Root OTA inbound...

According to P3 we are scheduled to receive an update for the X sometime next week...

It seems the update will include a new radio...and we will have to get back on .340 to get on this new update...

I assume he doesn't yet have a copy that's rooted so we can stay as such.
 
According to P3droid, he'll set a record for how quickly this build is rooted and uploaded to the TBH app.

Would be welcomed with open arms if it did though...finally having the chains released from the X...

It really is a shame...because the X had the chance to be the OG DROID all over again...

It was THE phone to have when it launched and had it been unlocked would have kept A LOT if people from jumping ship to other devices IMO...

My phone was awesome on the original GB leak...and has gotten better and better with each release...ill be jumping on the rooted version of this as soon as it hits the TBH app

Personally I like the look of GingerBlur...that is the main reason I stay...the only part of blur that I actually use are the toggle widgets...

If the battery life was better on CM7...and it had fully functioning hardware I would probably be on that just using the GingerBlur theme...

Im also not a fan of the AOSP camera or dialer either...but not deal breakers...
 
I really hope this update fixes my 3g dropping issue I've had since release day. That is the only thing stopping from making the X perfect, IMHO. Hopefully moto doesn't change the keys, otherwise no update for me.
 
Is the OTA gingerbread 340 or are you guys talking about froyo 340. I read somewhere this is being pushed to strip phones of all tethering apps and to place some sort of tool to check for future tethering apps that may pop up on the radar.
 
.340 is the FroyoBlur system version. Gingerblur is currently at version .596

If you're on Gingerbread, you'll have to SBF back to Froyo (.340) to get this update.

If this is true what about the people on the OTA how would they get this update.
 
That doesn't make since to have to sbf to get the update... reason is the current user has been pushed the OTA Gingerbread already and should be running it (.596 unrooted stock)... they won't know how to SBF... usually only people who root their phone can SBF or even know what it is... if we have to SBF back to Froyo to get an "official" OTA then we may be falling into a trap (paranoid me kicking in, but it makes sense)
 
I assume you'd have to SBF back only if you're on the rooted GB to get a new OTA. For the people who took the original GB OTA, it's probably just like any other update and they'd have no need to SBF.

People on the OTA have no root. If you want the rooted update (that P3droid plans to upload in record time) you'll have to SBF back to Froyo or wait for an All-in-1.

only if you're on the rooted version of .596 will you have to SBF

Is this update just tweaking things in GB...i.e. like a patch to fix some things? Or will this new update be like GB release .597?
