Iconia A500 Update To Honeycomb 3.1?

I had a similar issue to GFizzle, only my update wasn't interrupted, I just wasn't able to connect to WiFi networks. I thought the hotel I was in had booted it from the network because of the 120+MB download but as soon as I got home and realized it wouldn't connect to my home network. Factory reset fixed it...
 
After talking to the third Acer agent, that is what was concluded. The rep mentioned that they were getting calls like this today since the roll out is ramping up. I suggested a quick FAQ be placed on their web. He said 3.1 should still be on the tab after the factory reset I I have confirmed this as I type. I am in the process of getting this tab back to where I was. So far wifi is working - Now I will restore my home screen, data and apps and will update this forum with my results.

Rush I told you long ago that screen on issue was fixed, yet you keep coming around asking the same questions and running around asking people the same should you buy it again questions. You truly are trolling these forums planting seeds of doubt as you go along. Advice to you is make a decision and live with it, but please end the trolling lol.
 
It is too sad that I still haven't got the message from Acer to update to 3.1. Is it due to I already root it ?

There have been some rumors Acer paused the update because some were having installation issues. I'm thinking that will have it back on line ASAP if this is true.
 
Had to perform a factory reset to fix the WiFi problem. Had exactly the same issue with WiFi stuck in a 'Obtaining IP address..." loop. Strange that the Tablet worked OK AFTER the update, but could not connect to the network today. Called ACER support and was told to Reset, which I wasnt happy with. Had to re-install my applications etc, but works fine now....
 
Hi, me again ...

Well, I did the factory reset, spent half a day getting all my applications back on and widgets all set up on the home pages ( my Backup Pro was set so /mnt/sdcard and not the real external sdcard /mnt/external_sd so the non-cloud backups were wiped too ) .

It worked for another whole day until this morning. I am running into the same problem again. As another poster notes, even with the factory reset it goes to 3.1 not back to 3.01. This is not good!

I see in another thread that they are pulling the update. Wise move. For those already in this pickle, I suppose we wait or discover that it really is another app that is causing the issue. Can we collectively find a workaround in the meantime?
 
My A500 has always randomly woken from sleep on it's own. Even with the last update. UNTIL I got the 3.1 update a few days ago.

However I now have the same problem as others, after 3.1 update, everything worked fine for about 2 days. Now, I cannot connect to ANY wifi. Even unsecured, can't even tether off my phone.

It seems from others experience a factory reset may fix this, but surely that can't be the only answer? I don't really want to resetup the whole device.

Does anyone have any more info on this problem?

Hi guys! Im new here and I just wanted to share my experience with my Acer Iconia after updating to Honeycomb 3.1

After updating to Honeycomb, it did seem to run faster and better but after how many hours, i wasnt able to connect to any wifi network. That pissed me off... :l

I tried numerous ways to try and fix it, I even tried manually using static ip and reserving an ip address for my tablet and it worked, it did connect but there was no internet.

So I tried resetting my tablet by pressing the reset button beside the usb port. the first reset, no luck, still won't connect but on the second time i reset my device i was able to connect :-)

I suggest before you do a factory reset on your device, try resetting your device first 2 times and make sure to forget the wifi networks as well and try reconnecting again.

I hope this helps! So far I've connected to three different wifi networks and experienced no problem at all. :-)

You are one of the chosen ones lol. Last night I just got an update that seems to be the one you need right before you get the 3.1... its just a different version of 3.0.1

Build number:
1.141.07_com_gen1

Any day now for 3.1, not that I'm complaining, I'm real happy with it as it is and at least I know what to do if my wi-fi craps out when I finally do get the update...thanks to you guys. :)
 
After the 3.1 update my A500 is running very well also. It is extremely smooth and I have had no Wi-Fi connectivity issues.

Has to be very frustrating for owners who have had issues though, hope Acer gets a reworked OTA out soon. I won't be going to it though, don't want to tempt fate.
 
Kansas City and my iconia still doesn't have the 3.1 upgrade. I did get the 3.0.1 upgrade on July 6th.

I'm really looking forward to 3.1, I just bought my tablet a few weeks ago so I didn't want to root it and put a custom one in just yet but for the next update I might go that way since waiting is not one of my virtues.

Be patient, the 3.01 update fixed everything for me, the 3.1 update is not mind blowing and some have had issues so wait.

Now I don't know if this is the latest version of this build but it went very smooth on my stock (never rooted) a500. Right off the bat I can say its a bit quicker, no problem (yet) with Wi-Fi...I,ll keep you posted if I run into any problems or anomalies...fingers and toes crossed.

FWIW, the build number is new compared to the one on my device that updated on July 6. My build number is Acer_A500_4.010.08_COM_GEN2 Bolded is where the difference is. I wonder when those of us with this build will get the update to .11....
