Guy humor on divorce and re-acquisition is not a universal form of humor.

Guys expect anyone uncomfortable to speak up, but remember, those most uncomfortable sometimes speak up the least.

It's all fun until someone gets bad feelings and we don't want any of that.

Cheers, thanks a lot! ;)

Please Verizon, get over yourself and your monstrous ego. Focus instead on giving us good phones at a decent price instead of pissing off your customers.

They should be willing to do this, because it's pretty much what they do with the iphone. Only difference is the iphone has a proven track record of selling millions of devices where the nexus doesn't. If Google/Samsung market this correctly though, it could.

1) Source not sure whether it will be selling online pre-order or not.

2) Scheduled to be sold in VZW stores 11/3 but there is a LOT of tension, now, between VZW and Samsung/Google for the past two days and things are not looking good. There has been a lot problems regarding marketing, shipping quantities, (there might be other stores offering the Nexus at the same time on Verizon contract). There are other problem which our "source" can't get into.

4) Had these issues turned up beforehand the project might have been scrapped (nipped in the bud).

5) VZW people (identifying information deleted) are excited about November 3rd and having a great phone (we love phones, too). But a lot of (certain vzw people-identifying info deleted) are having anxiety attacks over things that are not firmly in their control.

That's today's epistle!

From this I'm inferring that it will be a real Nexus phone from Google with updates from Google. That's good.

The whole thing (the latest info and yesterday's nugget about Verizon being mad) reminds me of how cable/phone/internet providers are so nervous that they are becoming dumb pipes.

Well too bad! No one cares about your service specifically. You want our money we want good coverage at fast speeds at a fair price using the equipment we want to use. If you don't like that or can't meet those criteria we will move on to another company who does.

Stop acting like AOL and thinking people want your filtered version of mobile living. If you want to put up the shitty Verizon Navigator on the market so be it. Let the market dictate. But don't force it on my phone and don't make Samsung cripple network GPS so that only your software can use it like with the Fascinate. Don't make me wait months for an update that you have to test if Motorola wants to release a crappy update (Gingerbread on X), then Motorola has to deal with the fallout. If you are going to charge for tiered data then who cares if it is used on the phone or tethered. 2GB == 2GB.

The EU model of mobile phones has to get here. It hasn't because all the stupid US consumers think Verizon is helping them by selling them a phone for $200 instead of $600. First the phone isn't really $600, and an open market would show that quickly. Second they charge you more per month with that subsidy, so if they charge you an extra $20 a month you have just spent an additional $480 in a year on that $200 phone. Some deal you are getting. Especially when that phone is locked to one carrier (and country in Verizon's case).

Well the only thing I could see is Verizon kills the subsidy for this phone in spite.

Which would kill the Nexus for a lot of us.

Does anyone know how much inter-corporate bickering factors into actual release? I mean, is it possible, this close to November 3, that we don't end up getting it?

I find that extremely hard to believe. But I don't know how close Nexus One got to actual release on Verizon.

By now, Verizon is likely contractually committed - to the hilt and beyond.

I'd say worry now is not needed, and that report by Steven's source was simply an indication of the tension and the complexity of the corporate relationships explaining the complexity of internal dealings that shape the answers we seek.

Was point 3 redacted, or was there just a mistake in numbering?

I've been an unregistered lurker in this forum since the day I found out VZW was passing on the SGII for a better phone with exclusive rights. If this phone gets passed too, I will go to whatever carrier I have to in order to get the Nexus. I assume that several others will do the same, but probably not enough to affect the bottom line at Verizon, and that's truly their only concern. If they feel it will make them look good, we will get the Nexus on VZW 4GLTE, but if they think they will not be able to steal some of the glory from Google and Samsung, those of us who are with Verizon will be sorely dissapointed, IMHO.

Exactly, they are both contractually obligated and these things are par for the course. It should actually be expected

-.-'

don't bully me :(

Oh damn, I'm sorry r4yN. I was just teasing because of the previous misunderstanding and thought you'd smile. But you're not amused and it won't happen again. -BlueBiker

Agreed. Please delete my post above.

Is Verizon getting nervous about not having complete control? They really need to relax and help market the phone properly and they should receive their reward.

Anyway, I thought of a good combo name for the device:

Galaxeus.
