Root Geesh SOL thread already yanked???

I was replying when I got the threas message. Hopefully its yanked under the ROM/Kernel download screen then.

Yanked for a reason. GPL violations are serious. It's not just about crediting sources (ie- "I used Lithid's freedom kernel as a base.), it's about sharing the source code and another thing or two.

It's not really the developer who suffers from stuff like this happening, it's the forums/sites that host them and eventually the users. We continue to benefit from open-source policies, but if people continue to ignore the rules it may not stay like that.

All he has to do is post the source code and follow the same rules that any other developer is required to follow. I obviously can't speak on why there's a hold-up on that, but as long as he plays by the rules his work will be posted anywhere he likes.

He made claims that things were super improved but didn't post the source code (the coding for his actual kernel), so nobody knows how he did it or if its "safe".

I'm assuming that wont work, or the problem would be solved. To tell you the truth I'm no expert on thsi either and trying to figure it all out myself I just know the problem is he didnt post the code.

Trying to get edumacated my ownself.

I haven't seen where any of them have 'posted the code' except for the product itself.

Mayhap, in the rarified circles of developers, someone has the authority to make these demands, behind the scenes, and he failed to comply?

I didn't have a clue the thing was so structured though, but what do i know? :p

Its really too bad. This kernel was good. However finding this guy messing with open source rules made me instantly flash back to freedom. I hope he releases the source so we can enjoy his work.

I really enjoyed his kernel as well. I will keep it on my SD card in f=case I want to play more with it. I'd like to know its safe though

So i Have been running this kernal since the the first hour or 2 it came out , my daily driver is kings shooter 2.4 odexed and i switch back and fourht to mik's 2.1 + 3.0 vs 2.55 i am curently using the sol kernal on both these roms with no ill effect ,getting about 12 to 14 hrs of battery use , excellent performance, quardrants in the 1400's no bad nothing stellar , still pretty much a noob although been rooted for a year , only bricked one phone to date lol . Sorry for rambling my Question is what are the ramifications of continuing to run this kernal , very stable very smooth been 48 hrs so far no issues so far , the only thing that concerns me is late last night almost exactly at midnight i noticed an applications called scribble started out of nowhere , never downloaded this app couldn't find it anywhere on my phone not built into any rom , searched on market this particular scribble no where to be found , maybe i'm just being paranoid but this app seems to have come with this kernal , any thoughts or insights wouls be gretaly appreciated .......

i doubt that it came from the kernel. never heard of any app coming from a kernel like that.of course this guy has not released the source code, so who knows what he put into the kernel. my suggestion to be safe is to move on from that kernel. but that is up to you.

and out of curiosity, is that app in your app drawer?

Thanks again for your insight. To answer your question no that app is not I'm my app drawer really weird , would you suggest freedom kernel or chop suey thanks again for the quick response and your help

Using titanium backup, and wandering through rom trying to see what I could delete, I have actually seen scribble, and a bunch of other things, that I can't find in my app drawer. Never seen one start up by itself though.

But, my fat fingers are always starting up things I hadn't planned on.
