Who's passing on Thunderbolt and waiting for something else?

I think I am going to pass and go for the LG Revolution when it comes out.
It will for sure have Netflix Capability.

I just dont want to chance not having Netflix.... Again.
 
well right now i have an incredible and droid X. but my wife has an eris which has lived out its life so i want to get her the thunderbolt. i will be skipping it because i really want a windows 7 phone to replace my incredible (the droid x is from work). so i will be skipping the TB as i am waiting on verizon to get off their butt and get some good WP7 hardware with LTE. if it wasn't for that i would probably be getting the thunderbolt because i like HTC phones and sense and honestly i have yet to see anything that really requires dual cores on a phone yet so a 1yr contract will be more than fine for the TB and then see what the mobile landscape looks like next year.
 
question for those waiting for "something else" because the TB doesn't have the specs of the next best thing on the horizon...what will you do when the phone you've been waiting for has been trumped by the next "next best thing on the horizon?" will you continue to wait???
 
I bought the TB because I really don't see anything that great coming any time soon for Verizon. The only phone I would consider would be the Bionic, but with Motorola's douche-eness recently, I refuse to support them and their terrible Blur garbage.

Won't buy an LG phone and their upcoming one doesn't seem anything great.

Maybe the new Samsung one. However, it's Samsung.

Perfectly happy with my buy and I don't think a better phone will be available for awhile.

Ditto. Sure Dual Core, but will it really make a difference? I don't bother gaming on my phone so I only need webpages and apps to run fairly quick and the TB seems to satisfy that just fine.

Moto's policy on rooting/custom roms is also sorely disappointing and a kick in the groin since rooting is what made the Droid so freaking awesome. I'm a bit sad to part with my Droid 1 and all it's goodies but given the history of HTC devices being easier to root/hack, the future looks bright :)
 
I'm passing on the TB for sure. I currently have an Incredible and I just feel that this is a bigger one. Of course 4g and front facing camera, but I will get all of that on an upcoming phone.

And I'm so sick and tired of my Incredible's battery life, and it seems like this phone is no different. And I wouldn't be caught dead with the extended battery on the TB, it makes the phone look ridiculous.

That's just my opinion, but I am holding on to my coveted NE2 discount (from my other line) and am going to use it when it makes more sense.

If you are not an emulator user, no point IMO to wait on dual core.
 
I dont think any phone will be announced at CTIA that we don't already have some info on. In other words, don't expect surprises and certainly not by any marquee device. I could understand announcement of lower tier phones that we haven't heard of yet.

My point exactly. No need to perpetually wait if there's a phone out that meets your needs. That said I can understand how the TB may not be for some.

For those on the fence or already have it and are keeping it, the TB is an awesome phone that meets most every user's needs and is blazing fast.

Btw my TB has been off the charger for almost 13 hours and I have 46% battery left. Calls, emails, surfing, angry birds, and recorded a few vids. Granted I've been on WiFi all day at work. Still pretty good.

Referring to your other post as far as the question of "why wait?", I am eligible for an upgrade right now and am going to pass on TBolt. I really, really want to get the phone, but I'm just really curious as to how well a dual-core smartphone will function.

I'm very glad to see that TBolt battery life is getting better for the users that have "broken in" the battery. I'm going to wait it out though and see how much better the dual-core phones are actually going to turn out. I think the whole dual-core idea will either be a hit or miss situation. Either they nail it and the dual-core phone has amazing speed along with amazing battery life, or they miss it by the dual-core actually draining the phone unbelievably fast. For some reason I just have this feeling that when the "dual-core age" comes along in full swing, we will finally see the day when battery life is enhanced to last and coincide with the power-house phones that are coming out. We will just have to wait and see.

Thanks. That's much better than the Incredible. I still want to see what the Bionic is like (and if the bigger battery helps it last) but im also worried that the 4G will shift to tiered by the time the Bionic is out. Not sure what to do.

And do you know your approximate signal strength during that time?

well, you can get good idea of how the dual core bionic will perform in every day use by taking a peek on the atrix forums here or reading online reviews for the atrix. it's basically the same phone as the bionic, but with more memory. i checked it out and after taking the pros/cons of that phone into consideration decided to go ahead and get the TB. switching carriers for a different phone isn't an option for me and it was either the TB or the bionic.

i agree with that. i just don't think it's going to improve significantly with this first batch of dual core phones. maybe next year we'll see dual core really come of age. that's why i signed a one year deal with the TB.

a downside of a 1 year contract is if another phone doesn't come out next year that i want. then i might miss out on being grandfathered in on the unlimited 4g for an extra year because i didn't take the 2 year deal with the TB.

i don't. in a way signal strength doesn't really matter in my case since i'm connected to wifi probably 80% of my day. that means i'm not actively using 4g for data most of the time, thereby saving battery.

You misunderstood. Signal meaning cell signal. Wifi signal is independent.

thats funny. And I have to be honest, as much as people rip on Bieber he makes it hard to hate him. Seems like a humble kid with a good sense of humor. Seems he is enjoying his wealth and can even laugh at himself/people laughing at him.
