Root [ROM] CM7 Nightlies EVO Community

Any one have suggestions for kernels, I am new to AOSP and don't know much about the kernels it has, and I know a kernel will vary in performance from phone to phone but I would just like a couple of suggestions so I can test them out for myself.

Is anybody else having problems getting into the sound menu? I go to settings, then click on the sound submenu, and without fail I get a force close, saying:

The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has[...]

I'm on nightly number 3, and the only thing I've done is install a theme to make the notification pulldown transparent.

Also I threw in the flag on LP, was never much of a fan of ADW, but ADW ex definitely shows some greatness (a ton more options than the free version). And finally no more launcher FC
Yep.. i was longtime LP fan... I miss the widgets, but adw runs much smoother on cm7... read somewhere CM supports it over LP ie:
LP = closed source
ADW = Open source..
anyway, was able to recreate my lp setup 100% without the widgets

2 things I try when things are off. 1st I try fixing permissions in CM
If that does not work, I lose the theme. I love some CM themes, but with the nightly changes.. it's megga work due to framework changes etc..
I'm sure when CM7 is final final, we will see tons of mods/themes etc

i'm on the wimax cm7 rom and after a couple days it started locking up and i'm getting fc's on everything. i did a restore back to when it was working right. anyone else have these problems?

anyone had issues getting their bluetooth earpieces to connect on CM7? I've had problems with it since nightly 37 pre RC1. I'm now on RC1 nightly #3 and still can't get it to work.

Anyone have any tips to help me out, or is something I'll have to live without?

I just flashed nightly # 5 ... still no gps or 4g . Going back to myns to keep my evo warm. I'll return when I see stability in a ginger bread rom.

Wimax code has been merged into cm base, and will be in nightly #6.

My GPS works after preforming the gps clear fix. It both locks onto me and i can use navigation.

for me, rls 6 (wimax) fail.
wimax speedtest ~ 1/2 slower on cm7 than miks (did a nand restore to check)
dialer wakelock 55 minutes in the 1.5 hours I ran.
For now, im back to nightly 5 until they get it better
:(

You know, I'm STILL having issues with CM7, all of them, where my phone will slow to a crawl and freeze. It happens multiple times. Anyone else still having this issue?

Happened to me a few times, and I'm on CM7 RC1. It was so slow, I could barely unlock it, and reboot. Worked fine after the reboot, though.

I had the latest gingerbread build with Wimax, but now that it's been incorporated into the nightly, do I need to wipe data prior to installing? The thread over at XDA says to just install the ROM. I assume I should wipe cache and dalvik right? I would rather not delete all my user data (again) if I don't need to.

I have nandroid restored back to my RC1. That was after flashing over it with the WiMax gingerbread 6 download... I'll wait until its a bit more stable out there before I flash to the next build. Anyone that has ventured forth, plesae let us know what your experiance has been... Thanks

Other than GPS having an issue, nightly 6 runs great. Just flashed savaged-zen kernel, will see how that goes

I need some wimax help on this. When I lose my wimax connection, it shows both the 4G and 3G indicators....it appears that the 3G is active since the arrows flash. How do I know it's trying to re-connect to 4G?

When I go into Wimax setting, hit menu, and press "scan" it doesn't say that it's actively scanning like it does when you intitially enable wimax. Am I missing something? Is it always scanning behind the scenes? My connection here at work is spotty at best, but on a sense based rom I can hold a connection even if it's not a very good one, and it's still way faster than 3G.

I don't seem to have any issues with WiMax or GPS.... I'm now on Build 6 and I've also installed a version of the MIUI music app that seems to work brilliantly. My issue is an aesthetic one. When receiving calls, my look screen (sliding tabs) stand vertically as if to unlock my phone I should pull up or to decline I should pull down.... Any reason for this, anyone else experiencing this issue?

edit..

I also added the link to device lookup on cyanogenmods site to the first page... it would seem the site is down. All links point to a bad gate way. Here is a link to build 7 guys... http://mirror.kanged.net/nightly/supersonic/cm_supersonic_full-7.zip I'll be trying this shortly... Build 6 seems to be doing fine, but gotta push on.

Okay I am running RC1 with RA recovery and I am wondering if it is okay to uninstall ROM manager I don't use it and don't really want it. Also if it is okay should I just use Titanium backup to uninstall it because in the market it only gives the option to uninstall updates.

I'm using the baked in wifi tether right now on my iPad with 0 problems. Are you using wifi tether from the market or the one baked in?
I can't get the Wireless Tether from the market to work. Where can I find the one "baked in"?

Nevermind, found it in Wireless Settings. Wish there was an easy way to make a link on the "desktop"

You can toggle it in the notifications bar. Menu>Settings>CyanogenMod-Settings>Interface>Notification-Power-Widget>Widget-Buttons>Select "Toggle Wifi AP". You can then access it by pulling down the notifications bar from the top of the main screen.

So I've been real busy lately, and didn't even notice that nightly's added WiMaX, so yea baby, back on the nightly train (was only using gginggerbread 6 until original cm7 came thru with WiMaX). All is working solid, and i even got my wife off sense and on the nightly's (the sense rom is just a serious battery hog, and seems to be very unstable, reboots, fc's, and just buggy in general, I personally was only on it for about the hour that it took me to get home from purchasing the phone and rooting it, so never really noticed for myself). Go Cyanogenmod 7... :D

BTW I just loaded nightly 8 this morning, and all seems to be rock solid so far...

Oh, I haven't noticed any GPS issues since like nightly 36ish, but i do still have GPS Status loaded on my phone, and it does reload aGPS every so often, but honestly i don't think that has anything to do with it. Now on the other hand, i cant get Bluetooth file transfer to work, at least on the receiving end, I get some OPP error (I don't have my phone on me right now, so I can't remember exactly what it was, but i do know that OPP was part of it, and i think it said OBEX could not be found, and to make sure the device is discoverable). If anyone can help me with that I'de appreciate it...

Hey guys! :) I've been using the CM7 nightlies for a few weeks now, and once I used the Sense ROM fix for the GPS, nearly everything is running swimmingly besides a couple of random bootups, which could either be the ROM or the kernel (Savaged Zen .07), but other than that it's running as smooth as silk for me. Knock on wood. I am totally loooooooooooooving it too.

Wait, WiFi AP is for the WiFi hotspot?
