Droid X 2.3 update

Just don't hold your breath or you will pass out. The rumor probably isn't complete junk but VZW is known for deciding to wait a few more days or for releasing to about 5 people and then pulling the upgrade. We have to be really close though.

It comes when it comes. Sounds like Verizon signed off on it, so probably not too long. But just try not to even think about it, and be surprised when it shows up. Honestly, I'm happy with my unrooted DX on Froyo, so if GB never comes, I'm fine with that.

GB is nice, but the latest builds are also very buggy. They never fixed the issue of the camera resolution settings don't stick if you change it. Worse many people have frequent/random droppings of the wifi connection.

i have no issues with any of the BG builds. they have been less buggy than any of the froyo ROMs i used. can't wait for the official OTA, but i am just going to wait for FAB to update apex to the latest OTA.

OMG That's TERRIBLE!!!!!!

The camera bug is for everyone, you have it. Maybe you like to leave your camera on widescreen, then you wouldn't notice. Such a simple bug to fix and replicate, yet it hasn't been fixed in the leaks. Hope final fixes it.

The wifi issue is there for many people, but doesn't look like it's everyone. Some people complain about 3g drops too.

Lots of existing threads regarding the new update date speculation but hope to see it soon

..so if GB never comes, I'm fine with that.

You is crazy

Although I highly doubt it, anyone know if they fixed the MotoBlur Lock Screen unlocking lag?

The fix for lock screen lag: No Lock ;)

Well yes...but it's pretty effin ridiculous they can't fix something so simple. Sure, I could use widgetlocker or not use a lock at all, but I'd like to keep my pattern lock while on stock OS

+1 I had WidgetLocker and had so much on the lock screen that I rarely unlocked it. Then I found No Lock and just bypass the lock screen (which should be an option in the OS). I just wish that the hard keys didn't wake the phone.

I really hope that doesn't start again. I had that issue until the latest update. It made wifi completely unusable.

i agree that things like Lag when you unlock the screen does suck.

However it would not be a priority to fix or a "show stopper" if you will from the eyes of the manufacturer. So some of these small issues we'll just have to live with.

you're only fine with it because you have not tried out the leaked GB builds yet...the GB builds make Froyo look downright awful in comparison...

i wouldn't call them "very buggy" at all...quite the opposite...considering they are unofficial builds that were never intended to be installed on consumer devices, i think they perform absolutely stunning...

the WiFi connection issues are NOTHING compared to what it was like on the X when it first came out...Eclair and even Froyo on the X were atrocious when it came to WiFi connections...i can't remember which update finally fixed it for me...but it was BAD...

also, i have personally had ZERO issues with dropping WiFi

my phone running GingerBlur .591 has absolutely minimal occasional lag on the lock screen...a VAST improvement over Froyo...when it does happen its barely noticeable...

I'm sure it does. But I'm happy with my phone now, and if I never get GB, I'll still be happy with it. Sounds like I'll be even happier with GB, but you can't miss what you've never had!

At least it's looking like it might come OTA on a day off for me. With Froyo, I got out on break and grabbed my phone from my locker, and it was halfway done downloading the update, and had chewed a big hole in my battery because of the weak signal inside a steel locker. Luckily it downloaded and installed with enough battery left to get through the day, and didn't give me any issues, but I'll be much happier if I can be at home by a charge cable and with the intrawebnetz available just in case.

While I haven't been with VZW during an OTA, my understanding is that you should have the ability to accept the update, or decline and do the update at a later time. But you indicate differently for the Froyo update, so I dunno for sure.....Can anyone confirm?

that's correct. you can choose when to update it

I don't see anything on GB worth updating for. I'm still on the 2.3.9 leak (Froyo 2.2.0) and it runs pretty well. The only lag I get is trying to open a contact in the address book. That can take 30s to a min. Might have something to do with having 2000 contacts across three exchange, one google and a FB account though.

Are there any apps you can run only on GB? Netflix might be the only thing like that coming up.

You all see this from P3?

Good evening: This just in - DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE THE 4.5.596 update if you want to stay rooted. Dont do it.

Gingerbreak 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 are not working. Also rules have changed - YOU WILL NEED TO BE ON FROYO (2.3.340) to get the update.

doesn't surprise me. I mean we've all been beta testing Moto's new root blocking leaks now for a month or so lol. They've made it harder each time.

Actually, on Froyo, the update would pop up and ask if you wanted it, but it had a timer on it, and if you didn't decline it during that time, it would start downloading automatically. I know when I put my DX into my locker at the end of my first break, it was on Eclair, and when I came out for my second break, it was over halfway done downloading Froyo. After it downloaded, it asked if I wanted to install it and had the timer again. I just accepted it and figured I would finish it up.
