Root EVO_Radio_2.15.00.08.08: Flash Procedure

Tried flashing radio and getting same error as flyboy on post 27 i believe:
Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.
Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5. It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery. Please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages. Installation aborted.

Tried installing Amon-Ra following instructions, renaming file PC36IMG. Not picking up on reboot. File is on Root - not in any folder. Should there be a period after IMG? Starting to think I'm just buggy. Should I just wipe everything and start with fresh install of Cm7 and Tiamet?

yeah you need amon ra2.3. just rename the file by deleting the _RA_2.3 from the name. do not add an extra zip as windows hides extensions. the needs to be PC36IMG exactly. if you add the zip then the file will look like PC36IMG.zip.zip which you do not want.

My laptop is Vista. Have Winrar but am not choosing to extract, just rename. Can uninstall Winrar if you think that would help.

this how the file needs to be

Ok. Let me try and play around with some things and see if I can get it the way it needs to be. Using my tether for internet so everything i do takes forever switching between usb and tether. Thanks for the info man. Will let ya know in a bit.

Just want to be sure i flashed this correct. My phone went to the black screen with the green circle and arrow, stayed there for about a minute and then went back to recovery from there it said at the bottom "formatting cache" but i was able to move up and down with the vol up/down button, so i went to reboot now and my phone started up. is there any way for me to check if it installed or should i have waited for a prompt in the recovery before i rebooted while it was said "formatting cache"?

go into you phones settings/about phone/software info/and find your baseband info. that should tell you if you have updated or not.

baseband version 2.15.00.0808, didn't check what it said before that, but it seems to be good, since thats the file i flashed
also i was reading that this fixes the voice search issue, is that true?

no it should not. you can try it. but it is just the radios that is in the zip.

I was reading this thread and thats where it said the new radio zip addresses that issue....

I have done both the radio update and the voice search fix. I got the voice search fix patch in http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/407948-voice-search-ota-update-mikg2-5-3d.html.

I get confused, but I think I applied it to Mike3dBeta and it works just fine.

The radio upgrade I am not sure where I got at this moment.

All seems well on the new radios. One question, what PRI are you guys all running? I am on 1.77 with everything else current. Is it really worth it for me to update to the newest version? I forget the exact number, but it's the only one above 2.x.

ya did the backup, wiped dalvik cache and cache and flashed it, everything seems ok, gonna try the voice search when i am in the car....thx

be careful.

I use earbuds with a mic and it didn't work that well. when I tried it w/o the buds, just hand held, it did great.

Let us know please.

well i did notice one thing with the MiK 3d rom im running. when i set the in call volume for the ear speaker to whatever i want and then switch to the back speaker the volume is the same as it was on the in call volume, (ie. real loud or low). before this rom you were able to set two different volumes one for speaker and one for the ear speaker.

Any special procedures needed just to update only the 8.08 radio?

CM7.1 nightly
tiamat 407

the first 3 posts in this thread spell it out real well. have a good charge on it, don't pull battery,
and make sure you are using the amn ra recovery first.
