Root [ROM] ApeX 1.3.1 for Droid X - Running, running, as fast as it can (12/16/10)

i just wish there was a red gingerbread theme for apex, if more themes were made for apex id be in heaven, cause i flash themes all the time, right now running the Radioactive cause apparently i bypassed it somehow, but i really do help the themes made for liberty can find there way to apex ^_^

in all honesty how do you make themes? i would gladly give it a shot, is there a link to a wiki or some kind of how-to?
Id be interested in that as well. Im pretty good with photoshop and editing, when I looked into doing some Im afraid I got stumped at signing and making apks

Im rooted have bootstraper have rom manager have apex downloaded to sd card do I have to do a full wipe or not then what. Noob friendly answers have never did a rom job.

FINALLY got the courage to install ApeX (after a couple glasses of a fine white wine), don't know what I was worried about. LOVE IT
Now, I want to play around with themes. how does one install the gingerbread or revolution themes (I've downloaded the zip files from FabDroid wiki page?
Thanks to all who helped.............I'll never go back! (well, at least not until Gingerbread comes out for the x)

If you scroll down the first post in this thread there are directions. Basically place the zip file in the root of the SD card. Make sure you change the USB connection to charge only or even better, unplug the phone from the PC. Start up bootstrap Recovery, wait for it to say "success" then tap the lower tab "reboot recovery" and the phone will reboot.

After a few moments you will see a bunch of green text along the top of the display. use your volume controls to move down, the red camera button to select, and the power button on top to go back. you will format data, format cache. Then use the back button and find install zip from SD card, use the volume controls to move down and locate it, then the camera button to select it. There will be another safety box that comes up with a string of NO's and part way down the list a YES. Highlight the yes and its on its way to installing. wait until the display says install is complete and the green text returns then hit the back button and select reboot. When the phone finally finishes booting (takes longer than normal) you will have to input your email and password and then set your phone back up as you like.

Installation Instructions: Please have a nandroid of your current setup in case this is not for you :)

Users coming from 1.3.0 may be safe to keep data and cache. If there are problems, then factory reset. - Uninstall updates to Market and Google Voice Search if they're there under Settings->Applications->Manage Applications first.

-Place file on your sdcard. Bootstrap recovery and reboot recovery
-Navigate to mounts and storage. FORMAT data, and cache
-Return to previous menu and install .zip from sd card
-Choose ApeX and install!

This is so wierd. After loading Apex, I can not figure out how to add a direct dial icon on a homescreen. I had two before, using LPP, and they remained when I reloaded LPP, but I can't add another either with LPP or GO Launcher or ADW. Any ideas?

Can someone help? I accidently replaced my dialer shortcut with something else on the launcher. Then when I tried to put the dialer icon back, it now has a funny icon, it looks like a circle instead of the phone. How can I get the dialer icon with the green phone back?

did you ever get it to work?

No, an icon/contact picture that automatically dials a specific contact phone number rather than just going to that contact's data. Like one touch dialing........

Widgets Contact quick tasks
select the contact select what you want it to do, it may say make the widget bigger, just hit select later
then hit the + Add button on the widget on your screen
select the call feature
once its in place hit the call feature, and it should pop up enable 1 touch dialing or something like that

and that should do it

let me know if thats what you wanted or if it works, i just did it to mine thats how i know

I asked this earlier but never really got much of a solid response.

I currently have ApeX 1.0. I loved it, got busy with other things, couldn't keep pace with all the ROMs and updates and such.

I want to upgrade to Apex 1.3. What do I have to do to make that happen?

your system version needs to be 2.3.340
DROID X 2.3.340 System SBF Released for 2.3.320 Leak Users - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

now im at work at the page is blocked but i do believe thats what you need, just sbf to it :) and if your version was like mine 2.3.15 or something like that it will work if you sbf to 2.3.340
i know this because i sbf'd to it cause i couldnt get the OTA so there ya go champ, just make sure you follow the instructions on how to sbf if you dont know how or never done it, you need RSD Lite 4.8
youtube has a video of how to reverting back to stock 2.1 on your droid x, i have the video favorited on my personal computer so i cant locate it on this machine. So good luck and thats all you need to do bud. any more questions or help just ask ^_^

Thanks, I did see that. I don't like how big the picture is and can't seem to change that. A work-around that I found is going back to old school - using Any Cut - that does what I want to.
As long as I'm typing, how does one get the battery icon that shows the percentage left in the notification bar.
Also, how does one install a theme for ApeX 1.3.1?

Anyone know how to get rid of the voicemail icon I have in my notification tab? It's in the top left part of the screen and it will never go away. It says I have 1 new voicemail, but I don't. I cleared it and its still there, deleted my voicemails, etc.. It's the only thing that irritates me!

Thanks for the help.

do you have visual voicemail or standard voicemail? google voice even?

and i think apex 1.3.0 had some issues but 1.3.1 doesnt seem to have any force clooses so you should try to flash the new 1.3.1 rom and you may enjoy it better

After fiddling around with every other rom around, I'm back on ApeX 1.3.1 because it's the best one for me. I love it. I always have. I am glad to see you are looking into putting a toolbox in a la fission/liberty/tranQ-ish roms.

I want to be able to change the "Verizon Wireless" in the pulldown menu as I did in Liberty in case I lose the phone. Hey, you never know, right?

I'd like to be able to have options in the toobox for transitions, themes, fonts, boot logos and animations. Also app options (which are now in Terminal Emulator), ad block and build.prop options and OC options perhaps.

Anyway, this remains my number one recommended Rom. :)
