***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

On a more serious note, is anybody somewhat worried about this event being in Hong Kong? This phone is supposed to be a VZW exclusive, so why would it be announced in Hong Kong? We know a GSM version exists because it cleared the FCC, so will that be the one that we see? I would bet on it. Then the question is, will we see or even hear about the VZW version at this event? I'm starting to doubt it, and if we don't, when will it be announced? VZW is holding a conference with Motorola on the 18th, and I don't know if I see them stealing the thunder from that for this phone that has supposedly frustrated them because Google and Samsung have controlled the announcements and marketing (or lack thereof).
I could answer this question if I knew there were 1 or 2 devices. But for discussion purposes only I will throw out 2 scenarios

Scenario 1. One device is announced that has both GSM and CDMA/LTE capabilities (GSM Arena phone) Samsung/Google announce that the phone will be released via Verizon Wireless first with subsequent releases across all other carriers at a later date

Scenario 2. Two devices. The GSM version is announced and releases first. Samsung/Google may or may not acknowledge a Verizon release of their own version of the phone (same specs? different specs?). If they don't announce a Verizon version then Verizon announces it (obviously) at a later date.

Well it is kinda good news that they are angry because we are so close to being right, but I hope that they aren't mad enough to track down whoever the sources are and punish them.:(

I just hope they didn't do what Apple has done on occasion and give different people different prototypes or specs to see what leaks, and nail the only person that could've leaked it.

Figures the first time Samsung/ Google/ Verizon take notice of us is when we don't want them to. Good at ignoring us the rest of the time.

I think they watch the blogs and forums pretty often. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually assigned people to do it on a regular basis in the time leading up to device launches.

The Prime project might be close to getting Bionic'd and they are clamping down, who knows.

I know I've been trying to get some info from my sister, but no dice. She told me over the phone a couple of nights ago not even to expect a text back during the day!

Gonna be a good weekend. Heading back home for the weekend...watch some football (was too busy last weekend and cowboys are coming off the bye week) and then NP news on tuesday. :)

I quoted this because I added to it. They're mad. Really angry.

So let me understand...they are angry because a group of dedicated, intelligent people put together a likely list of specs based on what we have gathered from published (although hard to find) data?

This is called competitive intelligence, and they do it too for their competitors' pipelines. They're probably angry that this forum is doing for free/for fun what they have to pay people lots of money to do in-house.

Carrier Pigeons. That's the answer! :p

If they're actually angry (I have my doubts, it could just be PR shtick), we wouldn't be their target, it'd be the leakers in their own organization.

This is PERFECT! I've been running linux servers since 97, so nothing new there, and it's java which I currently do, so it will be fun to dig. 10 bucks is cheap to support a good product. +1 for the help!

Yeah, I run mine on a gentoo linux box, with a amd e-350. Plenty fast for any transcoding it needs to do, although I don't screw with video on there, just audio.

The api will work the first month or so without donating, so you can try it out with the android app, or other clients to see if you like it before sending any money in. I definitely listen to a lot more music now that I run things through subsonic.

I wonder what percentage "WE" make up of the eventual group of Prime owners. I would bet its quite minuscule.

Hell, I bet 15,000 of the views on this thread are mine.

So... Verizon, take it easy, we're just phone nerds. We gotta know. We lust after these devices.... you might not understand.

But realize the folks you have that tell us the info, LOVE their jobs. They are phone nerds too, which is why they help us out. No harm, no foul.

And again... look in my hands. $200-300 bucks headed your way.

everything we leaked.

If Verizon is pissed about stuff that your source has leaked, it's a good sign. I just wonder if he/she/it saw the final prototype (if CK's opinion that all testers don't get final product), especially since he/she/it isn't a beta tester.

I'm still hoping for an SD card slot. I know the cloud is awesome and all that, but I like the idea of old-fashioned load it onto the phone and go.

But either way you cut it, I think we're all going to be really satisfied with what we hear on Tuesday.

Here's hoping Verizon doesn't Verizon it up this time!
