Been watching this thread for a while, thought i would finally jump in. So keen for the prime.

Just a silly question, but is there any chance that with one of the rumours being sammy has some new lte chips in the thing, that could np support more then just 700mhz band lte.

I'm hoping yes.

Edit: forgot a word.
Welcome to the Forums. We're glad you're here.:D

Now...where's my PRIME?

Holy smokes, I think I'm going to go home (and still get paid) today! After a 1/2 hour of work! Woo hoo!

The firm is in hearings all day and I forgot! There's literally nothing for me to do. (When they're in hearings, I take the day off.)

Woo hoo!

Hmm. What to do? Go get a nice breakfast? Go shopping? See a movie? Ah, the day is so open and full of possibilities!

I am no longer grumpy, guys! I am no longer grumpy!

:D:D:D:D:D

Edit: I'll probably just go home and be chained to my computer again.

But seriously, I need some fresh air. This Prime business is driving me crazy.

Nice! Enjoy the day off. I say, go out and get some fresh air, but keep your phone with you so you can obsess in the fresh air. Its the best of both worlds!

Just out of curiosity, what are advantages to software buttons opposed to physical or capacitive?

I have no idea but for speculation they may be able to make them customizable and arrangeable or even re-sizable.

The hackers and developers will show us that perhaps.

Well I went three months with my thunderbolt before having phone envy. I managed to make it through the Bionic announcement just fine. But not doing so hot with the Nexus Prime, it really looks like my description of the perfect phone. Has there been any leaked info that would make me NOT want this phone?

Your reading comprehension skills are also old and out of date. I clearly stated that this was an old article and that I thought we should merely revisit it and see what all has come to fruition from it recently.

You can lynch me, I didn't read your comment to the end. ;)
I'm sooo lazy.. :D

Here a great mockup!

I tell you something useful. When I less read about NP, this thread and think about it, and do something different, creative - and just go back after some longer break - there are few adventages:
1. There is a huuuge amount of news and goodies waiting for me,
2. Time goes faster as I don't feel this pain about waiting so much :D

I think that sometimes P3 is right, sometimes P3 is wrong, and it should be treated with the same giant pile of salt that everything else should be treated. He's already said that the Prime would have VZW bloatware, and then the app list leaked with no bloatware. He's at the mercy of his source(s) which are clearly not 100% reliable.

I don't remember his exact words, and won't attempt to find them in the mess that is Twitter...but he also stated boldly that anyone claiming that there were two versions of the Prime were wrong.

That's when I stopped even checking.

Ok, but what about all this internal exclusives he has acces to - eg. wallpapers and system sounds he publicated last days? Where he works? Does he even have any closer contact with the Google or any carrier sleuths?

For those who care, the reason you can't normally mix and match arbitrary CPUs and GPUs is that they're manufactured on the same chip. With everything so tightly packed on smaller and thinner phones, the guts are prepackaged together on a System-on-a-Chip.

I do not care
Wow, kewl stuff! So there would no longer be individual subpixels? If so, then no more ClearType or similar tricks, which sometimes don't work on portrait monitors.

Some times it does.
Within a given architecture, bumping from 1.0 to 1.2 to 1.5GHz certainly will give a roughly proportional boost, unless you're already maxing out your RAM bandwidth and don't have effective enough caching.

If you are maxing out your bandwidth
Surely at least a few manufacturers/carriers have long had sock puppets in these and similar forums, but I wouldn't go so far as to suggest that any mods know who they are. ;)

Thats a guess, I guess
It's possible that 4430 and 4460 are the same chips binned differently, but having the same block diagram doesn't imply anything about commonality of their chip implementations (although they'd be stupid to have different pinouts).

Possible yes
Good luck, hope you get it!

Yeah, but on the other hand, I can't just sit anywhere else than in front of notebook longer than few hours. Huh :D

Removing features? nooooooooooo! Hope it's not ture :(:(

It would depend on the features. I mean, we haven't gotten to see or handle it, so we aren't really having anything taken away from us. Unless it affects performance/function in some way.

Plus, this would sort of line up with what vz was hinting at with adjusting ics a bit.

Also, based on the fact that they cancelled their presentation, I guess whatever is being removed was at least a mentionable part of their presentation/marketing.

Good ole Apple Strategy at work. Instead of keeping up with Android they sue everyone. Is Android's notification bar patented? Might be time to return the favor. I'm about sick of Apple whining about someone taking their technology, but they turn around and do the same thing.

I know that for the phone, but what would be the cheapest way to get any data on it? Of course, I guess I wouldn't need it with wifi and all...NM then.

Either the AT&T iPad plan (no voice) or walmart+tmobile are doing 5GB 4g (then throttling after that), 100 minutes, unlimited texts for $30/month starting around the 16th.

EDIT: there are also some prepaid plans that offer ala carte data for the days you want it...

I guess I could always get a mobile hotspot from Verizon and carry that around with it. :D

Reminds me of an article on using the iPhone on Verizon before it dropped. They had a hotspot rubberbanded to the back of an iPhone.
