Oh and damn I seem to be having a bit of a problem. It's with sending long messages, like after a text goes beyond 2 (pages I guess?) it refuses to send. I seem to be able to send shorter messages. I don't know about picture messaging etc, but I did try the MMS fix that I saw below the install guide and I just did it, followed everything to the letter, but I guess it's still not working. I'm going to keep looking for an answer! I hope it's a simple fix, hell it could have nothing to do with the Icarus mod and maybe something with Cricket, who knows! but I know I like sending long messages and short ones!

Ive been facing the same issues with Icarus since i installed it last week. I just look at the pro's and con's of the rom and i feel that its so good i can do without MMS, though this 2.2 Froyo rom is looking pretty tempting right now.

Yeah I guess I should have totally read more into this thread, haha. I see that its a thing. I agree though it is just so much nicer it's worth splitting my long winded text messages.

So there is a 2.2 rom I'll have to look into that and see how to do it and how it is for sure. What's the point of having this neato future phone if I can't play with it.
 
I concur, i love playing around with my phones as long as i dont brick them :) I'm gonna install the new 2.2 and do a review on here like i semi did for icarus.
 
I rooted and installed the Icarus Rom on my Cricket Ascend last night. Everything went smoothly the first time, thanks for all the excellent guides. I only had one problem and I figured it out, so I guess I'll post it here or maybe someone else already has, anywayz. After installing Icarus, my clock was about 4 hours off, what was mentioned in the guide about the launcherpro fix didn't help at all. Also, I couldn't download anything from the Market either, also MMS wouldn't work which I expected that beforehand after reading through and through this thread. The option to change the time was not available as it is locked on Auto. So after searching for an hour, amazing what a search can do, I ran across a thread on My Ascend that mentioned that putting your phone into airplane mode would allow you to change the time and time zone, after correcting the time, I was also able to download from the Market. I tried the MMS thing though and it has yet to work I may try to redo everything or maybe not, I rarely use MMS.

I have uninstalled my stock apps I don't use with TiBu to make more room. I'm not going to flash the Icarus because I want to make sure I can get the 2.2 update when it comes from the carrier through the manuf.

I am being barraged with PMs from users who are having probs trying to do the Icarus and other things.

I'm happy just being rooted for now and it gives me the ability to do basically anything I want without any bugs or mms probs.

The link I gave you to the Clockwork Mod should be detailed.

After running beautifully, I have developed an mms problem on my ascend while using the Icarus mod. Where exactly is the cure? I have previously changed the mms.apk using the 803 kb replacement, but that didn't solve it for me. Can someone provide suitable help? Thanks, Spinalzo.
 
I found my problem. Corrupt sms messages loaded back into the machine when I did the system restore. I backed them up with another program and deleted them from the Icarjus text message storage area and the mms now works fine. So, thanks for all the help.
 
I did the icarus mod and everything is great but I just found out I cant download picture messages. Is anyone having same problem and can someone help me with it.

Try doing the same thing that Spinalzo did in the quote above. Maybe it will help you too.
 
My thought was that I had corrupted my mms when I loaded on my past text items and it proved to be true. Every time I turned on the phone I would get the message that the mms was shutting down. I backedup all the text items using an app that I downloaded off the android market called SMS BackUp & Restore which was labelled as being an SMS archive storage application. It allows you to backup all or even portions of the texts and view them later under seperate headings or to restore them to your telephone partially or in total depending upon how you stored and labelled them. Well, upon restoring the items to my telephone, it told me that 3000+ texts had been restored successfully and 1 had failed. It had loaded all of the successful ones and deleted the failed item. Now my mms works and I have an app for archiving - either in total or in part under different time lines. I am fairly certain that the problems being experienced might be due to corrupted text items that are compromising the Icarus mms system. Maybe I was just lucky, but it cured my problem and now the phone is perfect. The SMS Backup & Restore is also just a great application too - take a look at it.

Upon inspection, I don't think that this program will keep pictures and media, but it keeps the texts very well.
 
Reverting back to the original is pretty easy to do. Copy this link into your browser and download the original ROM directly from Huawei:

Once you download the zip, open it partially and you will find a PDF file that will detail to you the process. It's an easy restore and the machine again does everything to you to return you to your prior condition. I have done it three times already and it's a snap. I have used both ways and they are both easy. One way is to put it on your micro sdcard and let the cwm go through the process of unzipping it and the other way is to unzip it and place the upload package on the sdcard and go through the reset to factory in the settings of the phone. Good luck.

(I would suggest everyone have this original ROM anyway and just keep it on their computer or at least the link to where they can get it.)
 
well yesterday, i got bored looking at my regular ascend so i did the icarus mod, and WOW....lolz my phone is even faster than before when i had setcpu, and when i put that back on there....i dont even have the words for it...but only problem was the mms which i fix in no time with root explorer and flash the mms apk file, easy as pie...Thanks to the hard working peoples of icarus and all the great members here as well, and if anyone having problems i will be more than happy to help you.:D:D:D:D:D:D
 
5)Once it is done, unplug USB cable and take out the battery for 10 seconds and try to get into recovery by turning phone off and pressing and holding Volume Up, Call key, and Power until the black Clockwork screen comes out. Keep those buttons pressed until the clockwork mod screen comes out..Check to see if Clockwork is at version 2.xxx. If it is showing version 3.xxxx, select reboot system now and PM me about it. You can not move further. However, if it is showing version 2.xxx, move on to the next step.


this is where my problem starts i cant go on cuz mines v3.0.0.5 what is the problem? and how do i get past it?
