Root How to install ICARUS 1.1 by Isaacj87

Well I didnt know that. lol. um now i have a another problem. I use link2sd oppose to app2sd, when i did the reboot I got stuck at the android screen. and coy403, you were just stuck in a boot loop, happened to me the first two times of me installing it. at about 15 minutes into it, I pull battery, take out the sd card, put the battery back in, let it boot up (it should do a normal boot) when you see the android to begin your setup you can put the sd card back in and your good to go
 
So i finally got it to work but my 3g isnt anymore is there any way to fix that or am i restricted to just staying with wifi radius for the rest of this phones life? please and thank you:D

PS. my wifi is tuned off i noticed the 3g wont show up unless its off but it just wont do anythingi cant send MMS, open the web,open the market or anything

pss. if fixed it by playing around by going settings>wireless&networks>mobile networks>acsess point name> and clicking the dot next to that because it is auto set for metro not cricket

yea I dont think metro shows 3g regardless if it is or not or no matter what we do lol

press Mount on the notification that pops out in the phone,

Nothing popped up..


Too late.. Got icarus installed and watching the little green android now..
 
i installed last night and my browser stops unexpectedly everytime i try and start it. can someone help me please. actually its browsers and markets that wont work

First are you with cricket or metro? But there should be a 3G with up and down arrows in the status bar showing 3G is on, and you would know if your on wifi because you would have to do additional steps to set it up. Try to bring up the power widget to control what you need on.

My bluetooth, wifi, antenna, battery and clock are the only things on the top bar..

Wheres the power widget?

Ive had to airplane mode to get the clock set to the correct time...

EDIT: I can receive pic messages, but cant send..

Yes Im on metro..

You should put your carrier in your profile, this problem has been around since icarus was made.
 
Hello. I appear to be having some trouble upgrading to Icarus. I just rooted my phone in order to do this, and am rather new to the whole customizing of android thing. So, after rooting using z4root, I was googling how to install ClockworkMOD recovery v2.5.1.8. on my phone. I moved onto my SD card but my phone cannot open it. I downloaded Rom manager from the app store to see if that would allow me to open it, but it was still unable to and it gave me the newest 3.0.0.5, which cannot be used according to the instructions.

After doing this, I followed the step to reformat my SD card just incase I did something wrong. However, it seems that after doing that, when I go into my SD card when it is mounted to my laptop, I cannot see any other folder than the /Lost.dir folder. Where as before there were a bunch of different folders.

I should mention that I tried the above steps all the way up till the portion where I had to use the clockwork mod on the reboot (holding down volume up, power, and call). I also ran the two files I was told to run that are associated with windows. However, I could not proceed because after taking out the battery, it just took me to the regular reboot screen, so i just hit reboot phone so i could see what I did wrong. I assume it was because I didnt have ClockworkMOD recovery v2.5.1.8. (which i still dont know what to do with, its on my computer but dont know what the hell it is).

someone help. I would Like icarus, and would appreciate the help in getting back the ability to see the other folders on my sd card. TY!!!

mms fix is out for CM6 and CM7 (Fix applied to CM7 available) and is alot easier to install first go IMO.
 
would u mind helping me out regarding the whole not being able to see the root folder issue, as well as pointing me to the CM7 thing u mentioned?

not sure what the root issue is. My link to the CM7 ROM with mss fix applied is here: http://androidforums.com/2572199-post549.html and on the first post in that thread is all the other info you will need along with the link for gapps (google apps aka market, gmail etc).

Do you still have CWM 3 installed from the market? The rom manager app wont show the correct version of CWM recovery, it seems to be stuck on 3.0.0.5.

Do you have a card reader?

Hey GOD..lol, never thought I'd talk to GOD directly..

I have NEVER put any of the CM versions on my phone as MMS has been a deal breaker (get alot of long texts, and unless other person knows to break them up to small SMS's your screwed), so this is GREAT NEWS.

Now my question: I currently am running Icarus w/ a2sd (have CWR 2.5.1.8 on). So, I'll list to make it easier to respond:
1. I just went thru Hell to get a2sd working right for me again(had a crash), will that stay the same and work if I flash CM7

2. I got your link and downloaded CM7, I think I read I can flash it with the version of CW I have, I don't need to d/l 3.0, correct? (EDIT: SORRY, I just read, I do need to update CWR to flash the zip), is it best to do that from ROM MANAGER?

3. You mentioned I would still need GAPPS. I recall having that on my PC, when I was thinking about it before, but to be honest, I don't know what it is, and where I can find a link if you would be so kind?

4. I assume the GAPPS is something I flash 1st THEN go ahead, put CM7 on my card and flash it w/ CW

You can try flashing with CWM 2.5.1.8 but when I tried to restore with it, it aborted. And I' sure a2sd will work or a similar app will work on CM7 but your current setup prolly wont as you'll have a whole OS.

Heres isaacs OP with the details of howto and to Gapps for CM7 as they are diff than for CM6.
