I beleive Steven's source confirmed there would not be an SD slot today

I thought it was yesterday and that he corrected himself that it wouldn't ship with an sd card but that it might or might not have a slot. Oh well. I'll keep reading and keep my fingers crossed.

Google and Samsung have to realize there are many times we are in places that we can't be online but still want to access our stuff.

Well then. My enthusiasm for this device just went to zero, if true. I could hold on to hope that the nav bar can be hidden, but no micro sd slot is absolute and IMO pure silly.

This aint' no iPhone or Windows Phone. Android devices "need" to have a micro sd.

I hope that "no micro sd card slot" is incorrect. If not, my D3 beats it for storage, since 12gb internal is usable for media and I have a $43 32gb micro sd that works fine (and is hot swappable).

Added: Please keep in mind 32gb in a device is not really 32gb:

30gb usable

At least 2gb will go to ICS data allocation space

About 1.5gb for the firmware package and stock apps

There is a floor of about 1gb, where you can not add anything, since apps will not install (similar constraint on HC too).

Seems like a lot of space for most (and is), but rubes like me that have Playstation, N64, all the Oids, Tiger MAME, MAME4droid, Amiga, videos and MP3s- no microsd slot does not cut it.

I use my Droid 3 as my travel all-in one buddy :) Well, the Flyer now as well.

like i said earlier, i don't see samsung backpedaling on this device at all. i see no reason that ANY part of it would be inferior to the SGS2. the SGS2 has been out since March (?), why would they release something 8 months later (yet alone a nexus device that i'm sure they want to impress google with) with hardware that wasn't good enough then?

Am I the only one that doesnt have 16 (or 32GB) of movies or songs to fill up the phone? Hell, I've got about 110 apps and 100 songs on my ipod touch and only using 8.5 GB (I know..i know..Apple product :D)

I've been reminded by my dear friends on this forum that it's not the Mpx size that matters but the sensor quality. HOWEVER the crappy pictures I saw earlier today supposedly taken by the N__ P__ just reinforce that 5 Mpx still doesn't make up for better sensor, as they were only marginally better than the pics I get from my OG.

I didn't follow the logic here. There was a crappy pic taken by N__ P__ (wait, why do we do that? is it bad luck to spell it out?) that I guess had an unreasonable ISO value even though the camera should've been capable of much better. Maybe it was poor lighting or flash was forced off. How does that relate to megapixels?

Sigh, it's not a deal-breaker for me, but I can see how it will be for many others. I think it's a poor decision if true.

Is there a way to have a portable drive connect to phone so that the phone can access data? HDMI or other?

Don't know. My OG can be used as a USB drive and I can transfer files between my 'puter and my device when it is charging thru the USB port. Don't know if you can do that with this one or not.

I'm actually shocked at no SD card. Seriously, I thought that would be a gimme spec at this point in time.

Pdfs, word and excel docs, photos, songs, videos, and movies take up space fast. My dinc with 32gb card fills up quickly.

I've noticed a dearth of media coverage re: the Hong Kong announcement since Google made it official. Think the media are a little bitter about having been stood up at CTIA?

I wonder if a thumb drive with adaptor would work. Has any one tried this with an android device?

Perhaps it is the same confusion as the Droid 3..... For about a week, the spec stated "no micro sd", but really meant there was literally no microsd card in the package (you had to buy your own).

Would make sense, since "32gb" already on board. We can hope at least. The good news for you folks is if it does not have a microsd slot, I will quickly stop posting here :)

Seems a nice device, but not for me without the sd slot.

There's not much to say about it. The standard tech media outlets (Engadget, Ars, etc), all mentioned it...what else did you want?

No slot is unfortunate. Kinda dimmed my enthusiasm but the better battery is keeping me in the game.

Edit: Wooo Hoooo! I got 8000!

Edit2: Tough crowd. I was using the Phandroid app, jeepers. How's this?

8000!!!!!

Yes! According to earlier posts in this thread, a "USB host mode" feature was previously available with a rooted/customized phone and the capability is mainstreamed into ICS.

Lets you hang a USB flash drive off your phone if you have the right adapter. That's going to be great!
