Prediction - Android fans will cause a spike in sales for noise-cancelling headphones.

I hope the Nexus Prime or whatever it's going to be called arrives completely untouched by Verizon group think programming hacks.
Bingo, I couldn't have put it better myself. I think a lot of the people that panic and claim "last minute" major adjustments have never actually seen the kind of business processes that large corporations go through for R&D and manufacturing.
This isn't like programming at home. You don't just open the source, make an adjustment, and publish. There are source control systems, versioning, approval, testing phases... way too much to deliver a large product change in a short period of time.
Unless the game changes, if it says Nexus, then Google will control the updates.
And maybe I missed it some point back - but if it says Nexus, does this mean that a great many Verizon owners can now be freed from the tyranny of Bing?
I understood from Steven that the DX was saddled with that pig.
(Opinion on Bing: Yeah. No.)
Is anyone following the CTIA live blog at all? I am. I'm kind of hoping that maybe Verizon's CEO keynote address will give us something.
I know, I know. Still, one must hope.

When is keynote?
Yeah I was initially freaked out, but then read that it's mainly showing the native pre-ICS Android browser has been crap. Use Opera or Dolphin or whatever and the Android scores go wayyyyyy up. But kudos to Apple for having a nice running browser come standard.
. . .if pervert jokes aren't allowed, feel free to delete it (but you would break my heart)]
If the rumors are true (which one???) I think the Prime will exceed the 4S in almost every area except graphics. SGX540 just isn't a match for the SGX543MP2.But I was glad to see Tab 8.9 with Tegra2/Honeycomb does neck and neck with 4S in browser testings. This is good sign as ICS will inherit improved hardware accelerated browser from honeycomb. And SGS2 is still top performer among android phones. So with ICS, Prime will match or beat iPhone4S I guess.
If I'm not mistaken its NOT the processor that is being outbenchmarked. It's the GPU. With the rumored GPU the Nexus is to ship with the 4S will soon be having its ass handed to it.
so it's the day the Nexus Prime should have been announced... im kinda waiting for some more infos from vz_wired, so that this day isn't such a big 'disappointment' (besides the new 'small' leaks, but those don't offer anything concrete, no exact date or spec)
come on, give us what we want![]()
Agreed,The GLBenchmark test uses the GPU, and I don't think even Prime will catch up. Apple has one helluva nice GPU in the iPad2 and iPhone 4S, and some of us (let's not go there now!) don't believe Prime will have the Exynos 4212, which is considered to have the fastest GPU of any that might end up in Prime.
BUT... the SunSpider and Rightware benchmarks most likely are legitimate and do represent the experiences of users w/those phones.
To an extent it doesn't matter whether a performance problem is hardware or software, because the end result is still a crummy experience for the end user. But the good news is that the Android ICS browser is muuuuch faster, as are the Opera and Dolphin browsers available in the Market.
VZ_Wired I don't care about these clues you have been giving us, But I would like to know what are you having for lunch today?![]()
I believe I've followed the release of 5 android phones intently (Droid, Nexus1, Incredible,Shadow, NexusPrime) and the only one time Murtazin didn't have some negative comment was for the Original Droid.
I'd also like to expand on your alleviating concerns about software buttons. People seem to forget that this ICS is pulling from Honeycomb, which uses software buttons very well. The only problem I have with my Xoom is the crappy Tegra2 (which people were clamoring for in their phones last year, yuck).
If the rumors are true (which one???) I think the Prime will exceed the 4S in almost every area except graphics. SGX540 just isn't a match for the SGX543MP2.
BV,
Glad to see you've migrated over here from the DX forums. You've always been a voice of reason and a lot is needed here.
