***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I believe it is a company that has signed an agreement with AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint for NFC payment rights (if not exclusivity). One of the rumors this weekend is that the Isis vs. Google Wallet issue was the source of the major consternation between Google/Samsung and Verizon.

I was at an airport yesterday at one of those newstand/convenience shops in the terminal wing. I saw a Visa/MC paypass thing attached to the card swiper, and among the logos, the NFC symbol was on there. Would loved to have waved my Galaxy Nexus to pay for the bag of pretzels. Hopefully, soon enough. :D

Well, it was a good try everybody... heck I got 9998! Had I been a half second slower...

Oh well:

That was a SLOW 1000 posts! It took 61.5 HOURS to get from 9K to 10K. No record there... but congrats to the winner, who has gained the respect and admiration of us all for 15 whopping minutes of fame!

Okay, tech geeks and geekettes: this NEXT thousand is gonna blow by really fast methinks. The pace is about to pick up dramatically as we near zero hour!

Alright, back to business as usual.

I've never had 4g so it's hard to tell what usage I'll have. My 3g usage on a 3gs has never gone over 500Mb in a month. Granted that's an iPhone and I plan to use the GNex a lot more. It would suck to go VZW and find out I need more than 5GB.

Guess I could buy the gnex with 5gb and use it for the 14 day trial, then check data usage. If I surpass 2.5GB then I know the unlimited data is the way to go.

Not sure I can talk the little lady into letting me spend $650 on an unsubsidised phone....especially with an ankle biter on the way. Time to sell fluids I guess

Does anyone with an android on LTE know if they regularly go over the 5gb monthly?

Netflix is the only thing that really put me over even 2GB on 3G. Again if you keep the same usage profile, your data usage won't change all that much, you will just do everything faster.

Yep. And you probably would have been deluged by email from Google hawking expensive airfare deals and cans of pretzels!

I'm staying away from that.

Amoled and later it was changed to SLCD,First time I've heard of this(haven't payed that much attention) I'm somewhat concerned now.

It's a valid concern but not a done deal. Over time, OLED owners have learned to vary their screens to prevent this form of persistent ghosting.

Many have reported that the problem, once noticed and if applied early, often seems to respond to the rotating-color full-screen apps designed to unstick an LCD subpixel.

Yes, but 10,000 was the peak of the mountain. What's the final number, what do you guys think?

I think we should post our guesses, and anyone within 100 posts gets a free Nexus from Steven and his Love Tunnel (limit 6)!!!

My guess: 10,850

This is exactly what I am thinking. WE have the same thing at vending machines at work. While I don't think it will replace my actual wallet anytime soon, Its a nice additional feature. I don't think it will be as big as some are predicting it though. As long as I have to carry my ID with me, I will have a wallet with plastic as well. But I would love NFC for other things besides payments, like Membership and Reward Cards, etc. Half my wallet is freakin filled with these.

i should note, the burn in came before gingerbread switched to black colors. so i'm not too concerned

He did. I got the 10k! Then it was edited I expect. These moss will do anything for a bag of cookies...but then again I don't blame them :D

Hmm. I'm very concerned. I think we need an investigation into Mod on Chimp violence. Steven, of course, is recused from judging since he is also a thief.

Hmmm. Who to pick, who to pick. Maybe OTD, but she seems very corrupt, with her fangs and all.

You mean the final number when Steven closes the thread? We need input from him first:

Is he going to close it Wednesday, when we have all the information? Or will he keep it in business until release day (which is subject to change)?

I thinly we need an informative session on mods and animal cruelty.

One thing we've learned: In the future, invest in the bag of cookies. It pays off

Also...My opinion on IP is actually very relevant to the whole entire world, and that inclueds this thread. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Cras luctus hendrerit lacus eget aliquam. Etiam blandit faucibus dolor, eu rhoncus magna vestibulum eu. Praesent vestibulum sodales metus vel sollicitudin. In nec euismod diam. Nulla pharetra, purus ac sagittis aliquam, felis quam feugiat velit, quis pellentesque velit elit id nibh. Nam velit arcu, molestie at suscipit et, consectetur in lectus. Pellentesque id risus vel risus ultricies dapibus. In hac habitasse platea dictumst. Proin auctor, leo ut rutrum venenatis, eros purus tempus dolor, ut hendrerit eros risus in dolor. In a diam enim. Morbi nibh diam, varius vel lacinia et, pretium quis lorem.

So, in conclusion, i think we should all just start debating the merits of IP. No one would ever be bored by that, right?

:p

Because the issue transcends this one phone, it's been given a place in the Lounge that transcends this one thread.

The Lounge - a rocking place viewed by many, not Siberia.

Visit it or miss out! ;) :)

PS to those that didn't recognize -

I dunno, we could use an investigator with some fangs... Otherwise I am afraid it will be as effective as the Congressional Ethics investigations.

No I mean the number we reach by the beginning of the announcement. If it's by thread shut down, I'd guess more like 15,843.

Because USUALLY after a device passes through the FCC its released approximately one month later. Nothing has shown up with the i515 designation yet.

Yes, but this really doesn't mean anything. iPhone 4S didn't show up at the FCC until the day of announcement, and only 10 days before actual release.
