I see some push back on NFC from verizon but I don't understand if they take a stance against NFC then doesn't that put them on a island with all ICS phones in the future?

I think they are looking for leverage but knows they can't really stop NFC from happening.

This doesn't make any sense!!! If vz wants Isis to work, then they NEED to have NFC Chips. Thats how it works. If there's an NFC chip in the phone, then anyone can DL google wallet.

Ugh...

More than one Nexus from several manufacturers? I wonder when they will be announced since the 18th/19th is just Samsung and Google, and will they all be coming to Verizon?

Can't download it if VZW blocks it from the market, kinda like they did with Wireless Tether.

*edit* I mean, you CAN, but the average consumer probably doesn't worry themselves with it.

Hahah...nver mind. R4yN got it....good looking out! I'm still gonna leave this here though.

yeah you're 100% correct, but as the onscreen-buttons are a main aspect of ICS, it just doesn't make sense to leave them out on a nexus device... (my opinion)

No one is saying they'll be Nexus devices. In fact BMX just tweeted this:

Damn! Too slow ;)

VZW just continues to make surprising business decisions. I for one would probably by the phone if it comes un-subsidized... as much as that would suck. But I'd make sure that the poor Verizon rep (the unlucky soul) would definitely get an earful from me about how ridiculous the company's decisions are.

He clarified. It looks like ICS will be coming to these new devices when they launch or soon after.

I thought that was obvious... no need to panic people

edit: aw snap, last car in a 5 car pile-up.

I couldn't care less about NFC, it's not ready for primetime yet anyway. I just want a Nexus device on Verizon since they have the coverage in my area...stupid company politics.

I am confused, too. Is he saying that more than the Gnex will be announced in Hong Kong or that there will be more than one device that debuts with ICS?

I gave up trying to understand it. I don't have the patience for puzzles in my news sources. He should repost in English.

I hope it works out for all you guys on VZW, I'm rooting for you guys. There seems to be a lot of passion & emotion from all of you guys wanting a Nexus device on VZW, obviously, we're on page what 175.

Thanks. A main reason is that we were waiting for the Function, then the Stratosphere, then the SGS2, and now the Prime Nexus. So yeah we're a little pent up!

It sounded as if they're insisting on having Google Wallet disabled or removed from ICS phones, presumably until ISIS(?) wins and Google Wallet becomes irrelevant.

They did this because it violates their terms of service (getting free tethering when they charge a monthly subscription fee). I don't know if google wallet would violate their T.O.S. And even if it did, its not that hard to get wireless tether. You can DL it almost anywhere online...

Ok...WTF does that mean...can someone put that into google translate for me.

Edit: Is he saying...Razr (spyder), Galaxy, and Vigor....and that there is more than one option?

It means he's bored and one way of curing that is teasing other people with small bits of information.

'ICS hardware' - i don't understand what he wants to tell us?!

He's saying that ICS will be coming soon to HTC and Moto devices....so if you don't like samsung you can choose from your favorite manufacturer.

One thing that I did not know before is that Samsung is a foundry partner for TI. So this means that the OMAP4460 can head strait to Samsung phone assembly factory right after it's been fabbed. However, apparently TI is not real happy with Samsung's foundry... they feel like they take a backseat relative to other customers Samsung feels are higher priority (Apple, especially) and plans on terminating their relationship after the move to 28 nm processes. Here's an article about it:

Upset TI slams Samsung's foundry efforts

TI reportedly cuts wafer starts at TSMC, UMC

I'm sure they'll work something out. Too much hype for this phone whether Verizon wanted it that way or not. It'll all work out, I'm not worried and refuse to jump aboard the outbound train to despair any more where this phone is concerned.

Edit: Never mind. Just look at this instead, and move on!

I'm seriously not convinced that VZW is not getting the Gnex. Honestly, they are already made, ready to ship I'm sure, they are in both VZ and BB's systems. We are in a panic over something that will probably be resolved before launch. Someone will make a back door deal and we will be happy campers.

Sammy/Google have a ton of money invested in this already, and I'm sure tons of inventory. VZ had to sign a contract before taking it on. I think it would be a nightmare if they backed out of their deal. And worst case, the VZ Gnex will be sold directly from Google/Sammy with no subsidized price (that would seriously suck though)...

That would suck terribly, but I would buy it. If for no other reason that to show VZW that thisphone is more important to me than they are. (jk) There will be a massive backlash if this deal falls through at this point, and I don't seriously think any of the three companies is willing to let that happen.

wooot? i don't like moto [HTC would be ok, but i usually prefer samsung] >.<

edit: damn wyggles was faster... :(

I interpret as saying that RAZR and Vigor could be vanilla devices. It reminds me of when BGR first leaked the Nexus, and said that there might be similar flagship devices from other OEM's launched at about the same time across all carriers.

Yes, this is a HUGE deal for Google, Samsung AND Vz. I don't see a single scenario where this phone doesn't launch on VZ. There might be a deal to not have Google wallet pre-installed, or something of the sort. but honestly, it's getting announced next week, launched in about 2 weeks, and I can't see this not happening.

I think that is what most of our excitement and despair boils down to -- We all want something vanilla and stock. If all 3 are, then I'll just see which one feels best in hand and go from there. Won't be long before we know the truth after all.

As far as NFC, Isis, Verizon, Google, Samsung, delays, panic, suicides, etc. go I have two words for you at this point:

Contractually Obligated

Think back to the Bionic and what has been said about it after the fact. "Verizon didn't have much faith in it, but they were contractually obligated to release the device." If the phone has made it this far then contracts must be in place and it is pretty much inevitable at this point. Verizon has it in their system and Best Buy does too. It isn't going anywhere over something as simple as NFC and Google Wallet.
