Root condemned cm7

After flashing the Test file things have been much much smoother. The lag that I previously reported in LauncherPro when unlocking the phone is completely gone. Screens and docks scroll right away and the app drawer opens and closes without delay. I still have had black screen issues right after a restart, but nothing more than that. I haven't had a call come in yet to see if the phone is waking any sooner, but everything else seems to be running much smoother. Great work, CS. I'm excited for an update, whenever that might be available.

Ok, the way that test went, I saw who was calling on my phone when the caller (me on another phone) heard the third ring.

I restore xtrSENSE and tried the same test. Third ring.

I recently upgraded to cm7 and I am really loving it. But over the past couple of days it has slowed down a lot. I checked the settings posted earlier in the forum and tried some of them out and didnt see much of a difference. What I'm most concerned about is the lag when scrolling through screens and typing. I had the same problems with GSB.
Perhaps I got used to the speed of xtr sense. But I love this ROM and I really want it to be as snappy as possible.

Are you using the default GB keyboard? I hate that thing. I've been using a third party keyboard and the performance is just fine.

If things seem laggy with the smartass governor (if that is what you are using), you can try switching to ondemand. Or vice versa. You can also try bumping the minimum CPU to 480.
 
Yeah I'm using the stock keyboard. I've used Swype in the past.. I'll go back to that and see if it works better.

I'm trying out 748/480 right now and have been going back and forth with smartass and ondemand.

I use the stock keyboard myself.. I personally never cared for swype lol. I'm thinking about experimenting with some froyo keyboards and I've also found the HTC IME keyboard to be a decent alternative. There is one in my xda OP that you can flash that works. It messes me up though because it's backwards from the stock one :rolleyes:... I also have had the best experience with my cpu set at 480 min/710 max using OnDemand governor as Doogald suggested. Also JIT off makes a very nice difference as well. I believe in V5 it was defaulted JIT on so I'd check into that as well. Next update it will be defaulted to off from here out.
 
Occasionally I have started to get a little lag. When waking up and when I click on contacts. Actually I think it's a black screen as KPG has metioned. One thing I notice like when I wake it up and move the slider to unlock it, it like freezes for a couple seconds like it's trying to figure out it's next move.
 
I definitely noticed a difference with ondemand governor and jit off. I guess im wondering if my eris can run cm7 roms as well and as snappy as it runs xtrsense

Yes... I did :D .... Too bad it's a paid app... would be a cool boot ani for the Rom :p lol. I'm working on the update now. Based on the amount of downloads of the stock volume zip... I've decided to lead the volume at stock level and post a zip to increase the volume for those that want it. I'll probably be flashing it soon and I want to give gps a quick drive for a test to make sure it seems ok before I post it though. I've heard there are some issues with it on 7.1. I'll also be putting the build prop changes from the test in the update as well since they seem to be going well :)
 
Well... GPS is working on V6... But I gotta see if I can figure out why wifi isn't working :mad: Once I get that figured out I can post it.. I don't want to release it with no wifi though. I think it's CM but I'm gonna try some things...

Once you get her working will we need to do a fresh install or just wipe delvik and flash over?

So far it looks like a dalvik wipe is fine. That's all I've done and the only issue so far is wifi. I'm gonna try a few things and if they don't work I'll see if a full wipe fixes it. I've seen that wifi seems to be an issue for a lot though...:(

EDIT: Think I found another problem...:mad:
 
No worries, CS. It's better to have the best product you can out there than to put out an update just to put out an update.

I can't put it out if I know there's issues.. Wouldn't be right lol. Wifi isn't working and when you plug into the computer and select to connect to pc in the pull down it just closes out to the homescreen... I will say this though..... It's fast. Lol. Just rebooted for my last try but I'm not getting my hopes too high on it. I'm waiting for it to sync now since I messed up and wiped data when I wasn't paying attention :eek::rolleyes: lol. So far though apps are restoring pretty fast :). Once I get it straightened out though I'll restore my backup of V5 to make sure a dalvik wipe will be ok too lol
 
yeah dont sweat it... were not expecting you to produce nightlies,lol. i was reminded how much i like it after leaving the stock one on a couple days :D

i agree the fingerprint slider is pretty nifty. i do like the lil skulls on the rotarty lock on the GRE tho :cool:
 
Sorry I wasn't around much yesterday.. Was my anniversary. I'll be testing some more things today with the update and if everything seems good I'll be posting it later... Keep our fingers crossed... Lol

BTW... Sorry but it looks like it's going to be a full wipe update as well :(
