo kernel and basically as long as they all stay to the point where I can just flash a newer voodoo kernel over a previous there really should end up being less problems. Plus with what nitsuj and others are saying about how fast 2.2 is it seems like it would be a waste to slow it down.

I'm holding out for a few more versions, I don't use BT at all. I don't even have any bluetooth devices, but wifi would be nice. Glad to see kaos just steamrolling right through this. At this rate an official Samsung 2.2 release won't even matter.

Oh I'm curious, just for a comparison what kind of quadrant scores are you guys pulling on your 2.1 devices on voodoo5? After I read what nitsuj said he got on 2.2 with JIT not even enabled I was curious what everyone else was seeing.

More than that, you must have an existing voodoo5 kernel on prior to flashing Koasinate rom and kernel.

I use it daily, was the main reason I flashed back to dj05 after sampling the Eclair AOSP

What would I do without Angry Birds while my g/f tells me about her day :)

Well thats my slam dunk Kaosinate v3 here I come....when PK drops it ;)

NOsquid I actually have 2 BT's myself, its ridiculous 99% of my calls are on BT. Half that is convenience and half is I literally cannot hold the phone to my head for too long. And speaker isnt good for privacy so BT 99% of the time for me

Or Sunday [today] PK has a new kernel in testing as well. Problem is the BT isnt fixed and I guess there are still recovery issues and he's trying to make each step forward a genuine step forward
