Last warning to cool it on the really off topic stuff... If it continues, I will be closing the thread and cleaning it, and perhaps handing out warnings. (frustrated)
where's the sense in this?![]()
i get the concept of Sammy "hoarding" its own chips for its own uses, and that Sammy devices could have the 4212 before end of the year. BUT, in this scenario, Google was the one who decided the hardware specs, and made that decision quite some time ago (most likely well before even Sammy was comfortable with its 4212). because Google has been calling the shots, and most likely called the processor "shot" a while ago, that's the part that still gives me pause even in the face of the possibility that Sammy could have its own 4212 ready...

edit: any suggestions for the new date of the unpacked event?
I see it a little differently. Here's the conversation:i get the concept of Sammy "hoarding" its own chips for its own uses, and that Sammy devices could have the 4212 before end of the year. I tend to agree with this point of view, even though I'd like to see the latest Exynos chipset in there.
BUT. . . I keep seeing references to sampling being made for "third parties". This makes me think that Samsung can put it in their own phones at a mass production rate, and maybe they presented that to Google, and that's why Google chose them as the Nexus manufacturer? I mean, there has to be a reason they were picked again, right?
Is that possible?
I find myself skipping post that aren't by vz_wired

I can't figure out why everyone seems to believe everything this VZ guy says. Sure he could know everything going on but how do we know that? He is a new member that just started posting and as far as I'm concerned has zero credibility. For all we know he doesn't work for verizon and doesn't know a thing about whats going on. Heck I could have set here and said the same things he is saying without having any knowledge of the phone at all.
but what have we got to lose believing him?!?! we won't be any worse off even if he turns out to be a poser...
besides, he's been giving hints and making predictions that have concided with subsequent reports/leaks. right now, nothing screams "poser" about him, so we're going with it (or at least i am)...
if they could mass produce it for themselves, why couldn't they mass produce it for everyone. . . . .
I could be giving those same exact hints but yet not know a darn thing about itI also haven't seen anything new out of him that wasn't already posted somewhere else first.
Maybe so they could grab a bigger piece of the market share before they started helping everyone else out? I know that they make money off selling their chips to other manufacturers, but maybe they wanted to be the first ones out of the gate with their own superior chip? Just wondering. . .
Is anyone other than me concerned that we haven't seen this thing go through the FCC yet? 30 days from today already puts us into November 7. . .
Good points indeed but I could also see them in early meetings talking about the 4212 and Google saying "Oh yeah we want that one."i get the concept of Sammy "hoarding" its own chips for its own uses, and that Sammy devices could have the 4212 before end of the year. I think it's the perfect handset to intro it on. What better way to get your select partners to purchase a huge amount of units after they see the success and reviews it's receives.
