2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter that works?

The pictures posted by joetromundo look EXACTLY like the thing that I bought from Radio Shack (see my earlier post in this very thread).

As I said ... it works!

It is kinda big as hell though isn't it? LOL

P.S.
I ripped that thing off of the top that is made to cover up the plugs. It was annoying LOL
I wonder how many others have done the same?

I got one at Radio Shack. Man it's big.....and it. does. not. work.

It only has two bands (as in the pics), the oem headset has three........
Still waiting for my headset with a 2,5 jack.

I use the one I got from my old Helio Ocean and it works perfect. Honestly ANY 2.5 to 3.5 should work, but if you buy one that doesn't, chances are it's faulty.

Not trying to disappoint you ickster but is not worth trying working so hard on the issue! You going to figure out that our phone sound volume suck. Is very low!

hey ickster if the headphone you got online for some reason is not going to work I can give to you the adapter; if you around the DFW area. I really don't want that monster ....lol

Make sure the male end of the adapter fits into the recessed area where the jack is. I think the problem most people are having is they are not plugged in all the way.

I received the 2.5 headset the other day. It also did not work.

I have arranged a return of my Ascend.

I am having the same problem. I went to Radio shack and bought the adapter. I was excited about listening to my Pandora Station while I ride, since I have not gotten around to how to put music on my phone. Well I plugged the adapter in. I could only hear sound in one side of my car and I had to crank the volume all the way up on the phone and the car.

Did anyone come up with a solution?

The silence is deafening on this one. I think it's just because most are satisfied with the headset that comes with the Ascend. I'm thinking we'll start getting more input and peoples work arounds once the Ascend is a little older. The headsets will start to break and get lost. Then people will begin to realize how screwed they are on this. And maybe then we'll figure out the options.

I have yet to make anything work in stereo besides the oem headset.
I'm moving on to the Indulge because of this issue and the no 3g issue. Music is a big reason I moved to a Smarty phone.
But I'm giving my Ascend to my daughter.
So if anyone figures out what works please post here

I tried several adapters with several headsets and none worked for me. A rep at a corporate Cricket store told me the Ascend headset and headset jack are proprietary and none of the adapters would work. I got a Samsung stereo bluetooth headset from a Wireless Toyz store for less than the cost of an adapter and a decent quality wired headset, and I couldn't be happier with it. The Ascend has a pretty low volume output though. I have heard there is a way to boost this on rooted phones but I don't really know anything about it.

First day and just got them, decided to test youtube out but all it would do was crackle and sound like i was ****ing up the phone (or buds) even more.

Is it easy to find 2.5 mm earbuds, like good quality ones so I dont get pissy about getting a defective one?

First day, take the phone back. Sounds like the jack is bad.

The only headphones that work with it are the stock heaphones that came with the phone. Huawei has a custom headphone jack on the ascend. I've tested it with all my old headphones and they all only play out of the right speaker.I reccomend investing in bluetooth stereo headphones. Rocketfish makes a pretty good pair for about 50-60 dollars.

I got an adapter for my G/f's ascend from radio shack and gave her my old JVC Marshmallows and they play just fine.. I decided to comment on this thread cause I can confirm that an adapter work unless my g/f's ascend has special powers lol

I ordered two adapters from ebay, and used my regular 3.5 head phones, and they worked fine, with one of them, and only played in one ear with the other. I think it depends on the adapter.

Yeah, "some" adapters work, but not all. Can you provide the brand/model name for the adapter you bought at Radio Shack so others would know which ones to get?

I don't have the package anymore but it was Radio Shack branded.

Thanks guys. I returned it and got a new one that returns perfectly. See, because of things like this im glad i spent the extra 20 bucks for an extended 2 year warranty.
