I can't believe they didn't fix the build.prop error, really!?!

@Robucuz, nicely done man. You had this issue nailed weeks ago but it seemed like very few people were listening. Kinda thought this is where we were headed b/c several of the initial OTA recipients were having app on sd problems. Debacle.

Maybe we should find "He who shall not be named" and ask about that "crack team of developers" at Verizon... ;)

ps. My arm is getting tired waving this dead chicken around, trying to conjure the update for my phone...

For people who lost apps through the update. Would it be possible to remove the sd card before doing the update, and then just put it back in afterwards? I still haven't gotten it

So looks like we are all stuck with incorrect prop build info WTG verizon, maybe I will install some sprint apps on my new 4.3" Incredible

Maybe Verizon was secretly bought by Sprint :) The light-saber wielding lobsters were in charge of the buyout so now Verizon is going to be re-branded to Sprint.

lol but really having sprint show up in the market how can they make any money of there crappy VERIZON apps. maybe we will get a fix, but pretty sad we have a bunch of sprint stuff on a verizon phone.

I was thinking my missing apps were due to my leaving just a few on the SD card before updating, but someone else here mentioned that all of his missing apps were from the Amazon Appstore.

With further inspection I found 5 missing apps. All of them were on the SD card prior to updating, but only 2 were from Amazon.

All users that have apps on SD....move to phone storage. GB update is looking for those apps in the internal storage now. I'm on vacation so I'm too lazy to give exact detail but there is a thread about this. Credit to robocuz.

Yeah, I moved the apps I had on the SD card back to the phone this morning, in preparation. Thankfully I only had like 5 there...

I just started a new thread clearly stating problem and solution for those users that are search-limited. :)

I don't know if it is an option for most to move the apps, as some might not have enough space internally for all their apps. Also, some apps force themselves to be on the SD, users may not even realized they have SD apps! I think copying from the old to new location is a better message, as most people won't know what happened until they hit the problem, and then will go looking for solutions :D --just my $.02

I received the update this morning. I am showing Sprint in the market, and a bunch of Sprint apps in that section (I think this is hysterical...someone at Verizon should seriously get smacked if it's their fault this happened). I also had just about everything installed on the SD card, and so far I've noticed the following apps missing:

  • Angry Birds (Original, Rio & Seasons)
  • Dolphin Browser
  • Google Sky Maps
  • Foursquare
  • Dropbox
  • Google Earth
  • Google Shopper
  • Amazon Kindle
  • Monkey Preschool
  • Meteor Brick Breaker
  • Random Mahjong Pro

I also had an icon on one of my home screens disappear but I can't remember what was there, so there may be at least one more I haven't figured out yet.

I reinstalled Dolphin browser from the market and my bookmarks are still there (I was NOT using the bookmark sync feature). I also reinstalled Angry Birds Rio and my completed levels are still there, so it looks like while the apps disappeared my data remained and is still accessible.

In fact, that's the other potential workaround I think is to make sure fastboot is enabled. From another thread:

Would you be willing to try something? Go to menu > settings > applications and see if "fastboot" is checked or unchecked. Whichever status, it's currently in...do the opposite. Then do the fix from the first post, then reboot and see if the problem persists.

Just want to rule this out.

I have tried this solution and it seems to be working. I have restarted the phone several times and even pulled the battery for several minutes. Upon restart, everything seems to be in order and functioning properly. All of my apps showed up, even the ones on the SD card.

I do have Fast Boot enabled. However, it only seems to work when I don't pull the battery. When the battery gets pulled, it goes through the whole long startup process.

Evidently due to the SD card not unmounting in a fastboot situation I assume. More of a workaround than a fix.

Thanks for the warning! I moved all my apps back to the phone using appstosd--only took a few minutes.

Do you all think this has to do with the "low on space" issue? I read around here that the app libraries are now moving to the SD card along with the app itself to help steer data away from the data/data folder. Perhaps when they reprogrammed what moves they caused this bug.

Just a side note: After moving like 30 apps back to the phone I didn't even get the low on space warning! I thought moving some of the bigger ones actually helped in some small way even though the libraries weren't moving.

Apologies for not getting back here sooner....work summoned me, and I had to answer....

Can you go to the "Hardware information" page under Settings|About Phone and post if you have a section called "Display" and what it says? Better yet, post a screen shot of that page if you can.

It says I have the larger screen...4.3. I can't post a screenshot at the moment, but that's what it says...

hmmm ... does it boot that fast after a battery pull?

Yikes...It does NOT....just did the battery pull, and it takes about a minute for full boot up...might even be slower than it used to boot before my update.

Also just an update. I was wrong about the missing apps. Just to confirm, they were on the SD card. I don't know why since I don't recall moving them, but they were.

I'm not sure...I think it more likely when they ported the GB release they forgot to fix it again, if they had to from Froyo...or it was changed in GB and they had to fix it and just missed it. It is true that now, when you move apps to SD, they link the libraries as well out of /data/data, but I don't suspect it is related.

yes fast mount is checked on.

so after shutting off fast boot, and restarting then re checking fast boot the apps stay. Just trying to get my ducks in a row.

1. If using fast boot in will keep the apps on the sd card there since it does not unmount the card on shutdown.

2. The other way is to move all apps from your SD card to your internal phone storage.

Same here and I got the phone day 1. Crazy!!!

Same here. I got mine last September, though (not day 1).

I hope they don't stop updating us because of all the whiners. Get over it already and love your new Sprint phone! LOL

(just kidding about the "whiners" - this is weird. I do hope I get the update, "Sprint" build prop or not)

LOL Sprint has hijacked the VZW Incredible OTA. :D

After this wait all Summer I get that and it messes up the phone I may just go get the Moto Bionic tomorrow.
