Root Has Wireless Tether been Changed... again?

Well interesting news.... I bought a Wii.
Yeah umm thats not the interesting part. So I have heard a million times in a million places that Wireless thether and Barnacle and other tethereing apps would not work with the Wii. Of course I still had to try. And guess what Wireless Tether worked like a champ first try right out of the box.

It almost seemed like it wasnt an ad hoc connection but an actual Mac address with an IP address to boot. So the hooked up and Wii internet here we go.

Just another thanks to GetItNowMarketing for that genius little version of the app. Can we say AWESOMENESS!!!

Just curious though is there maybe a way to make wired tether work with the wii somehow.

Not that it matters I was just curious... Wired tether seems to be a little more reliable.

Both of those are the best apps ever created. :D
 
With the way the USB drives in the Wii are set up, I'm not sure it's possible to do wired tether. I'm pretty sure that the Wii's internet is set up to go through wifi, or simply through the adapter that they have to allow an ethernet cable.

I could be wrong, though.
 
The reason it "almost seemed like it wasnt an ad hoc connection" is because it's not an ad hoc. Wireless Tether on Velocity includes a custom kernel cooked up by GetItKnow that makes it infrastructure, not ad hoc.

I can see why using that argument, except I still have my systems going back to NES so I have no need for hacked emulators. Course I hardly have time for modern gaming with the kids raising hell all the time and the wife needing (demanding?) attention too.

So does that mean when /if I get A thunder bolt Wireless tether will not work the same way for the wii?

It sends out an infrastructure signal. I have connected my thunderbolt to my Wii numerous times and surfed successfully. I just wish I was in a 4G area so it would be even faster. Still works pretty good streaming Netflix and downloading games.

EXACTLY!!! We have a Wii that will now play the over 300 games off the external HD. This is why the Wii is awesome! But so are the modded 360's that we do! :)
 
Ok Im new to tethering I have one of tje new blue wiis and have tried almost every tether app I could find but when it runs the connection test it says theres an error and will not work properly. Any ideas? Feel free to emaile with suggestions craigb45212 @ gmail . Com
