***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

General consensus is that VZW will be getting a crappier version of this phone than the rest of the world, but several weeks (months?) earlier.

So first we don't even get the Galaxy, then VZW settles and gets a phone that will be outdated by the end of the year, and they KNOW it'll be outdated?

What gives??

I'd rather wait and get Exynos and a much better battery, especially if the 5 hour life is true.

Of course nothing has been confirmed yet.

BlueBiker don't go quoting all the filthy language. Now the mods have to delete your post :)

Normally yes, but I was going to let it stand as an example of members self-policing in a helpful way.

Other mods may feel differently and their discretion will apply.

Meanwhile - YES - please respect the family-friendly nature of this forum, in language, metaphors and bent idioms.

Cheers, thanks!

On a side note...do we have 3 mods here now? Is there some sort of algorithm that calculates how many mods are needed by frequency of F*** bombs in posts?

I apologize, EarlyMon, for inciting acts of shocking violence towards those (mostly) innocent of wrongdoing, and I'm glad you deleted that hurtful post.

FWIW, though, I was advocating for after-hours violence.

But no, I must swallow my pride and agree with your wise action.

I stand humbled, and I stay rightfully chastised. It shall probably happen again, but I will feel sorrow for it, you can rest assured, my good man.

You have 3 vocal mods here. The actual number varies and the thing to be aware of is that mods lurk.

Not sure, but I think we peaked at 8 of us overlooking the situation.

We prefer to not work a predictive fashion - way better for catching trollls and spammers and just quietly getting each other's backs.

If our gentle nudges to follow the posting rules fail, then we'll be sadly compelled to start handing out red butts.

We don't want that, no one posting here wants that, even my dog doesn't want that - so - let's keep it clean and fun for everyone, mmmmk?

My dog thanks you! :) ;)

Woof!

Going on the assumption that the VZW version has an SD slot but no included freebie card...

Perhaps extras like these are funded by carrier bloat. I will gladly provide my own SD card if it means that I can enjoy a bloat free Google experience.

We're becoming quite the riotous bunch.

Droidette, dammit, your avatar still scares me a little. Now whenever I read your posts I imagine it in a scratchy voice.

And if you wait for user reviews, opinions are all over the place. It's so subjective. Between fanbois, individual usage, tolerance level, "lemon" units, etc. You really need to experience it for yourself. I really hope when reviews come in they are accurate and bad stuff isn't swept under the rug. I honestly believe that's the case with TBolt lovers.

After having the Fascinate then the TBolt, I would like to go back to the slimmer, lighter form factor of the Fascinate. Plus the Fascinate had a great display by comparison! Aside from that...the TB has been really good to me.

I've always fought that in the forums because so many people were unhappy with it but as a rooted phone running custom ROMs (like I will always do with any phone), I have few complaints. My sister-in-law on the other hand loved it for a few months and now hates it because of the battery life and text messages being sent to the wrong person . I'd be upset with that too but it's not an accurate description of my experience. I'm at 81 percent battery life after 5+ hours off the charger with a little web browsing in the morning, a few texts messages, etc. Light use but still not shabby IMO.

Bottom line is that we say "your mileage may vary" a lot on this forum for a reason...it's true. The Nexus Prime will be no different. Some people will love it, some people will hate it, and some people will not feel strongly either way.

I really wouldn't and I'd take it down a notch - but that's just me and you ought do what you think best - and so will mod staff.

Have you seen the last line in my sig?

Just saying. ;)

Heh, wouldn't be the first time in this thread. But I'd probably better be on good behavior for a bit after tweaking Early for his Carol Merrill imitation.

lma0 - Yep, I work at my normal job for cash and valuable prizes!

Gotcha!

Agreed. But I hope you understand that I'm not always aware of my terrible behavior. I thought the D-bagism was classic with CK.

Now, I'm not being sarcastic, I really want to know: Can I hide that kind of stuff in a "hide/show" button, or is it completely unacceptable? I'm asking because a lot of times I'm gleefully chuckling at a post that will really get that, you know, zing! quality down without being malicious, and that doesn't happen very often, but I do pause right before I hit submit, so that means that I must have some sort of inkling that it just might be crossing the line, but I'm not quite sure!

So, if I put those "inkling" posts under a hidden button, would that be all right? Or not?

I will respectfully abide by your decision. And I'm sure Bluebiker would like to know, too.

Maybe even an "NSFW" warning above the hidden button? Something like that?

If VZW screws us on this phone I am going to T-MOBILE and getting the Galaxy S 2 or the HTC Amaze.

I swore I would never get another HTC but from what I am reading they have really fixed all of my complaints.

I'd be angry enough to do that, too, but I just can't give up my unlimited data. . .I'll just swallow what VZ gives me, as usual. But at least I'll be able to choose between Prime, Vigor, and RAZR. They can't all suck!

Right?

Yeah but if I made it, say, Princess Leia in the slave girl outfit, that image would undermine the brilliant insights, staggering observations, and valuable information I'm sharing. Because I have so many important things to say here *cough* not like the random speculations and frequent wig-outs that all y'all keep having *cough*

Yeah, that's true. The Emperor Stitch is awesome. It just scares me. But I guess that's what you'd want if you're proclaiming some sort of weight opinion, right? :D

Although, FWIW, I've ALWAYS had a lot of respect for Princess Leia in her metal bikini. :p

First of all, I'd like to get the butt kissing out of the way and thank the mods for maintaining a modicum of mutual respect and open contribution in this forum. I get so sick and tired of people flaming each other that most of the time I don't bother to post in forums or read responses to blog posts. So thanks!

Its been interesting observing how rapidly the technology has evolved over the last couple of years. I remember waiting with baited breath to score an OG DInc to replace my Eris, and was blown away by the performance difference.

I hope the Nexus will yield the same level of improvement; to be honest, I'm getting away from the raw specs and looking more towards functionality and optimization. From my perspective, it would appear as though the Nexus should be able to handle just about anything we will be able to throw at it with aplomb.

If that's the case and there aren't any real deal breakers (non-replaceable battery) then this will be my next device. Sure there will be something better spec-wise in a couple of months, but this thing should be just about as future proof as they can currently make it, and I really don't foresee a situation where it would struggle with anything that would be asked of it... especially if ICS has been optimized for the TI OMAP.

Either way, we are all in the same boat... broken F5 key, Google search for "Nexus Prime" set to stories from the last hour, and eagerly, IMPATIENTLY waiting for the next little tidbit to come out :-D

Glad to be sharing the moment with you guys. Have a great day, cheers and beers to the next round of rumors!

On behalf of mod staff, THANK YOU for asking! We like getting this out in the open, it helps everyone. :)

We would much rather participate by helping new users find their right forums, find the Market, cross-reference answers and obliterate spammers than have to play heavy with helpful members.

So - here's how I've explained it before, it seems to have helped others. Imagine that what you're saying will be read by your 13 year-old niece and that you'll have to answer to your sister for stuff.

Do we know that our darling 13 year-old angels swear and have every manner of out-there chats? Maybe, probably. Do we avoid it in front of them to show a better way by example? Yes, I think we all do. Do we want to catch it from big sister for failing? Not really.

So - if it's not downright gross and offensive on that scale, but it's kinda edgy and not something your bosses' boss would like, hang an NSFW on it and use the hide tags.

And yep - if you have to pause on the zingers, that's nature's way of telling you to use the hide button, what can it hurt?

And please remember that our imaginary 13 year-old niece knows how to work the Show/Hide button.

Fair enough? :)
