Next big phone after Desire?

The SE Xperia Arc's design has been extremely tempting, but I don't think it's technically much of an advancement from the Desire. The Atrix also sounds good but is kinda ugly and Motorola support outside the US has been pitiful at best.

Probably the HTC Pyramid for me I guess, if the rumoured specs hold true. My next phone must have a qHD display no matter what.

Yes, the HTC Pyramid seems to be the next big phone (at least from HTC): 1.2GHz dual-core Scorpion with Adreno 220 GPU and qHD display.
It remains to be seen how it performs against Tegra 2...

Remember, if you play games on your phone, most of the top end games are tegra2 only. This is swaying my decision anyway

That's caught my eye too and I hope it makes its way to the UK. It doesn't quite tick all the future proof boxes but it does look extremely lush!

I doubt EVO 3D coming to Europe (to be released in Sprint network in USA). Probably its non-3D sister (Pyramid) will instead come to us.

I didnt like the LG phone I experienced when I was trying to help someone with it. The browser was awful and very limited configuration. keyboard and screen so unresponsive too.

It was one of the cheap ones, but it didnt feel anywhere near as good as a Hero.

That was probably the heavily underpowered GT540 or Optimus One.
The Optimus 2X (dual-core) is probably a different story. ;)

I did get the feel that the recent HTC phones are just marking time. Probably reading too much into this, but there will be a new fruit based phone in a few months. They must be feeling the pressure from Android, so I wouldn't be surprised if they try to come up with something new. If it is just a refresh, Android is going to pull away. Could be that HTC thinks the same and is keeping the goodies in house until after the iPhone 5 is out.

Nope, HTV have already outed their next gen phones, in the pyramid and evo 3d!
Usually there are start of year leaks, then other stuff late in the year that wasn't included. For example, the Desire was known about (as the Bravo) back in Jan 2010, but the DHD was not part of that leak and was only rumoured some while after the Desire was shipping.

Having said that, I'd be cautious about speculating too much about unannounced/unleaked tech from any company - it's usually a recipe for disappointment, one way or another.

The Evo 3D does look good. I'm excited about that and the pyramid now. Good, as non of the others really got the juices flowing. Just would like one released in about 6 weeks. :)
