I personally do not like to flash anything, hboot or recovery, with my battery under 90%. I bootlooped my OG droid with a low battery once, I was without a phone for 2 days until the external charger arrived. Of course the OG droid would not charge with the phone off, ***best design flaw ever***

You have got to be kidding me. I'm old enough to have actually made a call on a bag phone (my dad had one, lol), and I have never, ever, heard of a phone that had to be on to charge. Basically, if you run the battery all the way down the phone would be effectively dead without an external charger.
In fact, pretty much every rechargeable battery product I have seen for the last ten years or so recommends fully charging the battery before turning on the product for the first time.
Edit: Of course, I am a dork and made sure I had an external charger before I rooted the TB, lol.

Ya i had the droid 1 also, the second you plugged in the charger it would turn itself on but it didnt start charging untill it fully booted so if you were in a bootloop you were screwed...if im remembering correctly

not much to add. i was prepaired for the quick flash since ive watched plenty of RUUs flash... the bootloader,when present, is always quick. so is recovery.
you guys are lucky to be at desks with real computers. i can only check the forum on my phone at stoplights
im currently trying to be patient,as i want to flash an unmodified mr2 to test the new s-off block,then hboot the updated team win recovery(simulating an "oops i flashed the wrong ruu scenario),then do some backups(and check some other things
)

as long as you were in a functional rom,you could turn the OG droid off and charge it(i had one too
) but the phone would not charge in bootloader or recovery(unless you used spr recovery
), so if you goofed yourself up and got stuck in a bootloop or stuck bootloader mode,you were screwed.The OG droid was awesome but moto royally screwed it with the charging port. It wouldn't charge until it was on your lock screen. It would turn on if you had it off and plugged it in. If the battery was so dead you couldn't get to the lockscreen you had to have the external charger or it would try to boot until it died then try to boot again til it died and cycle til the battery was unable to even get to the moto logo. The issue was fixed with the DX I think and you could turn on the phone without the battery in it if it was plugged in so you could use it to get to amazon and order the charger LOL.

This was just one of the times I bootlooped my OG droid. I would just try to do stuff on the phone to see if I could, turns out trying to replace system apps via root explorer with system apps from other phones doesn't work well most times...nor does seeing what all you can delete from /system and still have a working phone. Screwing around on that phone taught me a lot, I actually wish I still had an OG droid so I could screw with it some more.

Ya i kept mine and used it to help me learn with adb before rooting my thunderbolt...and doing what i said above, seeing how messed up i could make it while still having it boot

i kept my eris for this purpose... the poor lil devil has been the root of may phone experiments that have helped me immensely
My (ex)wife had an OG droid who met it's death by falling in the toilet, I got a used D2G and gave her mine instead of paying the insurance claim, she let that one get "stolen", I still have the D2G but moto screwed it up with the bootloader so playing with it is not as fun, but it now "pays" for babysitting and she would get pissed if I decided to "modify" the phone and cause problems with it.

notice recovery is updated(to stock) and hboot is again "bypassed"
booted to recovery and heres what i got(yup stock recovery allright)
pulled battery,booted to hboot and flashed recovery. flashed superuser and rotoed mr2.
happy to say permanent patch and hboot recovery flashing is working fine

im totally diggin it. i asked on the xda thread if it would also block OTA hboot flashing. not that theres much point,but if it does all they gotta do is hboot the stock recovery and accpet it.
i hope jcase puts it in the exploits file instead of the regular eng hboot. then everyone who doesnt know any better will have it when they root,like it or not

so i am a little confused about this whole process. I noticed your hboot says 1.04.0000, and has the unlocked up at the top. My hboot currently is 1.04.2000. If i flash this does anything on my phone change, i see you all talking about different recoveries, i assume i can flash and i will still have CWM, and this won't mess up my setup currently correct?
Reading through it seems this would just prevent an accidental acceptance of an OTA or flashing a ruu from taking away s-off. I am just wondering if this is something i should flash or not?
