for those interested...
I got the replacement phone last night. It was running DI01 and Swype worked wonderfully. And then 20 minutes later the phone started freezing up and the Market wouldn't let me do anything with it, and the four buttons at the bottom of the phone wouldn't work. I checked to make sure it wasn't a touch screen issue (once the phone would finally unfreeze) and it wasn't. I could use the entire screen in other apps (I had only managed to download a few)....before they froze as well.
I called Verizon so I could re-activate my old Fascinate. They are sending a replacement for the replacement...LAME! It's due to get here on Monday. However, I'm mulling over the idea of living with the issues I have with my current phone in hopes that Froyo will fix all of it.
I read two articles yesterday. One stated T-Mobile is starting to update their Galaxy S phones starting today, and the other says Sprint is telling their Galaxy S customers they'll get it ASAP. So, I'm holding out hope that it means VZW will get it out soon. (

Needless to say, between everything I read up on and talking to you guys in this forum, every single Verizon tech support person I talk to tells me I know more about Android than they do and know more about the current and new phones coming out. That's a little frustrating knowing that (1) I don't know that much and (2) they should know enough to be able to help me with the issues on my phone.
Anyway, as I said...I'm on the fence on whether or not to even bother trying another Fascinate (and the DI01 instead of DL09). Any comments and suggestions would be helpful. And for those thinking about suggesting I just buy a new phone that isn't Samsung....thought of it. I'm waiting for the next round of phones. Not a MOT fan, but tossing around the idea of DROID Bionic since the other phones I liked from CES aren't going to be available on VZW.
