***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Makes sense. I still believe that Google and Samsung had plenty of time to market the next big thing tons more than what they have done. NOBODY except us dig for leaks etc. People want it delivered right to them. Someone in the market for phones that is shoipping around cell phone shops will not know about the next big until it actually hits the shelves. Google and Samsung have huge bottomless pits filled with money. They should use that to hire a marketing team. Viral campaigns, tv ads etc. I see iPhone commercials everyday but never really a saw Galaxy S 2 or Nexus S commercial.

Wake up Google, Samsung, please

Just recently I have been seeing TV commercials for the Galaxy S2.

I do sleep on occasion, Millinium. And I do spend time with the wife and dogs, as well. Not like some of you people. And I also do a little crime-fighting on some nights.

While i'm a little concerned for lack of an SD card,(Media Junky), It doesn't have me worried. I'm more concerned about an HDMI out port. I haven't heard anything on this. What's your guys' thoughts on this phone having HDMI out?

I personally really like the name Galaxy Nexus. To me, it says two things. Galaxy is Samsung's flagship brand, so you know it's a great phone, and Nexus is Android's flagship brand, so you know you're getting a great OS experience. What more could I ask for?

This is exactly what the teaser video about things going better together was getting at. Two brands (Galaxy and Nexus) being a perfect combination together to make a better phone.

cookies and milk = a better snack
wine and candles = a better moment
newspaper and coffee = a better morning
galaxy and nexus = ???

I'm hoping for a better super hero.

Sometimes I go over and check out Androidcentral forums (lord knows why) and I have to say that this forum is head and sholders above them. I have never in my life seen more whinny little bit*hes. The mods are non-existant. The mods here are top notch...and we have a great group of contributors here.....Thanks for a great couple of weeks...and for another great couple of weeks to come..... end ass kissing.

Agree. These forums are awesome. I first joined for the release of the DInc and had a great time leading up to the release of that device. There were plenty of leaks that came out here first before any other site picked it up. Which just proves that this is the place to get early leak info on any device.

phone and tablet

This would make the absence of the sd card more acceptable as presumably the tablet will have more memory and or an sd slot.

A bit off topic maybe.........................was wondering why Apple gets away with all the law suits against Samsung?
I was thinking televisions................Samsung, LG, Panasonic, etc etc. They are all so much alike and i have never heard of any law suits in that market.

Is this just Apple trying to stay on top or is it just me? Apple is really putting a bad taste in my mouth over this crap.

Because lawsuits arise from the infringement of one or more issued patent claims, not because something "looks similar" to the general user (unless it's a design patent, but we're talking utility patents here). Every company tries to workaround other patents in the most creative way, sometimes coming up with very similar looking things but that fall outside the scope of an issued patent claim.

At minimum, it will support DLNA wireless streaming and if it's a true brand marriage, I expect it to have an MHL port - acts like micro USB for data and storage, does full HDMI out with a usb powered adapter.

Disagree, the 1st Galaxy S was to be avoided, IMO. Fatal problems with hardware and software, and being locked into Bing. I personally know of 3 people that defected to iPhone because they had so many problems with their Galaxy S that they were convinced that all of Android was flawed. If that's the way the 3rd Nexus is going to be, I'll be tapping away on the HTC Vigor.

I suppose the hugely successful and best selling Android phone of all time, the SGSII, was just a fluke. Lets forget about the SGSII. That one doesnt count. Their first Galaxy phone may determine the quality of their 3rd. Makes sense to me....

Starting to get cold feet: By next summer, there will be substantial gains in processor and screen technology with the added benefit of better battery life. The SGS3, the IP5, and other phones will be out and ready to go. Do I want to get stuck with a 2 year commitment now or wait 8 months for something very special? Food for thought.

Every 6 months that exact same dilemma gets discussed. There will always be a newer shiny to want :)

I just think that's a repeating cycle though. 8 months later you may have the same feeling about what's coming out 8 months ahead of that moment in time. Sooner or later we just have to dig in and commit. I think that time is now for me. Notice I said "think". ;)

I cant wait to get my new "Galaxus" phone.

Hmmm, the Gnex aka Galaxus aka Galaxy Nexus.
We have some masters of wordplay in this thread :D

Also, this essentially confirms what we already knew but

http://www.itproportal.com/2011/10/14/iphone-4-rival-alert-samsung-google-nexus-s-cleared-out/

Looks like retailers are clearing their inventory of the Nexus S as they prepare for the Gnexusprimephone.

P.S. The article gives the Nexus S a fairly bad rap, so if you're attached to that phone, shield your eyes :(

Another pro lurker here... Most any of the specs being thrown around will suit me fine although I'd prefer an SD card. Maybe I'll have to mosey over that Google Music invite thread.

What I'm really looking forward to is the software though. ICS needs to be a nice smooth hardware accelerated UI experience and I need to never see "HTC Sense has crashed again" in my life! With no SDK preview though, can we really expect a good experience from many apps before they're updated? All we have is the 'Preparing for handsets' blog post. (Can't post links yet).

I'm sure Google has some great things up their sleeve for ICS in terms of merging Honeycomb and Gingerbread, just hoping they finally nail the UI and I'm not forced to root and install ROM's unless I feel like it. Experience with my HTC Inspire has been ok but I'm really looking forward to a nice speedy vanilla Android phone.
