Root [BETA]Cyanogen!! Landed!!! :) Go get it![Updated 7/12/2011]

Actually, available memory is VERY relevant.

It's true that available memory is wasted memory, so in that respect, you shouldn't be constantly targeting low memory usage. However, more memory available once the system boots, means more memory available for your apps to run. So when your system runs really lean like this, it's great because more apps can remain resident in memory, improving performance and reducing the number of apps that get killed due to resource constraints.

Every time an app gets killed, it means the next time you want to use it, it has to restart from scratch. If you can keep more sleeping apps in memory, you use less CPU time, improve your battery life, and have a more responsive phone.

So I have been keeping an eye on the battery today, other forms as well are pointing to an issue with the cell stand-by, with is 50% of my usage after 2:41 of normal usage for me. However I am still at 85% of my battery so this is about the same as before. Under normal use while at work I would lose about 5% an hour.

One question if anyone knows the fix, before when I would dock my phone in my car the car dock app would keep the screen on all the time. Now it will time out after a little bit. I looked at the car dock settings and could not find anything to make this stay on, anyone have any idea on how I can fix this?

Also for Steven and all of the rest who like the Gingerblur theming Motorola did there is a theme on CM7 called GingerBlur that looks just like the actual theme. I for one liked the colors so I am very happy right now. Biggest fix I am looking for is GPS right now. Still very happy.

Is anyone having an issue with the Google Music widget once you apply a theme? It completely messes up the look of the widget with any theme.

Which theme? Some of those themes will "theme" a lot of diff apps. You think it themed the music widget? Does it happen with diff themes?

It changes to something different with each theme and is not actually being themed. Sometimes the whole widget will be a solid color or just the outline is changed with a clear background. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and widget but it does not help.

That's Synergy. Great theme. I have noticed a couple widgets doing that. I think its themed widgets.

You can tell that the Google Music widget isn't actually themed by the size of the widget, it is normally the same size as the pandora widget but after applying a theme it's bigger, square corners and just doesn't look right.

Here's what happens with the GingerBlur theme:

In cyanogen settings, has anyone been able to get the TV animations to work for both screen ON and OFF?

I posted a link earlier in this thread for a fix fire the crt animation. After you flash the fix, you can turn it on and off under cyanogen settings. For screen on and off.

@Air, idk then. I haven't tried many widgets. I know the couple I've tried were themed like the first google music one you showed but their shapes were still right. Does it do with stock cyan also?

In the stock "theme" it looks like it should.

Must be a bug when applying themes. I just tried the Music widget included in cyanogen on the synergy theme and it looks like a normal themed widget.

oh yeah, are you rebooting between changing themes? its not required, but you need to do it to make sure everything is working right.

Yes I have, I've even tried uninstalling Google Music before applying the theme and then rebooting and reinstalling the app and it still is messes up the widget.

News: Camera illusion is working on mine, and saves to the SD card. Decent quality pics.

I tried this and looked at Videocam illusion made by them as well and it will work as a camcorder as well, saved and playback as well. Now this is not HD, but until we get this fix this should work very nicely.

Didn't know that. I figured much less bloat was running in the backround.

My battery life isn't impressive but I'm at 39% cell standby. Charger at home, work, and in my car though so I will continue to play w/ CM7.

I can't say I understand what cell standby is. I assumed its like standby on a computer, where its in low power mode. But that doesn't make sense if it's murdering battery life.

However, I'm at three hours unplugged right now, 30% standby, and only 10 percent gone. So I'd say whatever it is, its working for my phone :D

I'm not sure either but when you click on it, it says 'Battery used by cell radio'. I just remember that on .596 display used most of my battery. *shrug*.

Cell Standby is all of the battery that the cell radio uses when it's not actually in a call or transmitting data. It's not really "low power" mode. The cell radio is actively doing a lot of things, all the time. It's constantly measuring and re-measuring signal strength, reaching out to nearby towers looking for a better one to connect to, if it drops off it polls for new towers to connect to...

That's why, if you spend a lot of time in a low or zero signal area, your Cell Standby will be super high - it has to spend a LOT more time connecting and reconnecting, or looking for better towers, if you're in a low or zero signal area.

Jeez. I'm away for the morning and things progress amazingly! Wwwwwwow!

Awesome. I'm looking forward to this level of support. They must have quite a team of devs.

per @cvpcs via twitter:

"Good news: all of CM4DX is now mergered into the mainline CM tree. Just need to work out a few kinks for nightly status."

I so want to install this but I think I will wait it out....for now.
