Root [Kernel][AOSP] Tiamat 4.1.0 | 2.6.38.8 |

are these things coming out bi-monthly now?? man, this dev team must be bored, overworked, or these things must be more similar than different LoL

true but i get paranoid so it never hurts to do one. i can juts delete one of my previous nandroids. i only keep three on my card. gonna have to try the new tiamat kernel at some point.
 
i hadnt checked in a lil bit, so i thought id let peeps know, SINCE YOU DIDNT LoL jk oh, and to the bigger card comment i say........ (how do you spell the sound you make when ou stick your tongue out and pass air around it causing it to jump arount and sometimes also make some spit fly?) :P i gots me a 16 gig'er

No worries, I've been having fun flashing these sense roms lately so I'm not really up on AOSP kernels. When I did flash Vaelek's AOSP rom, I downloaded kernel manager and I saw the latest Tiamat kernel was 4.0.5 so I gave it a try and had no issues with it

for those of you on aosp roms and have not tried tiamat kernels, i highly suggest that you at least try it. it is one of the few kernels that i know that for most people this is one kernel that has given them the best battery life. of course like any kernel it is always YRMV, but try it out at least.

This series has a somewhat complecated history. It is originally cloned from the android-msm-2.6.38-wip experimental repository of an AOSP developer. From there, it has merged up linux upgades to 2.6.38. Cayniarb started the work to port the kernel to the Evo, but toastcfh’s work deserves the credit for making the kernel stable on the Evo. Once booting on the Evo, cayniarb added support for the Incredible using commits from cuviper and slayher. For the initial release, this kernel supported only the Evo and Incredible and the Nexus One was added with 4.0.1. Support for the HTC Desire (GSM and CDMA) was added with 4.0.3.

Awesome, seems like I've been on 4.0.6 for ages. Anyone have comparisons from the last version to the new one? Speed increases? More smooth than butter?
 
I'm on CM7.1 with tiamat 4.0.7 and my battery has been dropping really fast..ill give it a little more time I guess...Anyone else having issues?
 
Ok I flashed this last night. I'm running smartass v2 and I'm more impressed with battery on this kernel than 4.0.7. I've listened to quite a bit of music and had over an hour of phone calls and after 12 hours off the charger I'm at 40%. Running deck's most recent beta and I'm undervolted by 25 mv. Down to 38% after typing this but I'm still happy. LOL.
 
Let me know what you think. I feel that the 2nd 50% burned faster than the 1st 50%. But obviously the kernel has not had time to settle yet.
 
I seemed to be getting some drain on this kernel today. Not really sure why, because I barely even used my phone today. Back to Tiamat 3.3.7. I wish I could settle on Tiamat 3.3.7 or SavagedZen 2.2.1 CFS. Both are rock solid and seem pretty even on battery life for me. I used to just gauge my battery life based on time off charger, but I've come to find that about 2 hours of screen time, 30 minutes of phone calls and approximately 2 hours of music (either streaming or on my sd card) will deplete my battery. I always underclock to 768MHz as my max on AOSP. Undervolting by 25 MV.
 
Well I switched back to 4.0.8 again yesterday since I feel like I didn't give it a fair shake. Still on the SmartassV2 governor. Hopefully my flashing ADD will calm down enough to give me until Saturday to fully test the V2 governor and then maybe try regular smartass for a few days to see if I can tell any difference.

And seriously....I'm the only one trying this out? Post some more impressions! I guess all the new Sense stuff is keeping people off AOSP. I'm a total AOSP fanboy and refuse to look back.

I am currently using this Kernal and CM7 and i noticed that ur Android System bar is low compair to mines that says 49%....Am i doing something wrong?

if your running that kernel, you may have to give a day or two to settle in going through a couple charge cycles before you notice any improvement....plus, kernels act differently on everyone's phones, so it may not work that well for you at all...
