As it says on the wiki, the CPU update kernel for 748 needs to be updated and not to flash it with the 0521 release. So, we need to wait for it to be updated and released.

Isaac had a screenshot on his Twitter of the CPU setting at 810 MHz !!!
I don't know if that will be possible with the new Kernel or not. Maybe just updated for 748 for the new release.

Same goes for the new GApps, he said a new one will be there shortly also.

Good luck...Jeff

the 810Mhz wasnt stable ;)

the 810Mhz wasnt stable ;)

Thanks GOD....LOL (I just love saying that)....Hmmm.

Maybe you can answer what I've been trying to find out. I was running the CM7 build and flashed the kernel to go back to 748 MHz. THEN I put the new one on, looked like a lot of fixes (05212011).

In the write-up it says "Do not flash that kernel, it needs updated first", so right now I am at 710.

Also, in the write up it says there is a new release of GApps, much better....BUT for now the old one is up.

NOW: I totally know these guys work on their own time, and I would never ask, "When is this coming".

My only question is, I was told Isaac is finished supporting, and I'm not asking when, but I'm wondering IF the Kernel flash and GApps are in the pipeline to be posted??, As I really can't tell much difference, BUT, if there is a flash to jump me back up I want to use it, and can never beat a nice stable GApps.....

Any idea on that?

Thanks....Jeff

Well the specific gapps isaac mentioned was more or less a certain version of gmaps that worked best with CM7-Ascend. Which we all know GMaps can be quite demanding of resources which the ascend has lil of to begin with.

As of Isaacs last postings, I am the officail maintainer of CM7 until he feels like picking it back up again or I hand it off to someone else.

As my knowledge of Android and CM7 is lacking anything near what isaac has n learned atm, new builds will be limited to aesthetics, and minor fixes n additions.

i want ot keep the same AOSP feel isaac tried to stay with, so until I learn more, builds will be limited to as I learn. The Metro 2.2 update with isaac steering me in the right direction was a big eye opener, but its just a cooked rom as compared to Cm6/7 which are built from src. Basically PlayfulMod is a Icarus2 with 2.2 as a base. AS I never installed icarus, I dont know what all was done to it, tho I been told its scarey close to icarus on a 2.2 level lol.

For as kernel patches, I may be able to post a kernel patch to go with the last build src I have as I have a s-oc'd kernel for it. but still all isaac's work/research/time, not mine. Once I learn the hardware etc like isaac dose I can compile stuff myself as long as I have src code for it.

So basically if a kernel patch isnt listed for a specific build, then dont try it with another build unless u have a backup to restore or wanna risk starting over.

Isnt this fun stuff? lol

Ah....Playful...I didn't realize you grabbed the reins...good for you and GOOD LUCK...Yea, I am VERY happy with this build and wouldn't care a bit if a new one didn't show for a long time.

My only issue (again not asking or pressuring "WHEN", ONLY trying to understand the pipline). I put the latest build on, but as you know cannont flash the Kernel to 748 (which I guess was only made since some phones wouldn't support it, I guess those people could have just kept it at 710, but I guess he knew they would do it anyway, hence the kernel)

SO ALL that I'm looking for is an update to that that kernel flash, to put the overclock back where it was with the last build.

Otherwise, it becomes a question: What is better:
1. The new build running at peak 710
OR
2. The older one peak at 748

I don't know the answer, I'm guessing that the newest build probably outweighs the extra 38MHz, but, I just hope you understand my point.

I really really don't want to be a PIA about it, only bringing it up, as I've given it alot of thought, and keep wondering what is going on?

That said, I know know you are "The Man".....and I do look forward to the future. I hopefully look forward to that Kernel flash, as far as the GApps, point well taken.

Thank you for taking the time to listen, and I wish you the very best of luck and hope it works out for you.

All my best. Jeff

PS: Will the Wiki still be the best place to find the most updated info (i.e. IF that kernel were done, I would see it there, ONLY LOOKING FOR A WAY TO NOT BOTHER ANYONE, that's all....LOL..)

Have a Nice remainder of the weekend and a nice week to come.
Jeff.
PS: I'm off to get my GUT BUILDING McGriddle...LOL....all my best

So i was curious if for the ascend, there was a way to move the apps to the SD card and still utilize them ?

yes.

if you use the following ROMs, Icarus1.1, CM6, CM7 and DarkTremor's A2SD feature.

look in the guide in my signature for details on all three roms.

I was wondering if the steps to get apps onto my sd card are the same as in the ultimate customization guide, for icarus. Are the steps the same for icarus and cm6, or are there specific steps for CM6? Once creating a SD card partition, will my apps automatically be moved there, and willl new apps install there from now on? Thanks for your responses

okay so in that thread ultimate customization guide go all the way to cm7 section and go to the bottom of the page, you will see instructions for A2SD for cm6 and cm7, but it doesnt really say it like,
COME HERE ITS THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CM6 AND CM7 A2SD!!!!
its not bold or anything, follow those steps. and when you do partition your SD you have to do commands in Terminal Emulator to move all the things over.
and yes when you install a new app it goes to the SD EXT.

So, when I flash a2ds, all my apps will be moved. And then all future apps will also be moved. So I really don't need to add my apps before I flash it, right? I can just flash the CM7 and gapps, boot and maybe let it settle a bit, flash the a2sd, and then go thru and add my apps?

a2sd is already installed tho ;)

this method works on cm6 also, just flash dta2sd and open TE and type suthan type a2sd cachesd to move the dalvik.

Ok, so I formatted the phone and card, partitioned the card, flashed the new CM7 and gapps, rebooted. How do I move the apps now?

if you partition your sdcard and use swap 32, your apps and dalvik is already moved once your phone booted up for the first time, just open TE and type su, than type a2sd check and hit enter, look and see if it says apps run from sd card and also look for dalvik run from sd card.

Oooooooh. So the only reason my apps weren't running from sd before is that I wasn't partitioned. That's the trigger that moves everything to the card.

yup, after you partition the card, the magic happens, but best thing to do is partition it before installing the rom, but you can always do it afterwards, but install cache cleaner from market and open it up once you install it and look how much free space you have, you can also use titu to view your space, and also moves apps to sd also. ;)
