Update on the Official Phandroid Application

After using the phandroid app this morning, I noticed it was using 91MB of RAM. This is because I had 3 services running as I did recently (and only once) check the news section. I also have the PM service running which takes a lot of RAM.

I would like the option to disable services pertaining to these functions, as I dont really use them. Would this be possible please? I only really want to use the Forum from the app.

Same here. I don't really need the app pulling news to my phone all the time, since I never read that on my phone.

Also, I appreciate not all functionality of the forum can be brought to the app, but being able to pull a link From a thread to point someone to it would be handy, as would a report button

i am going to test this.... if it really is 91mb of internal memory... this app is history!

ram is part of memory in my phone; not my SDcard... which is a very small finite supply; with high demand.

RAM is random access memory. While like the "internal memory", it is flash, it is a separate flash unit, dedicated to RAM.

RAM is for performance. It holds files, apps and services "in memory" for quicker access. This is not encroaching on your "internal memory" that you install apps on.

There is the old adage "unbused RAM is useless RAM" but since I don't need to use the services I mentioned, they are not benefiting me and taking up RAM that could be used for other services.

Edit, oh yeah, the reason for todays visit

Anyone on a different time zone to default, are your personal message times correct?

Does anyone know if there are any plans to implement a report button?

I'm willing to pay for a report button! Using the phone's browser is just that painful!!

I'm willing to pay for:

  • pure black theme (white or grey text)
  • report functionality
  • retrieve links from threads
  • prevent PM and news services from running when not required

This is the most used app on my phone, but unfrotunately it does fall short for me in these areas.
