[ROM] aospCMod | AOSP 2.3.4 / CM7 (Gingerbread) [05/23/11]

I just flashed the latest clockworkmod (v2.5.0.7) and it is back to the way I remember. I'll do the wipe and install now.

OK go to the market and download Clockworkmod and the open and flash the recovery image, then once done we will have you boot into recovery and wipe as mentioned. To boot into recovery, you hold the volume down button and the end key at the same time for 2 seconds, then once prompted hit the home key to get into recovery, then do s backup, once there wipe as mention, then flash both Rom and Gapps and then reboot

Yep. I sure did. I am still considering going back to stock and doing a complete wipe of the SD card. Is that even possible? What files need to be on the SD card for stock android use? I have so many files and directories that need cleaned up and trashed I don't know where to begin.

I would back up the entire SD card first of course.

Make sure you make a back up first

Yes you can format, but you need the proper files in there, if you would of done a backup of your SD card when you first rooted, that would have been ideal, for now, I would simply do as you mentioned, you do not need to go back to stock for now, simply wipe your phone and follow these steps below, if you still have issues after this then you can RUU and re root again from there

Wipe data/Factory Reset
Wipe cache partition
Advance/Wipe Davlik cache

Go to Mount and Storage and
Partitions Menu/Format Boot
Partition Menu/Format System
Partition Menu/Format data
Partition Menu/Format Cache

Thanks. Actually I have everything working right now except email. I have all my sound/notification files thanks to you. I never got email to work in CM6 either, but it works great in stock form? I guess I'll just go back to getting my other email through gmail like I did before.

Thanks again for all your help. :D

Nope, you're sure not. :D I'm about to go from the 2/25 build to the 3/8 build. I like to let my ROM fully cook into my phone before I switch out for a new one. Plus, it's usually after a week or two when all the real gremlins come out to play and make me wanna clean house.

It was starting to get quiet over here. Could just be too much time on xda. Like sipping from a fire hose. They have averaged 100 posts/day since asop started his gb post. :-O

It's time to start using this thing and stop goofing around!

Yeah, xda is crazy! I gave up on trying to follow posts over there long ago. This forum runs at a much better speed for me. :)

NP, let us know what your issues with Gmail are we will help you, it should be working fine, when you have time let us know and we will trouble shoot

i used this sites info to root and install cyanogenmod 7 2.3.3 to my cdma hero and my girlfriends cdma hero
HTC Hero (CDMA): Full Update Guide - CyanogenMod Wiki

i also used this link for info:
Root HTC Hero CDMA On Android 1.5/2.1/2.2

my hero had 2.2 on it before i rooted, my gf's had 1.5
i highly reccomend grabbing and updating your phone to 2.2 before rooting, simply because you will have the ability to get the rom manager for free in the market.

mine work flawlessly on the 8th of march 2011, but today when i did my gf's phone i had to find a copy of the clockwordmod recovery image to use with the rom manager- the link to it on the cyanagenmod wiki is broken. i don't remember if it came in the rootme.zip file from the second link or not- i just grabbed it off my phones sdcard files that i backed up and put it the appropriate folder.

anyway i started a thread about this at cyanogenmod:
CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY SITUATION - CyanogenMod Forum

anyway- i thought i would share my experience rooting my two hero's here.
the new cyanogenmod7 is awesome- super fast. i haven't had any problems with it yet. it has a lot of settings you can adjust. about the thing that is a minor nag is the screen lags a bit when you rotate it on the home screen- i didn't experience any lag on it in applications though. you can get anrybirds in the market- and fully overclock your cpu- and it will still lag, btw.

also i wasn't able to send/receive messages after i went to 2.2 but now with the 2.3.3 cyanogenmod i am able to send/recieve picture messages again. yay!

Couple issues I'm having, sorry if I'm repeating anything thats not new. I'm a rookie/noooooob :D.

Google Nav causes a reboot after approx 10min of use.
Pandora set to high quality causes my hereo to freeze up and the music skips. Have to remove the battery.

I have a question about the contacts list. With my Sense GUI I was able to search contacts by group. I don't see anywhere that allows me to activate group under contact settings in GB.

Also when I send a message it goes to the messages and only shows recent sms. Can I search contacts to start a sms?

Thanks

John

I don't know if anybody else has experienced this problem, but Google Apps will not install for me after installing the 3/10 build of aospCMod.

I have an HTC Hero CDMA. I was previously running a build from sometime in February.

I used TB to backup my apps, booted into recovery mode and did a nandroid. Then I wiped the system & dalvik before installing the new rom. Then installed the latest gapps (it said it was successful) and rebooted. Everything works fine, other than none of the Google apps being installed.

After booting and seeing them not installed I even tried going back to recovery and just running the gapps install, but still nothing.

Any suggestions?

I usually wipe cache partition and Dalvik cache, and then go into Mounts and Storage (or Partitions) and format cache, just to be safe. I have never had an issue with the Android Market not working and I do not format system between nightly ROMs.

Give that a try and see if it helps. If not, let us know.

Dumb question but I will ask anyways, are you try to flash the latest Gapps from March 7

I have seen others recommend a full wipe with the 3/7 gapps. I am still on 3/7 rom with 1/20 gapps. Otherwise restore your Nandroid and just flash over the rom.

Not a dumb question, and yes I am.

I thought that's what I had done...

If it doesn't get sorted out I will try again when I get home this evening.

NP hear with the 3/7 Gapps and I did not do a full wipe, simply cache, davlik and format cache, but I agree when you start having issue then I would do a full wipe

This would be a full wipe

Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Go to Advanced>Wipe Dalvik cache (press the back button)

Go to Mounts and Storage>

Format Boot
Format System
Format Cache
Format Data

DO NOT FORMAT SD CARD

What min clock are you running? Cmsettings->performance. Don't go below 264 if you use Pandora.

Haha, I think it just comes with repetition, genuser. We type that list out probably a couple times a day, I would say. :D

It has been burned into our brains. It is well worth it though. ;)

I think I will save us some repetition and create a thread link in my thread of useful link and then we can C&P it ;)

I am using Phandroid app. It's great for reading, but keeps me pretty brief in my responses. :-) Maybe good for you all. :-O
