Any chance if you ever get the audio file for it you could post it in a flashable zip format combined with this animation zip for us technically enept. :o

Thanks

Charles

you use that many different roms and call yourself technically inept? yowza!! i think youve got a better grasp on this than you give yourself credit for lol anyways, I dont think that a flashable zip would make the process any easier, that is provided its even possible. Ive never seen a flashable bootanimation. But the process is quite easy but i can see how some might overthink it. 1: get root exlorer 2: (im gonna use cm7 for this example, but the location of the stock bootanim varies a tad, but not too much) go to sys/media and theres your stock bootanim... change the name to anything you want, i.e. stupidassstockbootanimation.zip lol and then go to the folder that you put the new bootanim in, copy it, go back to the sys/media folder, paste, roboot, enjoy (or dont enjoy, but itll be changed wether or not you enjoy it :P) i of course omitted the d/l the animation file, place on sd card etc etc (seemed kinda like "duh" parts of the process.... gawd im rambling.... )

Of course its possible :). I dont think we have seen any because doing it yourself in RE is probably easier than making the zip in the first place :). Making an update script and zipping it up with everything so you can go to recovery and flash it...easier just to have you copy and paste...

In all reality i usually just pull simple things out of the flash files and push them myself seems easier than booting to recovery...

Also i have an app i grabbed from a rom i flashed recently called boot animation utility. Im not sure what all it does but i have used it to easily rip boot animations out of roms i flash, with one click. Then i can set any of the ones ive ripped with one click also. Its probably in the market.

Oh also on sense roms the boot animation is in system/customize/resource

the app locates your boot animation wherever it is and pulls it to a boot animation folder on your sd card that it creates, then it will import from there on any rom you flash on to...makes life easy if you are a flashaholic but want a boot ani to follow you.

I have the mp3 did u want it... don't know about putting a boot animation in a flashable zip though... not sure that is possible.

a flashable zip is basically just 2-3 things (depending on edify or amend) There is the meta-inf which contains certs and the update script (in edify, binary and updater are required you can change one to the other easily actually) and there is the item you are flashing (writing to the internal memory, ROM). Basically in a flashable zip you have the script which tells the recovery what to do, in most cases mount system and delete what is there and copy whats in your PACKAGE (your zip file) and you have the package or zip file you are placing.

Its just doing what you do when you push...recovery is just something dedicated to do that for you. For single files i push them myself its easier, for multiples i flash them. Your recovery is just basically doing simple manipulations of your internal memory, mnt, cp, mv etc.

Go ahead, open up a flashable zip and look in the meta-inf/com/google/android folder. If you see a binary file in there and an updateR script its edify, if you just see an updatE script its amend. Now view the update/r as text and you can see exactly what its telling recovery to do...

Do you know where the boot animations are on CM 7

yeah, i tried to upload the gif for my avatar and you saw the result, the weird thing is that when i go to my public profile, the gif shows animated, so i just grabbed a clear frame of the gif, resized it, and changed it from gif to jpg.... beastin, the req's on the site say that it has to be under 92k and also under 80x80 pixels.... matts is obviously bigger than that, but mine was resized manually. I think thats there just to avoid people from upping a 38 megapixel image or something redic like that lol
