Root How To Install The Icarus MOD

Please help. ...already installed go sms. ..tried the fix and backed up and deleted messages....my mms still not working .....what do I do? :(
 
what if i reset the phone back to stock im thinking the problem may be somthing ive done prior to my feeble attempts at icarus i know this cant hurt but is it worth my time also im considering using a seperate sd for icarus having 3 and a shit box lap top this pos wont let me copy my sd to anything i can right click then select copy but thats where it stops there is no concequence for those actions what do you all think because i do beleve im in over my head

I think you have a good idea. Flash back to stock and start over. As soon as you do be sure to back up your stock rom to your computer or another SD card. Why not keep them separate. Sounds good to me if don't mind spending the cash for the extra SD cards. ;) Keep us informed please.
 
When found the instructions to flash back to stock it said hold volume(dont remember up or down) and end key while phone powers on is this right im not tryng to question anyones knowlege im just unsure i gave it a go using those steps and ended with my phone stuck in the huawei screen and the instructions refer to my os which is the computers right? Also the download link was good but my lap top with windows 7 couldnt open the file it contained 1 or more .zip files i beleve the post was in the forum ascend-all-things-root and how to flash ascend back to stock thanks all for your help and i will let you know If this works

There's really not a lot you can do about the mms until there is a surefire fix. The techies are working constantly on it so I'm sure there will be one out soon. Did you try the latest mms.apk? Some have had success with it. You can find it in the sticky guide here.

Good luck with it! It might just be one of those things you have to live with if you like the Icarus! ;)

is there anyway you can post a link to the updated version? like i said i found the mms.apk and did it like 5 times and it wont work

But please bear in mind it is not even from the Ascend phone. It's from another phone all together but has been working for some as a fix for the mms probs.

yeah that one didnt work either. thank you so much for trying can you maybe point me in the right direction of getting this off my phone and back to the way i bought it if not its cool. this works great well expect the mms shit.
 
  • Use root explorer and put the Mms.apk on your SD card.
  • Use root explorer and move it to /system/app (make sure it's set to R/W) and reboot.


After you replace the original Mms.apk - Don't try to install it, just reboot!

hi there joser, i have a problem at step 5 where you say to pm you but im not seeing where to pm so im asking here. my prob is that while following these instructions i ended up at step 5 and the first time i tried it it just said cwm 3.0.0.5 and i tried again and now it wont let me back into cwm recovery at all. ive been asking on myascend.org and noone seems to know what to do to get back into cwm recovery. my drivers are all up-to date and debugging is checked, ????? ive tried alot on my own, do you have any ideas? thanx ;)
 
ok so after i had everything situated i did all the steps and it froze on the Green Android guy with fadeing screens for more than 15 minutes it was a total of 26 minutes then i pulled the battery did the format boot and fix permissions and it still wont do anything. after i fix boot it wont load and sticks on the huawei screen after i fix permissions it wont load either the same way so i have to go back to my back up i made.. what am i doing wrong or possibly missing. should i have debugging on? idk what to do. if you have an idea plz PM Thank-You
 
I installed the Icarus 1.1 (which has the MMS fix built in). and like most of the people who have installed it, I'm really liking it.
 
I just switched over to Icarus and so far i have had zero regrets, its smooth its simple its everything anyone could want, many infinite thanks to all those behind this ROM and to those who have created this very simple walkthrough.

yes debugging should be on, BUT your phone has to be rooted before upgrading to ICARUS.....and if you pull your battery before installation completed your will mess yourself good, make sure you have a good charge...and btw make sure you have cwm 2xxxx and not 3xxxx. Which version you trying to install, icarus1.0 or 1.1

yes im rooted with debugging on and have all backups. I have 2xxxx and i have everything on the instructions done correctly but after the mod is done and i reboot it go's to the android fading screen and just loop's so i format boot like the instructions say and still nothing happens, it just locks at the huawei screen and same thing with fix permissions so from there im stuck. and im useing icarusmod 1.0
 
when i get to wipe dalvik cache it says E:cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2(no such file or directory) whats wrong?
