Root Kings vs Koni

So here's a question for ya!!

I am extremely fond of Kings Unleashed ROMs. I do like Konis as well, however, I find Kings to be more up my alley. My question is, what are the main differences between the two devs ROMs. Battery life, performance etc. I flash Konis ROMs for a lot of my friends, however, Kings is just better suited for me. I'd really like to hear the differences between the two Devs Roms.

This is a difficult question haha. Koni is ACS too right? His boot image is...? Anyhow, Koni is great at theming if you ask me. I love his themes and the work put into making them cohesive. They both feel like the same base to me so it just comes down to a matter of preference to me. I just prefer the look of Koni III. That being said I didnt like the look of Koni II and used kings till he dropped III.

Misfit does a lot of themes for Kings roms. Like the kings z port i just tried, i didnt like the color scheme at all, once misfit themes it i may try again. Again to me its just attention to detail on the look of the rom, that goes to Koni IMO. Kings Unleashed does feel a bit snappier to me for some reason though...Dont make me choose LOL I love them both!

YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE lol! They both are ACS I believe. I was just curious on what peoples take were, I guess kind of like a "poll". I have only used Koni II, I flashed III for my buddy, but not for myself. I didn't know if their was a difference in speed/battery/overall performance...that's all

The beauty of being rooted is that you DON'T have to choose. You can run one one day and the other the next. Remember, nandroid is your friend! :D

Yea, I know all that lol....BUT if you HAD to choose, which would you choose, and why...You're kind of shutting me down here Xtremedays lol...I also was wondering performance wise, what's the difference between the two, if any....battery life speed, etc...

On those things I have no opinion......I have gotten hooked on AOSP roms so I haven't tried these out as of yet ;)

+1

I'm hooked on AOSP as well.....The speed and snappiness is unmatched, shit, I'm running Kings GB w/ Savagedzen cfs kernel, have my cpu set at 245/729 and it still feels 10x faster than when I was on a sense based ROM, overclocked to 1152 if you can believe that! The best part is, EVERYTHING works for me on this ROM! :D

I'm a big fan of both Koni and King, they are both GREAT devs. Here's my take:

Koni - I'm currently running ESIII and always revert back it when I have issues trying a new ROM. I like how crisp and clean everything is, and overall it has great theming. It also runs quickly and is very stable. You can tell Koni pays quite a bit of attention to detail.

King - IMO seems to push the envelope a bit more in terms of animations and transitions but isn't quite as polished of a theme (still great and better than a lot out there - just not quite Koni), and I tend to find a bug or two. Again, nothing major, just not quiet as thorough as Koni's seems to be. Granted, he's pumping out multiple ROM's, so completely understandable. But he's always quick to fix/address any issue.

When you compare both King and Koni's ROM's to some others that are out there, they are both at the top of the list. And the support from both of them and theirs teams is outstanding.

Regarding battery life, I get about the same out of both.

I've tried to get King's GB to run, but I'm having all sorts of issues. I'll do a complete wipe of my SD card this weekend and give it another go.

You know, Ive been on this AOSP kick recently too.... The sense UI just seems so unnecessary. Ive been on CM7 for about hmmmmm, well i got the 3.17.11 nightly release(22 i think) anyways, i havent noticed really missing anything functionwise, nor ease-of-operationswise either. I get better battery life and a higher available memory # when i kill apps. Unique to the AOSP roms(or so it seems) are the lock and unlock animations. Im not sure of the specifics as why ive never seen these sense roms, but i havent.... That (albeit perhaps silly) is a huge demotivating factor to switch off CM7

+1 for reading my mind...or my previous post :). Glad it wasnt just me. I like Koni better for attention to detail and themes. But I still say Kings is a bit snappier. Battery life? I never know I always have a charger within 6 inches of me. A fact of life for owning an evo that i leave overclocked lol.

I am back on kings unleashed r3 now, misfit dropped a new blue theme for it! I thoroughly dig it.

Both of these guys do great work. Kings tends to be more flashy IMHO like something you would want to show off because it looks cool. Koni's stuff is a bit more understated but still great. It's really hard to choose between the two because their ROMs are always blazing fast, so really it just kind of depends what your tastes are.

For battery, I had a little better experience with Koni. My phone acted like it didn't like the more aggressive HAVS with Kings, but everyone experience differs for stuff like that.

At the end of the day, anybody interested in flashing should try out both of these guys, because their stuff is always excellent.

Ha I had the opposite. Not a terrible difference in battery life but koni didnt like more havs on mine, kings is fine with it. weird stuff...just goes to show you have to try things yourself.

I am waiting for Koni to release a GB rom so I can compare them that way :D

For now though, I am running Kings GB R2 and love it.

what is your hardware and PRI version, if you don't mind me asking?

i have koni's esIII on a net 4.3.4 no sbc more havs and it looks ok as of the moment. mine is hw 3 PRI 1.90, i'm just weighing if i should try less havs later once i have a firm reference average battery life on the more havs.

Depends on what you do with your phone my friend. If its usually sleepy then more havs, if you use it more than less havs. If your rom is pissy, give it what it wants :).

yes i mind... :D

Im on 004 and PRI 1.90

LOL thanks, i asked because from what i read the kernel's behavior varies on different phones and since i saw you have the same phone as i mine (base on your details) i wonder if it also differs on the same phone different versions thing.

but again thanks, all i need to really do now is test :)
