Last warning to cool it on the really off topic stuff... If it continues, I will be closing the thread and cleaning it, and perhaps handing out warnings. (frustrated)

Sorry Steven, must be the delirium from the postponed announcement. We'll stop now!

i get the concept of Sammy "hoarding" its own chips for its own uses, and that Sammy devices could have the 4212 before end of the year. BUT, in this scenario, Google was the one who decided the hardware specs, and made that decision quite some time ago (most likely well before even Sammy was comfortable with its 4212). because Google has been calling the shots, and most likely called the processor "shot" a while ago, that's the part that still gives me pause even in the face of the possibility that Sammy could have its own 4212 ready...

I tend to agree with this point of view, even though I'd like to see the latest Exynos chipset in there.

BUT. . . I keep seeing references to sampling being made for "third parties". This makes me think that Samsung can put it in their own phones at a mass production rate, and maybe they presented that to Google, and that's why Google chose them as the Nexus manufacturer? I mean, there has to be a reason they were picked again, right?

Is that possible?

On station, got your back.

Off-topic posts below this point deleted with extreme prejudice.

Nothing personal - but that's the way it's got to be.

This is now the Number One Thread on the Internet for user-vetted Prime News - let's respect that newcomers have a right to know, with less noise.

Cheers, many thanks to all for working with us on this. ;)

I see it a little differently. Here's the conversation:

Samsung: Hey Google, we have this smokin' hot chip that we think might work great in the Nexus. Wanna give it a try?
Google: Sure, send over a couple of test devices and we'll check it out.
Samsung: Here ya go!
Google: Oh man, this chip rocks! If we tweak ICS a bit we can really make this an optimized marriage made in heaven. Do you have enough quantity/time to get it into the Nexus?
Samsung: Sho thing bro! It'll be tight but we can do it...

And now, a month or so later, here we are. What do you think? Sound plausible?

I like the thinking here...

I find myself skipping post that aren't by vz_wired

I can't figure out why everyone seems to believe everything this VZ guy says. Sure he could know everything going on but how do we know that? He is a new member that just started posting and as far as I'm concerned has zero credibility. For all we know he doesn't work for verizon and doesn't know a thing about whats going on. Heck I could have set here and said the same things he is saying without having any knowledge of the phone at all.

i really hope so... damn why did they have to postpone the UNpacked event... :/

if they could mass produce it for themselves, why couldn't they mass produce it for everyone ;)

it takes awhile to go from samples to production.

Of course it's possible! I would be happy with the 1.5ghz TI Omap, but with the possibility of the specs that come along with the Exynos and the gpu that it is, rumored to be, paired with...geez...that is just a phone that goes strong and goes hard for AT LEAST two years without needing an upgrade. My Droid Incredible has been fantastic. It has been a two year phone. I've had a couple of replacements, but still it is fine for me and keeps up with everything to date. If we get a Nexus with the specs that GSM Arena released, then we have the VERY best phone to-date, and we have a phone that will last for two years, plus. That's why I'm really pulling for the better specs on this phone.

but what have we got to lose believing him?!?! we won't be any worse off even if he turns out to be a poser...

besides, he's been giving hints and making predictions that have concided with subsequent reports/leaks. right now, nothing screams "poser" about him, so we're going with it (or at least i am)...

I could be giving those same exact hints but yet not know a darn thing about it ;) I also haven't seen anything new out of him that wasn't already posted somewhere else first.

if they could mass produce it for themselves, why couldn't they mass produce it for everyone. . . . .

Maybe so they could grab a bigger piece of the market share before they started helping everyone else out? I know that they make money off selling their chips to other manufacturers, but maybe they wanted to be the first ones out of the gate with their own superior chip? Just wondering. . .

Is anyone other than me concerned that we haven't seen this thing go through the FCC yet? 30 days from today already puts us into November 7. . .

I think that VZ's aim is to reassure us and calm us down a bit, not necessarily to leak anything. His posts don't come off as glory-seeking to me.

But regardless, I don't care much. I put as much stock in what he (she) says as I do in what you or anyone else says.

Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING is BS until it's official. The new fangled cases and display issues leaking about the iPhone 5 has taught me that.

While 30 days has always been a good rule of thumb, during the Evo 3D launch, we tracked and noted several phones this year that had a little over a week's delay between FCC approval and launch.

Plus - those FCC posts are courtesy of leaks, and we don't always get them, so - you know. ;)

Good points indeed but I could also see them in early meetings talking about the 4212 and Google saying "Oh yeah we want that one."

I think it's the perfect handset to intro it on. What better way to get your select partners to purchase a huge amount of units after they see the success and reviews it's receives.

I'm bummed that we won't get an announcement on Tuesday but I think it's a classy move. I'm sure they were going to stick it to Apple and now that's not really appropriate.

I will sit on my hands and continue to wait. I hope this beast lives up to the hype because I plan on getting one on launch day.

...Go Lions and Tigers. :)

You both make too much sense.

i hope you're right. i just hope that it doesn't mean delay and/or bugs...

Here is a sum up of all the rumors...
