Reboot to hboot and see if you have s-off.(power off then hold volume down+power). If you have s-off, select recovery and see if loads a recovery screen or you get a triangle and exclamation point.

How is it xtreme that you are helping people with their problems without helping them at all now :p. Asked that guy one question and bam he's fixed. Asked the other guy like 5 and he apparently fixed because he never came back lol

I learned alot from Akazabam :D

LOL that would be believable but we all know akaza responds with more than just questions lol you'll get an entire dialogue about the inner workings of the evo and android if you ask akaza something :).

I didn't say I know what he knows, I just learned alot from him :p

ROOTED

Device Build Number: 3.70.651.1 CL294884 release keys
Android Version: 2.2
HBoot Version: 2.10.0001
unrevoked Version Used: 3.32
Recovery: WONT OPEN!
Custom ROM: No custom ROM
Custom Kernel: Stock Kernel

QUESTION:

I rooted my phone, then I used "Calkulin\'s_FORMAT_ALL.zip" and "Calkulin's_ClearTemp.zip" as recommended by one of the threads. Everything was fine until I ran those two files. Then it would only go into recovery. The phone wouldn't start up. so I re-installed the "PC36IMG_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.zip" as recommended to turn the S-ON through your thread. Now the phone will start up but I can't get into recovery to run the "unrevoked-forever-son.zip" to start from scratch.

Now when I hold the volume down button and press power it takes me to the HBOOT screen where it says:

SUPERSONIC EVT2-3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-2.10.0001
TOUCH PANEL-ATMEL224_16ab
RADIO-2.15.00.11.19
Oct 15 2010, 12:07:00

HBOOT

...etc...etc....

When I try to go to "recovery" to flash a new ROM or to run the S-ON tool, it just shows be the evo silhouette with the red triangle and exclamation point :(

Im trying to root my phone using unrevoked3 so I can install a custom ROM.

PLEASE HELP :( Im new to this whole thing and I hope I didn't royally F*ck it up!

Hello all, I rooted my phone around Christmas with this guide and all went well. I have had to ignore the installation of the latest software 3.70x build because it was not compatible with the root methodology that was done then. I am looking for the easiest method to update to the latest and greatest now that my Swype beta has expired and supposedly it's now integrated into the stock ROM.

Android Version: 2.2
Baseband Version 2.15.00.09.01
Kernel Version 2.6.32.15-g59b9e50 ktc-kernel@and18-2 #17
Build Number 3.30.651.3 CL272076 release-keys
Software Number 3.30.651.3
Browser Version: WebKit 3.1
PRI Version 1.77_003
PRL Version 60667

Basically, how (and can I) update this phone? Do I need to unroot and re-root it? Do I unroot it, download all the Sprint updates, then re-root it?

Thanks in advance,
Evan

What happened was when you flashed the Caulkin's files, you erased everything on your phone so there was no rom to boot up. When you flashed the PC36IMG file, you returned your phone to stock with s-off still. You will need to take that PC36IMG file off of your phone and replace it with either this one: PC36IMG_Clockwork_2.6.0.1.zip which is Clockwork mod 2.6.0.1 or this one: PC36IMG_RA_2.3.zip which is Amon RA 2.3(My preference). Rename it to exactly PC36IMG, reboot to hboot and when it asks to flash tell it yes. That should give you a recovery back so you can flash a custom rom and get your phone back to working.

It goes well up until the actual use of the unrevoked tool. The android phone does not show up unless it is in hboot USB, and will make the computer beep three times if not. PM me if you have a solution please! Any help appreciated.

What steps have you gotten through and what have you tried? We should be able to help just need some info.

Actually, i was about to edit that post. I just had to keep updating the drivers until it stuck long enoguh for unrevoked to recognize it. But now unrevoked is stuck on just saying "rebooting". It has rebooted twice, and is now just stuck there.

If it stays there for much longer, check and see if you have s-off in hboot and if you have a recovery flashed. Are you looking to flash a custom rom or stay with the stock one for the time being?

There's people here that more than me so someone correct me if im wrong. i believe you flash the tool that has the new radios and baseband included. most of the newr roms now require the new radios anyways. you can find it here http://www.mediafire.com/?9a1juwicm8nolpw once you download that put it on your sd card and flash it like you would a ROM

after you are done with the above link download this http://www.mediafire.com/?uae96r33s2592yd and flash from recovery(i think like you would a rom...wipe davlik/cache). this will take your PRI back down to 1.7. a lot of people were having trouble with 1.9's battery including myself.

please wait until someone confirms this is correct.

I closed unrevoked and yes, it says S-OFF. For now, I can't decide on a ROM to install, so I will stick with stock.

The easiest thing for you to do would be to flash Sprint Lover's from recovery. It contains the newer radios and is basically a stock rooted rom(slightly modification) the 3.70 software OTA. You can find a link here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/284413-roms-kernels-download-page.html

Can you reboot to recovery from hboot? Do you have the superuser app in your app drawer?

I can sortof boot to recovery, but there is no option for backup and it shows a phone with a red exclamation point triangle next to it. I do have superuser, but it complains about not having some su binary flashed.

It sounds like Unrevoked failed to flash your recovery. You will need to go here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/259446-clockwork-amon-ra-pc36img-files.html and download a recovery. Most of us recommend Amon RA 2.3 as it does a better job. The one that Unrevoked was supposed to flash is Clockwork Mod 2.6.0.1 if you want to use that one. Follow the directions there to flash the recovery. We can go from there after you get that done.

The recovery is flashed, do I now just follow the tutorial as normally (despite it using clockwork) or follow some different method?
