And worst case, the VZ Gnex will be sold directly from Google/Sammy with no subsidized price (that would seriously suck though)...

Could happen.

This doesn't make any sense!!! If vz wants Isis to work, then they NEED to have NFC Chips. Thats how it works. If there's an NFC chip in the phone, then anyone can DL google wallet.

I wonder if it's something that could be forbidden at the OS level, similar to how DRM works. Then it would take a custom ROM to allow Wallet to work.

I couldn't care less about NFC, it's not ready for primetime yet anyway.

No, but it might start to take off before the end of a 2yr contract.

Edit: Never mind. Just look at this instead, and move on!

Wait...I forgot what we were worried about??

As far as NFC, Isis, Verizon, Google, Samsung, delays, panic, suicides, etc. go I have two words for you at this point:

Contractually Obligated

Think back to the Bionic and what has been said about it after the fact. "Verizon didn't have much faith in it, but they were contractually obligated to release the device." If the phone has made it this far then contracts must be in place and it is pretty much inevitable at this point. Verizon has it in their system and Best Buy does too. It isn't going anywhere over something as simple as NFC and Google Wallet.

I'm taking a deep breath, having a drink, and closing my eyes for a few minutes to decompress.

Hopefully everyone listens to you, I've only posted something saying this like 5 times... lol:p

True, but I really don't think I would miss it. I doubt credit cards will be entirely phased out in that time and as far as I can imagine the use case for me will be rather limited.

Also, for Vz to block this because of google wallet would be like them not allowing Google Voice because you can essentially get visual voicemail and texting/calls for free. I feel like they would lose more money over that than NFC payments i will probably never use...

How'd that contract work out for Best Buy and the Touchpad? They were going to force HP to take back all of the unsold ones until the fire sale happened.

EDIT: Oops, not RIM/Playbook.

I think that is what most of our excitement and despair boils down to -- We all want something vanilla and stock. If all 3 are, then I'll just see which one feels best in hand and go from there. Won't be long before we know the truth after all.

I think if that were the case, Google would have all three manufacturers at the event, but they have made a pretty big deal of being in bed with Samsung, even both companies deciding to reschedule the event. I still think Samsung is the only Nexus device, while the others will get an ICS upgrade in 1Q 2012.

I hope your right and if they make us pay full price I will was going to any hoo.

I quoted this because I added to it. They're mad. Really angry.

I dunno. Suggestions? :)
Just want to take this moment to stop lurking and say forget VZW/google/sammy. They can be mad. Nexus phones are made for the nerds, normal people don't buy them. We are drumming up hype for the phone we intend to buy. Its only getting more people psyched to buy one. We are the people that convince our iSheep friends to switch platforms (sorry if that offends anyone here). I know all companies like to keep their secrecy but meh. I refuse to feel sorry for them.

I'll be coming from a vibrant for this phone, not excited its got a 5mp cam, hopefuly it is good as the rumors suggest. Maybe they couldnt make it 8mp because it would be too thick. All the other good things about this phone have me excited though.

Oh and I know my screenname may be ironic, I've used this since i was 15, when I thought nexus would be creative, didn't realize that nexus is used all over for just about anything.

alright. so. i've went and had a discussion with my Keurig and a couple cups of coffee later, i'm more mellow. with that said, i still think this could put a damper on things. but then again maybe someone just spent the last couple days trying to think of a good rumor to start and then saw a google wallet logo somewhere and decided to run with it. wouldn't be the first time a story came out of thin air.

Boy am I glad she's back. (Steven moves back away from the ledge)

True, but that is a little different. One is a retail sales company that bought into a piece of hardware that the OEM later decided to discontinue with both the hardware and the OS. The other is a carrier that is in contract with two different companies over an upcoming device that is carrying a new and improved OS.

Also, just on a side note you don't see Verizon challenging Apple with iPhone content do you? Who is Verizon more in bed with Google or Apple?

Trick question...answer is C...themselves. They are in bed with themselves.

Test....just seeing how to hide stuff...as not to offend.

The Panda King
All I can say is this... Sammy will not be the only ics stock device by year end.. #fridaybombdroppin #pandanation #sneakypanda

I found that some what interesting because let's be honest, there isn't much left of this year to announce and ship something.

I meant HP/TouchPad, and I'm almost positive Best Buy mutinied while the TouchPad was still officially for sale w/HP insisting full support.

FWIW, I do think it will probably get worked out w/some large scale negotiation and that Nexus will ship on time. But... it might not.

Wow, great question. I don't know!

probably can't announce devices with ICS before ICS has been announced :p i'm guessing next two weeks will be busy with announcements if BMX is telling the truth.
