Root snergy rom good?

Mojoe21

Newbie
hey guy running kings virus rom right now and is great love sense 3.0 but its a little buggy closing internet randomly and hanging up phone calls. plus it lags alot sometime

was gonna try the synergy rom and was wondering how to flash it.
i know when i flash kings virus i had to flash three files and to sd partitioning.and set ext2 size =2048 and upgraded ext2 to ext3

i had no idea what those settings did but just followed directions lol . do i need to undo those to flash the synergy ROM? of change setting again to flash this ROM?

what three files were those? was it for darktremors a2sd? if you do not know can you link the directions you go them from? both kings and synergy are just one file that you need to flash. just make sure to wipe sd ext along with data, dalvik cache and cache and flash away. nothing special needed.

dont forget to make a nandroid backup.

i flash a PRI zip file , then the ROM zip file , then i flashed a GFX zip file last. and it never worked until i partitioned the sd card and set the EXt2 TO 2048 MB.

hmmm, you may hafta do a factory reset when going to the new sense. I am still running cm7 cuz i cant convince myself that synergy is worth it (and yes, evom and perhaps ocn, i did try it out for a couple days LoL It just didnt fickle my fancy) but as i recall, you hafta do a SEVERE wipe, if not a few SEVERE wipes (just to error on the side of caution) before flashing this rom... it seems to be quite "particular" shall we say with regards to what was left on the phone at the time of install... heres a couple bits thatll help ease your concerns about doing a factory reset. Titanium backup (or pro if you dont mind shelling out a couple bucks,(it does batch operations which makes life SOOOOO much simpler with regards to backing crap up)) and sms backup/restore. Those two things can save alot of headache if youre worried about losing mssgs or apks when doing the rest. Additionally, if you have the original apk's, put them in a seperate folder on the root of your sd card so if all else fails, you can just reinstall.

why "perhaps" me? why not evom and ocn? are you trying to say something? and only a couple of days? lol you are such an aosp !##$%!:D

and like doofus here said, just make sure that you wipe well before flashing. also read the op for any rom that you are going to try out. there are usually instructions as to how to install it.

king does suggest a partition prior as the rom is housed there.

synergy doesnt require it but it will install the rom there if it is present.

to flash synergy do the following.

download the rom and put on your sd card. rc2 has most current fixes built in.

back up all apps sms and bookmarks etc.

wipe

dalvick
cache
sd-ext
data
system

repeat twice.

doesnt hurt to also run vrsuperwipe.zip if you have it.

flash the rom.

download battery calibration apk. fully charge phone and run the calibration tool.

re install apps.

update prl
update data profile

enjoy!

LoL i only said perhaps ocn cuz i couldnt recall to what lengths we discussed synergy, but i know evom was str8 freaking out about it when it launched, even when it was buggy and took 40 min to boot up initially. Wasnt tryin to say anything derogatory man. Yeah, it was a short period of time, but the battery life just was about to drive me nuts!!! On that topic, I think my device isnt liking the new tiamat... ive updated and forgot to change my sig, but the new one has got my phone doin some weird s**t. might reflash the old one thereby correcting my sig LOL

I was sporting synergy for a while and it's a really solid ROM. I flashed DTA2SD to put dalvik back to internal rom and I also ran "zipalign". Those two things seemed to speed it up a bit. I know everything is supposed to be zipaligned, but I swear it seemed less laggy after doing these two things.

Recently I went back and tried MikG since I haven't tried it for a while. I flashed version 2.41. It is a little bit lighter overall (home screen doesn't work in landscape) and a couple of other things.

I ran the V6 supercharger script on MikG today and was pleasantly surprised at how much of a difference it made. The launcher has almost no lag and things like the agenda widget aren't reloading. It has made a noticeable difference overall in performance and would highly recommend it for anyone trying to squeeze out the last ounce.

I may go back and try synergy again on his RLS1 and run the supercharger script and see what I get.

You can't go wrong with synergy, though. Good stuff.

Synergy does landscape?

do you have a link for the v6 supercharger script? And i assume that instructions are located on the thread with the d/l link... Ive not delved into the scripts that heavily...

Synergy does landscape?

Man i hope so... thats something that cm7 does that im just not willing to give up... i know it may sound trivial to some, but i just love the pure novelty of being able to turn my phone 360 degrees and have the home screen follow with every turn! I know that kinda makes me a 34 year old 6'4" child, but small minds are amused by small things i guess lol

I can confirm 100% that Synergy RC2 does Landscape mode.

All I can say about synergy. Its provably the cleanest, best performing sense rom I've ever used. I love everything about it. EXCEPT.for me atleast,it had by far the WORST battery life of any rom I used so far.is this just me or has anyone else had this problem. I used it for about a week or so and had to charge like 2-3 times a day. Anyone else?

MikG can do landscape mode. Just flash a landscape mod found at themikmik.com....works like a charm.

Sorry, took me a bit to get back to this thread...

General thread about the script:
[Script] V6 SuperCharger! HTK & BulletProof Launchers! The ONLY Android MEMORY FIXER! - xda-developers

Evo specific thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093687

I've installed supercharger update 8. There seems to be an issue with many ROM's having the settings "stick" after a reboot. You can check "run at boot" to fix that issue as it doesn't really harm anything.

I've tried the aggressive mode, balanced mode, and mega memory mode on MikG 2.41. Balanced 2 has been the best for me. My agenda has only refreshed once in two days of on/off. This includes coming out of the browser, after playing angry birds, etc. Basically this script puts your launcher in a bulletproof or hard to kill mode and prioritizes what gets killed more efficiently.

In the end, my phone seems quite a bit quicker overall with almost no lag whatsoever.

As far as landscape in the launcher -- yeah, I know I can flash it, but I don't really use it much, if any, and I'd rather not add anything unless I use it as every time I flash a mod it seems to bork something.

getting 5 days per charge on stock phone...little usage.research it a bit and try and find what is killing your battery.

i also suggest the battery calibration apk...that worked wonders for me

I can't imagine what would cause someone to need 2-3 charges per day on Synergy unless something was not running correctly. I had great battery life on it. MikG is very similar (2.1/3.0 mix) and I get the same thing -- stellar battery life. If you run Navigation or 4G for extended periods, then yeah, your battery will be toast quickly, but I've used my phone off and on today for email, two 5-minute calls, and about 5 minutes of browsing news and stocks. My phone is at 78% and it has been on for just under 8 hours at this point.

I got a extended battery but i still can't really do a full day between gmail and my Kmail being checked like every hour I can't see many other ways to squeeze out more juice.. I did order another 3500 mAh battery since the one I have is almost a year old.
