***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Thanks. In the mean time, I put it into google and found the same link.

LTE? Huh. That only means Verizon or AT&T. Tmobile is stuck in HSPA+ and with the acquisition, isn't bothering with LTE. Sprint will switch to LTE, but that's going to take another year.

So either we are getting two phones on Verizon, or AT&T is getting this. My bet is on AT&T, since the model number is SHV, where Verizon gets the iSCH prefix on model numbers.

And to reiterate. There is no need to qualify devices that aren't going to be sold in a country. Devices made for Europe or Asia or Antarctica don't need UL ratings or FCC quals.

Pretty sure there's a cooperative agreement with Canada on this - airwaves along the border and all that.

I accidentally deleted the wiki thing. But that sounds like a stretch, regardless. I don't think the original European SGSII went through FCC, even though it was global, right?

Don't recall, too busy modding to google, sorry. I'll check back, I'm sure it'll be sorted out by you cats soon enough and then we'll know. ;)

Here, being North America - so that includes Canada.

The US, Mexico and Canada do have a wireless spectrum agreement, meaning that we all share the same spectrum for simplicity.

However, Mexico and Canada do generally accept products sold in the US with a FCC mark as compliant with their standards. But not sure if the product isn't sold in the US, if they will accept the US registration.

Whoops, my bad :o
Somehow, I was always under the impression that if a phone didn't have FCC approval, it just wouldn't work or something in the US. I guess I never really thought that out :p

Anyway, good to know that it's coming to North America, though it won't stop me from buying the Nexus, obviously.

Well guys its time for me to step away from this thread. All of the off topic talk is just way out of hand.

Haha, sorry it's bothering you dude. It's just that, as you can see, there's been pretty close to no new news today, and it'll probably be the same tomorrow. We've just resorted to shooting the breeze...

So the Federal Communication Commission has jurisdiction in Canada?

That doesn't sound right. I'd think FCC = USA

No, not at all. The Canadian FCC is the Certification and Engineering department of Industry Canada.

But as stated above, they will generally accept products for import with a FCC mark.

Conveniently, the Canadian rules are almost identical to the FCC rules in most areas. In many cases, compliance to the FCC's Part 15 automatically makes a product compliant to the IC's ICES-003 equivalent.

In a past life, I had to deal with product certification shipping to all corners of the world. What a PITA that was. The US had to have FCC and CSA/UL. Europe had to have CE, Japan was VCCI, couple with all the local marks. Sometimes the labels covered an entire product.

The admin (Phases) did indicate that this is a lounge type thread. Slight off topic conversations are allowed, as long as it doesn't derail the entire thread.

But we should get back on topic fellas, just so the mods don't have to do double duty. I myself is a guilty as any, just because for the most part, there is no real news until Tuesday, and I hate regurgitating the same lines over and over again. But when I see some info posted that I have some knowledge in, I feel obligated to share, even if off topic. Hopefully, someone will learn something, as I have learned a great deal from some of the sidetracked conversations.

Sorry Dude or Dudette....this happens from time to time and is totally acceptable per Mods. Sit back and enjoy the show....;)

Go into this thread knowing how large it is. Know that it is not all completely on topic. The OP, Steven58, will make a best effort attempt at keeping THIS top post as up to date as possible on current news on the device. You are welcome to post here or create a new thread with information you have. The new thread will be kept on topic. This thread is sort of a lounge-news type thing and off-topic talk is acceptable so long as THIS POST contains all the important information on the thread.

In any case, Samsung asked for a "withholding of photos of the device" for 6 months, so it's not like the GS2 HD LTE (whew, long name) is just around the corner or anything.

@Trent, yeah I saw that too, haha

We have a topic that we're supposed to be / stay on. I'm on the wrong thread then.

I'm stuck at Miami airport, delayed to Lax. Even being Saturday, I am surprised I didn't miss 10k. Nkk's chart is going to look different for today. I will check the post count as soon as I land in Los Angeles; hopefully I don't miss my chance at 10k.

As I'm sleeping on my flight, I will be dreaming of my Galaxosaurus Nex chasing Steven for a 4 mile run.

Sorry for anyone offended or put out, but I think we're looking for an FCC leak or announcement to help us along with any news on the Nexus - and I think understanding the FCC and recent Samsung phones is part and parcel of speculations.

So even with the relaxation on this thread, this topic would be ok, but without it, it would likely pass mod muster as well, as it's sufficiently related, even if slightly tangential.

Repeating our overall forum guidelines, not just for here -

  • Attack issues not each other
  • Stay mostly on-topic
  • Please be polite

And if you don't like how any one of us is doing the job on what posts are acceptable, hit the !Report button to the next of the offending post and tell mod staff what you think the problem is - or send one of us a PM.

It's a big forum, we have lots of threads to manage, this is but one, and I've spent **hours** moving/merging/copying for this one forum today - so - unless another mod exercises their discretion to override what's been done so far, the posts here stand as fine by moi.

Sincerely sorry, but we can't please everyone - we try, but with this situation, we just can't.

It's not all up to the mods - we really do expect people with significant interest in side-topics to open and devote threads to them - anyone can open a thread, yes?

~~~~~~
Guess I was off-base on the FCC thing, thanks for squaring me away gang! :)
Here's another translated article on the SG2 LTE Hd... Absolutely love the title LOL :D
Galaxy S2 LTE, Galaxy S2 HD LTE also be used ten thousand women do?
I am almost to the point of rolling around on the floor laughing at some of this stuff:
"If the point was about one thing, the Galaxy S2 LTE of 4.5 inches, the Galaxy S2 LTE HD 4.7-inch (4.65) are known, a woman Is not this size for writing that is too onerous"
"This is all familiar to you as soon as a meat Come on, let's pick up the abandoned such a speed"
Google nexus prime android ice cream sandwich 4.0 demo review touchscreen - YouTube
any comment on that? [i don't believe its the nexus prime... it has got the Samsung-lettering above the display... would be untypical for an nexus-device...]
seems to be some SGS2-Version...
also we can't see any onscreen buttons.. [but it could be that they are hidden, as the device is in landscape mode, and when he rotates it into portrait mode, we don't see the bottom of the display...
edit: yep seems like an Sprint SGS2 Epic 4g
