***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

In other news - it is strange that there is so little info on the RAZR given its impending release.
That's what i was trying to say earlier in this thread in relation to leaks.

Final product is not getting in the testers hands that leak stuff anymore (on Moto's end at least)

I'm sure other company's such as Samsung will follow if they already have not done so.

We would have seen Mr Blurry cam show up by now. RELIABLE and GOOD info is getting harder and harder to come by. I only hear very vague things from sources nowadays and I'm forced to assume a lot.

Watch it: Verizon is going to play up the RAZR to the hilt: media blitz, big signs in the windows, arrows in the store pointing to the device and reps saying "OOOH you gotta buy this phone!"

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy-Nexus-Prime will be played down, sitting all alone, virtually ignored. Why? Verizon's preferred relationship with Motorola. All because of the locked bootloader issue and the relative difficulty in removing VZW bloatware from Moto phones.

I'd almost bet a paycheck on this scenario.

Kind of like what happen with the nexus one and the incredible. Verizon basically choose the incredible staying it was so similar. From what I remember.

Nexus Prime Announcement Coming Nov. 3rd, Says Verizon Inside Source

this seems wrong to me... I was under the impression that we were holding November 3rd as the release date, and we should be hearing an announcement very soon. How could they get this wrong? (or maybe I'm wrong.)

I'm going to be very unhappy if the announcement gets pushed back to Nov. 3rd, but could deal with it if the phone turned out to be killer. This worries me though:

the screen and user experience is much better in the Nexus device, and the overall advantage is the presence of Ice Cream Sandwich (I

And this is exactly why I don't fall for these "sources". Here we have Stevens "source" and VZ giving two different answers. These "sources" have yet to give us any real information anyway...

Also I'm not sure why everyone assumes the phone was going to be released on the 3rd when it was never made official and has always been speculation.

Nov 3 is confirmed by vz wired. I think the language is misleading. It should be launched and not announced.

Maybe they are doing an announcement and launch same day?

Knowing Verizon they'd probably launch it then after it's launched hold an announcement. I mean I did get my Incredible 3 days before it's release date. Not that I'm complaining. :D

All of this talk about specs (even the comparisons that Earlymon and myself did about 20 pages back) had me thinking. Of all the possible "specs," here are the only ones that I truly care about;

Will this be a true Nexus phone, or will it be just a "Google Experience" phone on Verizon? To be more specific;
-Who handles the updates, Google or Samsung?
-Do the updates get pushed straight from Google to the phone, or does Verizon do their usual 6-8 week delay (don't call it testing anymore, no excuse for the TB and Inc updates if they actually tested)
-If it's a true Nexus, do we get the free out of box tethering (like with every other Nexus on every other carrier), or do we still have to pay to unlock tethering?

These are the main issues for me, and what I'll be looking for at the official announcement. Because if it's not a straight Nexus, then I don't care, I'll just get the first major phone between the Prime, RAZR, and Vigor to run CM8. And in all likelihood, that would be the Vigor.

No doubt Goog/Sung/Izon came to an "agreement" to leave out the free tethering. Verizon stands to lose too much from their $20/month hot spot feature. Everything else, I would say, is on the table.

EDI: Oh By The Way, we surpassed 500 posts in 22 hours, which puts us on track for another record pace! Let's race to #6000 and shatter the 53-hour/1000 posts record! :)

Razr is not for me if it comes with pentile qHD screen, locked bootloader. I need at least HD resolution regardless of pentile or not. That leaves Prime, Revo 2, Vigor to me.

I don't quite think of it that way. I think final product is getting into testers hands. It has to. You can't really have a truely valid test and for that matter valid opinion feedback if it doesn't. I think the different is the tester that the hands belong to. They are being much more thoroughly vetted to be trustworthy. Maybe they are even being paid to be testers.

VZ wired is just some guy on the internet and new to this forum, his word means nothing to me without official proof ;)

Apparently he/she has been vetted by our illustrious mod and that's good enough for me :)

I personally trust Steven's assessments as well.

That said, AndroidForums official stance in this matter is that all members here are free to examine the information themselves and to come to their own conclusions. It's our Admin (Phases) belief that in this way, group scrutiny will ultimately establish the bona fides of any information, and the source(s), in question.

Because jobs are stake, and corporations have their own way about them (need I say more?) - I would ask that we concentrate on the information rather than the individuals.

Ultimately, the good guys giving us good information only care about that anyway.

Thank you! :) ;)

EDIT AND PS:

Maybe if we can get Steven to state why he has more faith in this source a lot of the other's skepticism would be reduced

That is exactly what we seek to avoid.

  • In the event that someone is telling the truth, they could lose their job by having details revealed
  • In the event a troll slips through our defense, the thread is neatly hijacked

That's only because a lot of people were off Monday.

Another alumnus from the Incredible thread here.

I've watching the Vigor threads, but I am now more interested in the next Nexus phone. I'm tired of delays with OS updates.

I'm very interested in accessories, specifically cases and belt clips. I have to wonder if some of the accessory makers will shy away from something with a curved screen because it requires a few extra steps.

Guys, the availability date is 11/3. The confusion lies between me and Quentyn, our publisher. He misunderstood what I was saying to him. It has nothing to do with any source being at error or confusing.

Edit: I actually feel bad for this mistake on our part and want to apologize to everyone here and to the source. I'm actually kinda upset. Sorry.

No worries Steven ;)
