***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I wonder what the battery life would be with LTE disabled. I'm not going to be able to use it for quite some time. So if the battery isn't horrendous on 3G, then i'm still fine.

I'm sure it'll have LTE, Droidette, and that's the problem: You slap a 1750MAh battery in a high-definition LTE phone and it's gonna crap out in a few hours.

Steven, your "source(s)" better assuage the restless natives soon or we may show up at the Googleplex with torches and pitchforks!

I'm loading my oxygen and acetylene tanks now...

Dropbox or something similar may be useful to manage more files than can fit in internal memory and/or provide a more convenient backup/restore ability.

Funny, I'd much rather have 8GB internal and ship w/empty SDCard slot than have 32GB internal and no slot.

I would like external storage because I use what I have, but I also have been using cloud based storage for business and personal storage for a couple years. I have been using Googles Music cloud based service and Amazons also along with a separate cloud service for photos and one for business files that I can access when traveling. So if the NO SD card is reality and I believe it will be then I think it is for a reason and that reason could be gCloud

Google has a cloud service for business and I believe they might use this to launch their own gcloud service to owners of the Nexus Prime and future ICS phones.

If that's the case then it wont be a big deal for me personally as I am used to such a service as long as it is a free service or a small fee for unlimited storage so I can put all of my files and backups in one place all accessible through my PC, phones and tablets.

Time will tell but it seems like it could be whats happening.

I certainly don't see how S/he could think we would be very happy with these specs. An old GPU that it's main competitor blows out of the water. No SD Card slot. Horrible battery life. No removable battery. If all of these come to pass or just some of them, I don't see this as a "game changer".

the gpu will still be towards the top of the android pile. the last nexus phone didn't have an sd card or a notification light. battery life is expected to be in that range if you take into consideration the screen and lte.

no removable battery though? where did that rumor come from? i haven't seen that anywhere

An LTE phone w/ICS, HD screen, and dual 1.5GHz would be a game changer for an awful lot of people.

Some of the rumors are beginning to sour me on this phone. Among them are maybe no SD card, maybe no LED, maybe bad battery life and maybe no replaceable battery.

When I think of how I use my phone and what I expect from it, my above list has a lot of weight. No matter how fast a phone is, if it can't last a day on a charge, it's usefulness declines. If I can't swap batteries, then it's worse. The guy I sit next to has an EVO and it's charging whenever he's at his desk....

There's a chance the phone may have an sd card slot, except you will have to purchase an sd card or use one you already have.......but don't get too excited about this, as it still may come with no sd card slot.

From jcase on the #gnexus channel:
<@jcase> apparently i maybe wrong about the no sdcard slot, i could of interpreted "no sdcard" as not having a slot, instead of not coming with one.

I think everyone needs to step back and grab a cup of coffee.

I've followed this thread from near the beginning, and it seems whenever someone posts some favorable information, we are quick to dismiss it as rumor (Where's your source?), but as soon as anything relatively negative is posted, we all latch onto it like it's proven fact and it's the end of the world. (I'm guilty too)

These are all rumors, folks. Let's not panic yet.

sry that i have to ask... but i really don't know much about cameras...

what does ISO stand for and what is its function? can someone explain to this dumb guy (me) ? :D

I know this is totally off-topic, but figured I could help real quick with a real world analogy that I learned about ISO when I first started photography.

Relate ISO number to worker bees collecting light onto the sensor. The less worker bees (lower ISO) the less light is captured on the sensor in that amount of time (shutter speed). The more worker bees you have (higher ISO) the more light can be captured on that sensor in that period of time. But as you increase worker bees in that same space you increase collisions between them which relates to digital noise. So the higher the ISO the more light you can bring in, but it results in more noise on the photo.

Back on topic!

Bldgengineer, I'm trying to snap out of it... but when we get THIS kind of down on the Prime roller coaster it's tough. I really want this phone. I really do! But if the disadvantages outweigh the benefits, it's hard to stay positive.

I have no problem getting my own SD card. I was going to do that anyway. But a non-replaceable 1750Ah battery is gonna blow chunks. Especially if I'm on the road using the HD screen and LTE faster than the car will charge it. I don't need the thing dying on me like my OG Droid. But the Razr's "non-blur" UI does not appeal to me either, and my Droid NEEDS to retire. NOW!

Just sayin'...

want...
..........some...
....................more...
.............................leaks...

so how about vz_wired and/or Steven's source (maybe vz_wired = his source)?

give us some more tasty shit (no i've never tasted shit, don't even mind asking) :D

I thing the concern or doubt about the LTE came from an ATT user based on the FCC paperwork that went through.

As far as the non-replacable battery, that first popped up on this board and others a couple of weeks ago and has been floating around ever since. It gained some steam as word about the thinness of the device spread.

Okay group, here ya go. The first one's free, then we'll talk.

My new mantra: Believe nothing. CK was right.
yup. Nobody knows anything. In regards to bmx and his battery statement. It is already well known that battery life will not be great on ANY LTE device released this year. The best you can hope for is halfway decent. When the 2nd gen LTE radios are released next year we will start to see much better battery life.

BMX is not saying anything that people dont already know. You want a good LTE device with good battery life wait until next year. If you dont want to wait then dont complain. Thats the way it is and there is no changing it. Period.

Woah. Guys, you're making my ledge-jumping look like skipping and whistling a tune.

Where in the world did we get the idea that it would be a non-replaceable battery? There has NEVER been an Android phone released with that crappy spec.

In this age of LTE = battery drain, Samsung would have to be stupidest bunch of idiots on the planet to release a non-replaceable battery.

There is a reason for this. It is human nature to predict the future based on past events.

ie Verizon has F***'d us in the past, continues to F*** us, and will probably F*** us in the future. Therefore, any negative information must be true! Its just logic isnt it? LOL

I will probably keep quiet and ride this all out today. Kind of bummed we probably wont hear anything until next week, but at this rate that may be the best news.

But if the disadvantages outweigh the benefits...

This is the way everyone should look at the phone. If the disadvantages AS YOU SEE THEM, outweighs the benefits AS YOU SEE THEM, and you don't like the phone...don't get it.

IF it's the right phone for you...IF you are happy with the specs...IF you just can't wait for the "next" best phone...then once we have SOLID information on the phone, start to make the decision for yourself.

I know some of you are anxious but my next phone will be a beast. If this isn't it as far as I'm concerned, then I'll hold out. Everyone should chill a little bit. There are so many different rumors and everyone that is releasing insider information positions themselves to be "right".

I got news for you...if two people are claiming different specs for the same device...they can't both be right :)

Now...take a deep breath :D

I'm not too concerned about the SD card, but I'm also not convinced it won't have one. I have the 16GB Tab 10.1, which doesn't have an SD card slot, and even then I really don't have storage issues. I use Pogoplug, and I stream music and video generally just don't use a lot of storage (though I do have the usb adapter so I can use a card if I need to). I realize that's not true for everyone though, but for me personally not an issue.

The battery life though... ugh, that worries me a little more, especially since you really can't tell until you've used it in an actual day yourself.
